wirtlehm I know, this was one of my worst fears too. She's older, and she deserves an amazing retirement. Poor mare, I feel terrible that she got this way. I feel semi responsible, but we had to rehome them so fast my dad helped me rehome her. Not that it's his fault, but I wish I'd looked into them as well.
kcrosem Yeah she's at a rescue now, in search of a foster home. She has a family she's looking into, and she requires references/property check and all of that. So I feel confident she's going to find her a good home now, it just breaks my heart it got to this point.
@DBJackson25 my MW said to "trust your instincts". So, if you feel more worried than is usual for you, then it wouldn't hurt to call.
I sometimes have almost a whole day where I don't feel little T-bear move but my baby is very lazy. Perhaps because of all the meds I'm on (which cause drowsiness).
O-M-G! Your DS' potty training story just hilariously shocked me! I am so not prepared to be a mother. Oh f***! I gag at pretty much everything. I'm that woman who thought she wanted to be a medical doctor and literally fainted in all of her uni bio labs that involved bugs or animals (they had to give me special assignments to do at home). Yikes!

Becoming a mother changes you. It's amazing how dealing with your own child's poo doesn't really bother you. I know it sounds odd, but it's true.
KristinMTBell Thank you, luckily she is still in my state and the lady is very encouraging for me to come see her before she finds her a new home. I'm sure I'll be a sobbing mess so I'm bringing my best friend along to drive
Totally an unpopular opinion here but since someone brought up the darn elf. What I don't like is the idea of him flying back to report to Santa if your kids have been naughty or not. I think it's kind of opposite of the whole message of Christmas. Not to be all religious on anyone, but the whole point of the story of Jesus' birth is He came BECAUSE we are ALL naughty. Anyway...
That said, I love photography and get a giggle out of some of the cute photos that people take of their elves. That's tons of fun, and I think it can be without the whole part about manipulating our kids with presents part. Even Santa can be loads of fun.
That's not to say I don't bribe my kids, either. Currently my boys are earning tickets for screen time (5 min each) by doing their school work and chores. But I see it differently and much more concrete--I get a paycheck when I go to work. This is what they like to work for.
(((sliding away my soapbox now...sorry if I offended anyone...)))
You know whats underrated? peanut butter and honey sammich
This sustains the lives of my children because when I make food like, oh, chicken and dumplings, they think they're gonna starve to death. I have one kid that eats almost nothing but peanut butter sandwiches every single day.
Confession: I sometimes hide from my kids and make a peanut butter and nutella sandwich. Shhhhh....
I'm sitting in the lab doing my 2 hour test for The Beetus. I actually got to read and respond to spam today!!
Not feeling so great after fasting overnight then having to drink that orange freezie drink (AGAIN).
On the bright side, there's a Tim Horton's right across the parking lot, so I'm getting some hot food and hot coffee as a reward for getting the sick kids up and dressed and out of the house by 7:30 without having eaten.

And maybe a doughnut.
Mmmmmm Tim Hortons. Love it. Good luck with your 2hr test!
Thanks. I'm hoping my test says I can continue to eat doughnuts.
Although I'm really craving a bowl of soup. We're having a big Pineapple Express here so it's windy and raining like the end of the world. And it's really darn cold in the lab. I wish they'd turn the heat up!

Their candy cane donut may or may not be what I ate for breakfast all weekend. Just sayin'
I must look huge and uncomfortable all of a sudden, I've had like 6 people that I see regularly ask me "how are you feeling??" with a genuine concern in their voice. Fine? I feel fine...
@Alygohome I am so jealous of your PB And honey sandwich! I'm a weirdo who was anaphylactic to peanuts as a kid but oddly the allergy disappeared for about 6 years only to reappear (in a milder non-anaphylactic allergy version). I wish it hasn't disappeared so I wouldn't know what I was missing!
I occasionally (Twice or three times a year) eat PB (with an epi pen handy) knowing I'm going to end up puking for over a day because I love it so much and there's nothing like it! But, since being pregnant I haven't felt like taking the risk (more like, I can't risk hurting my baby).
My fave was always PB and molasses! Mmmmm homemade bread, PB, and molasses. Mmmmm!
I am drinking ginger tea out of my "If I was a Mormon Fundamentalist, I would want you as my sister wife." that my bff bought me this weekend and a co-worker just asked me if that was appropriate to have at work. I told her probably not, but when am I EVER appropriate. She said true that and left my office. She is a 60 something grandma, I love my office now that crazy is leaving lol.
I swear to god the worst part of this test is having to undergo a full morning with no caffeine. I could fall asleep right here in this awful plastic seat. I have usually had three or more cups of coffee by now...
Second blood draw done... One more to go.

You could have a cup of black coffee before going. I hate black coffee but Theres nothing in it when its black thats going to do something to your sugar.

