9 am tomorrow morning for my 28 week appointment. I'm finally going to have the dreaded 1hour glucose test. FX that I pass and don't have to return for the 3 hour. :-S
(Random question: most OBs don't do any additional u/s's after the 20wk a/s, right? Mine has said he probably won't since I'm low-risk as of now, but I just wanted to see if this was normal...)
I have an appointment today for another ultrasound to get some more measurements that baby girl would not cooperate for. Just hoping all goes smoothly and that she's healthy. I always worry when I have these appointments, why I don't know...
@ST3WD Good luck tomorrow! My CNM only plans to do the 20 week u/s for the anatomy scan, and orders additional u/s if needed for medical reasons.
@jess412love FX your baby girl cooperates this time and she looks perfect at your u/s.
Just finished at my appointment with my CNM and took the GTT. My little lady is measuring 28 weeks at 28 weeks, heart rate in the 140's. Had the lemon lime flavor drink, it wasn't too bad, probably helped that it was cold. My midwife said she will call me later today or tomorrow to tell me if I passed or not.
I have an appt with my specialist on 12/10 (wed) to see if the bed rest and progesterone have elongated my cervix and stopped the funneling. Also checking up on the position of my placenta to see if it's migrating upward. Pretty sure that the only u/s they'll be doing is transvaginal but I could *maybe* get away with another view of the LO.
Hopefully this visit will take me off of bed rest!!!
@stewd im low risk and my OB will not be giving me any more u/s.
I have an appt tmrw, just a check up plus the glucose test. I need to remember to call and see what foods are okay to eat before the test because I cant fast (My regular doctor has me eating once every 2 hours). I know a lot of people aren't looking forward to the I glucose test, but I am cause I really want to find out how it tastes for myself, lol.
@ruemorgan My midwife had me eat protein before mine, so I had scrambled eggs and ham. She said she really just didn't want me to have anything sugary that might mess with the results. They should let you have something, especially if your test isn't first thing in the am.
I have an appt Friday, I'll be at 25 weeks and like @ST3WD, wondered about another u/s. I'm low risk and my midwife said I won't need additional, but I can't remember if they saw all they needed in the last one. I suppose this will be the one where a glucose test is ordered - good god, my horrific sweet-tooth habits might be exposed. I get so excited for every appointment!
@lawsonellis D'awwww, thanks. I just wanted you to be slightly more entertained.
@salmphil Oh, gah I'm going to be scolded for my sweet tooth. I had an aversion in the first tri and probably should have been more mommy-like towards myself from Halloween on. Oops.
@ST3WD I was wondering about the smilies too, and went to do a tongue sticking out smiley in another thread and when I typed the colon I got a drop down with a bunch of smiley options.
Passed the one hour non-fasting glucose test @ 120mg/dl. Happy not to have GD, but told I still need to watch my sweets/simple carb intake a little as I gained almost 10lbs this month.
@ST3WD I noticed that too- I get suggestions when I typing things with colons and semi colons for new smiley suggestions. Just started a couple of days ago!

Perfect, I was thinking about making eggs! Thank you
@BitsyBelle84 Congrats!! You should watch some pie go from the plate to your mouth to celebrate.
@chaysefaith & @lawsonellis I had the same question as @kcbizme. I don't use mobile bumping, but have tried to use some faces in the drop-down box online. Most of them still work, but the best ones like the evil face have been ruined.
@ST3WD That sounds like a good idea, I actually have one slice of cherry pie left in the fridge!
@Tacocatmom My midwife only does the one and three hour tests, but I have heard many practices that have switched to the two hour because it tends to be more accurate with less false positives and need to retest than the one hour.

@Tacocatmom I had the two hour test two weeks ago. My doctor prefers that one bc of the risk of false positives with the one hour test. While I was there I saw many women doing one, two, or three hour tests so according to my purely anecdotal evidence it still seems to be common to have any of these three options.
@ruemorgan it didn't taste too bad. Mine was lemon lime flavor and served cold. Tasted like the syrup you would use to make a sprite. Definitely a bit thick but not as awful as I expected. I have morning sickness still and was really worried about whether I would keep it down but I managed. Good luck to you!
I had my 28 week appointment today and everything looked normal. My doctor did mention that she had never seen so much swelling/water retention on someone who didn't have any other health concerns during pregnancy. Yesterday I bought new shoes in a size 8 when I normally wear a 6.5! Even my face is swollen and puffy.
After a 28 week check up when do people go back to the doctor? I'm moving to a new state next week so I have a big gap between this appointment and my next one.
Good luck to everyone with appointments this week!
@Lmsq1611 Starting after my 28 week appointment, which was today also, I will be going every 2 weeks. I think around 28-30 weeks is common to start 2 week appointments. Do you already have an OB in your new state?
I have my 28 week apt next Monday along with the glucose test which I failed the last time & had to do the three:( but then passed that, I didn't think the drink was that bad last time. I feel like my OB ordered some other test too but can't remember, I get to do all this with my three year old along for the apt yeah!
I've got my 28 wk appointment on Thursday am at 10 and the lovely glucose test. My oober thick drink is chilling in my fridge just waiting for me. Pretty sure this LO is breech due to the vag and butt kicks so in hoping we can look into that some more.speaking of smileys, love this one!! 8-X
I thought it was too early to worry about the baby's position? Don't they still have plenty of time to move?!
Glad to hear everyone is doing well.

