I have begun to snore loud ugly snores all night. My H said I didn't snore pre-pregnancy; I began towards the end of the second trimester. Prior to this week, a humidifier and drinking water helped with the snoring - however those no longer work. Now I am sleeping poorly and my H says he can't sleep with me at all anymore because I keep him up all night - which makes me sad. I really enjoy sleeping next to him at night.
Does anyone have any snoring remedies? Dr. Google suggests a cpap machine, and I will discuss with my Dr at my next appointment, but wanted to see if anyone here has found a solution I can try.
*Note - we have not yet tried a white noise machine or ear plugs - my goal would be to stop or reduce snoring in the first place.
Re: Snoring...Solutions? I miss sleeping next to my H!
Earplugs for your DH?
I like to sleep with this pillow: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009HHLBKK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It helps with snoring because of the elevation, and I use it to take the pressure off my hips, because laying on my side causes me to wake up in pain every 30 min.
I'm going to ask for a CPAP machine at my doctor's appointment tomorrow. Not only is my snoring keeping poor C up at night, but it's disruptive enough that I myself am sleeping poorly enough that I cannot stay awake in the evenings (and sometimes I even doze off at my desk at work which really sucks). I slept 15 hours on Friday night. FIFTEEN hours. No one should be sleeping that long. I woke up this morning feeling like I didn't sleep at all last night. I think I wake up in the middle of my REM cycles because my dreams are so vivid.
In any case, I'm really hoping a CPAP machine will make be feel better.
Also, try keeping a fan on at night. I like the circulation and white noise. It helps me sleep and it masks C's snores (not that she snores *loudly* but I can't sleep if I hear snoring of any sort).
1)Normally your insurance won't cover it until you have had a sleep study done to determine for sure that you have a problem it can fix.
2). If you are a mouth-breather, don't even bother with it. The machine relies on positive air pressure in your airway. If your mouth opens, the pressure is gone and you get no benefit.
3) I personally couldn't stand the thing because I am an active sleeper. If you move around a lot, you often break the air seal on your mask and end up with air blasting directly into your eye.
If you're not in the market for a new bed (I know we're all saving for baby!!), try propping yourself up with some extra pillows. It doesn't have to be much... you don't have to sleep at a 90 degree angle ;-)
