To join the group, please follow the below steps.

1. PM either @TheOtherJacobsons or @FamousEa with the link to your Facebook profile.

2. Accept our friend request.

3. We will then add you to the group.

4. Remove us from your FB friends list.

The only membership requirements are that you be a current member of the O14 BMB and that you actively participate on the board. If you have been a member of this board, but are not active, we are asking that you participate more on TB before requesting to be added. This may be intimidating to some of you who are lurkers, but it is a requirement. Please don't let this stop you from participating! Join in! Let us get to know you.

Famous and I discussed it and we couldn't think of a good enough reason for it to be secret. We can certainly ask the group. The only downside I see is that the members list isn't secret, but since there isn't a clear link to TB SNs, I am not sure how much of a concern the members would have with it.

I'm part of a local FB group that was just a "closed" group. Because people can still find the group through a search, we had all kinds of creepers trying to join. Our mods did a good job of weeding people out but eventually had to move it to "secret" because it kept happening. I'd worry that the O14 group could have the same and it'd be even harder to know whether people should belong to it or not since people's SN's don't necessarily match their real/FB name. If it was changed to secret, then people would have to email you or Famous through here to get added to the group and you would know for sure that they come from O14.

My only hangup are the people I don't know. No offense to the newbs, but we've taken so long getting to know each other, that it feels ok to be in a FB group. But any lurker or troll can click the link and say they are part of tje group. Look how many randos post in the birth announcement thread.

That's actually not what we're allowing. When you send your request, we ask for your SN. If we don't recognize your SN, then we look up your profile to see your activity. There was one person who we didn't allow in the group and asked that they be more active on TB first because they literally had zero activity here. We are only letting actual O14 bumpies in.