I was told no food or water, so that included no coffee
I always drink black coffee (black like my stone cold heart), but I didn't want to throw off the results. I want my doughnuts, dammit. Not to mention all the other yummy treats that come with the Christmas season.
I'm back at my govt job until baby comes. My govt office is on the third floor of a building that also contains the Ministry of Social Development (aka welfare and child services).
After I got out of testing for The Beetus, I went and grabbed a breakfast sandwich and a large coffee at Timmie's before heading into the office. I park, and get out of my car.
Some guy in a crappy early 90's hatchback, who is in his late 50's comes up to me as I'm walking into the building and goes "hey do you smoke?"
I go, "No, I don't, sorry."
He says, "Want to..... ..... Wait... You don't smoke?"
C'mon guy. I'm super pregnant. I know I look like shit and am carrying a monster sized coffee, but have some common sense! *eyeroll*
Ok I'm officially concerned. Freaked out is almost a close description. In the past hour I've gotten TWO phone calls from 1-800 numbers claiming to be "fraud prevention services" from my bank. I didn't give these people any information nor talk to them. Instead I called my bank and asked them to check my account. I also logged into my online banking service to check recent transactions and everything looks legit. Soooooooo scary...who are these people who are calling me???
DH is on a biz trip, I'm home alone with my bump. I don't like returning to a house all by myself. Now I know how DH felt when I was traveling so much in my pre-pregnancy days, and for 2-3 weeks at a time. =((
So after my super embarrassing and unintentional offensive-ness on last week's UO, I decided to focus on making it a little more Christmas like around the house.
Story:
We went and got our tree this past weekend. We got it at Costco, out of the back of the semi truck. They do not unwrap the tree's, just find you the height that you want. We thought it'd be fun! So we brought it home, trimmed the trunk down since the tree was about 8ft. We put it in the stand, let it sit outside to fall over night. In the meantime, my dog decides that he is going to christen it. Meh, whatever.
So Sunday night, we bring our beautifully huge tree in the house. I noticed that the tree was crooked and very uneven when it came to the bushiness of the branches. I put what lights we had on the tree, and there just aren't enough. So I threw in the towel for the rest of the night until we get more. We go to bed and about an hour later there's a huge CRASH in the living room. There is our huge tree, laying face down on the ground. All groggy eyed, DH and I put it back up and rest it against the wall and head back to bed.
So last night, after being disappointed about the uneven crooked, not lit enough tree, I decided to go get more lights, come home and conquer this giant.
We put it back in position, check the stand to make sure it's sturdy and I begin to decorate. I go outside to get the tree skirt and DH is putting hangers on the ornaments and I hear, "OH SH*T!!" followed by a large crash and breaking glass. Before even coming in the house I shouted for DH and no response. I peek inside the door, KNOWING what had happened and there is my tree...on the ground, broken ornaments and water everywhere.
I laughed like a psychopath for a good 10 minutes straight and then cried for about another 10 minutes.
I REFUSE to let this tree defeat me. Tonight, i'm going to get a new stand and round 3 will begin...
@bhjones1980 DD's first ear infection was this past August and it was a double ear infection, so bad. Then the antibiotics didn't work and we ended up in the ER, then the new antibiotics caused an allergic reaction and we had 10 days of benadryl and stress. I felt like the worst mom ever. So yesterday I thought she had an ear infection and took her in thinking that I would catch it super early and yay me! Nope, she had croup, and has had it, and somehow I missed that too >< Hope your little feels better soon but try not to feel bad. DD had no symptoms the first time and doctors were even surprised when I said no to all the questions.
We are doing elf on the shelf but he hasn't moved since I got him, I'm lazy. I probably won't do the "he's going to tell Santa on you" trip but I do like making him do inappropriate things, like pooping kisses onto the peanut butter blossoms I made the other night.
Hi ladies! I try to participate in spam but my day always get away from me. I usually post on threads at night. My spam is actually a question. I have my GTT on Monday but I don't have questions about that, I read all the other threads LOL.
*********Trigger warning for ED ladies (sorry I did not add this in before, I was not thinking clearly)*******
My last appointment I had gained 8 pounds somehow and got lectured. (I actually lost 30 in the beginning due to hyperemisis gravidarum, so I'm still technically in the red with weight gain) I tried to do better this time and exercise more but my brother came to town and we pretty much have been out to eat every night for the last 4 days. Should I disclose that to my doctor if the weight is crazy again? I don't want to seem like I'm not listening to him but I'm also not going to start a "diet." I do need to make better choices though.
@Dani_Love Why would a weight gain of 8lbs get you a lecture? I've gained about 22lbs(without any weight loss) and my MW said it is healthy, normal and right on track. And I was overweight prior to getting pregnant.
So I got invited to annoying aid's baby shower next week at work.
I feel required to go. What should I buy her? I don't want to get her a gift card because chances are she'll spend it on herself and her registry has only like 5 things on it total.
Ideas?

@cogdis I'm not sure, he just started in on me saying "you gained 8 pounds since your last appointment and you need to work on that, it's too much too fast etc, I know we just had Halloween and now it's Thanksgiving then Christmas but you can't just do whatever you want, try to get more exercise by taking walks." So now I'm paranoid that my gain is too much for him.
Thank you for the trigger warning! I will add one to my original post, I didn't even think of that as a trigger. So sorry ladies!
Try not to take it too much to heart @Dani_Love. Just try to make better choices where you can. As long as you don't have GD, it doesn't sound like you're being recklessly irresponsible with weight gain.