My LO was breach at my anatomy scan and I asked about it at my appointment today. My midwife said she won't be concerned about baby's position unless she is still breach after my 34 week appointment.
I had my 28 week appointment last night! It was all good news! I passed my GTT! Being overweight, GD is a higher risk, so passing made me VERY happy. I also didn't gain any weight (which for me is okay considering my size) since my last appointment. That was a relief because I'm right at the weight I should have gained for the pregnancy, so I feel like any big fluctuations and I'm going to get lectured.
I just got a call from my office, I've got the motherfuckung gestational diabetes. I feel more devastated than I should, considering everything else is going fairly well. And I have my 28 week u/s on Monday.
But I'm totally feeling like this is somehow my fault or that I've failed or that I'm a terrible person, despite knowing logically that it's just this extra organ I've grown messing things up. So I have to do a diabetes education appointment and get my little finger pricker thing. Sigh.
@Whitfry I am sorry you have GD. Don't be too hard on yourself, it is in no way your fault, nothing you did could have caused or prevented it. The only upside is that in just a few months it will be over. I hope your u/s goes well Monday!
Thanks guys, your support really helps. I've been feeling down lately, so I'm just reacting to things in an over-emotional way. So I had my little pity party and now I'm moving on.
@Whitfry I'm sorry! I'd be upset too, but at least it's temporary and there's nothing you could've done to prevent it!! I feel like pity parties are totally allowed when less than desirable news is received.
@Whitfry I was diagnosed at I think about 14 weeks with GD, I felt the exact same way as you have stated! Just know that you could not have done anything differently, its just the way your body is handling the pregnancy! It was even harder because I was put on Insulin at 16 weeks which made it even harder! I hated my class but enjoyed it all at the same time it was very informational!
AFM: I had my 26 week appointment today, OB and GD. Well at GD my sugars are stable which is GREAT but I gained about 8 pounds since I was last in, which apparently is very troubling.. so now I have to go back in two weeks to talk with a dietician.... UGH Then I moved on to my OB, well they haven't received the report from the mfm that I saw A MONTH AGO, so that was fun and my blood pressure was high, so now I get to go back next week for a check up on that... I have gained a total of 13 pounds, which I don't think is bad but they only want me to gain 15 total..................
@Whitfry You're awesome, don't be you hard on yourself. It's just a roll of the dice and you didn't do anything wrong. I'm sure it's infuriating, but you'll get through it. ((creeper Internet hogs)) ETA: I meant "hugs" but imma gonna leave that autocorrect in case creeper Internet hogs would be encouraging, too.
@Carmar3- I know at my 24 wk ultrasound baby was breech and, I too, experience lots of low down vag/butt kicks still, so am assuming that he is still breech. If you are interested, I recommend the Belly Mapping workbook- I am starting to use it this week and it helps you determine positioning of baby without ultrasound along with techniques and exercises to encourage baby to turn. I know there is still time for breech babies to turn head down but I am extremely terrified of having to have a C-section and an external version is risky with my anterior placenta. I will do anything in my power to get this kid to turn. Spinning babies website is good too.
Had an appointment today for my 26 week follow up. No glucose test like I was expecting so I don't know if they're even going to do it since my next appointment is in 3 weeks, which is past when most dr's perform the test. I gained like 8 lbs in the last 5 weeks, but I guess it could be worse. I got to see my LO for a little bit and got some side shots of her face since she loves to smush her face into my placenta lol.
Was supposed to have my 28 week appointment on Monday but my flight home on Sunday evening got cancelled (right engine trouble - wtf!? At least we were still on the ground). Instead, I had the appointment today with the 1 hour glucose tolerance test. My drink was like an orange cola and did not sit real well in my stomach. I didn't eat anything before since my appointment was so early and I didn't want to risk any extra sugar. Really hope I don't have to do that again.
Last week on my way to work I got really light headed and my vision was all blurry for about 20 minutes. It felt like it does right before you black out when accidentally locking your knees while standing. After walking around for a bit I felt much better but I asked the doctor today and she said that since baby is taking more blood, my blood pressure can decrease so it's even more important to stay hydrated and get enough protein. 80-100 oz of water and protein (she suggested almonds) every 2-3 hours. Thought I was already drinking lots of water but I guess I need to step it up!
I had my 26 week appt. today with my glucose test (passed), and I scheduled my Rhogam shot since I have a negative Rh type. 4 weeks until my next appt. and then every 2 week, yikes this is happening fast.
