Late Term and Child Loss

PgAL check in 12/5

Hi ladies.  I hope you and baby have been well this week!  Please feel free to post any questions you may have for each other.

How far along are you?

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones?

Any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions?

QOTW: When did you start buying baby items/planning for this baby?  If you haven't yet, when do you think you might start?

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week?

Re: PgAL check in 12/5

  • How far along are you? 27 weeks

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones? Growth scan Thursday and probably starting twice weekly fetal monitoring.

Any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions? Still can't have dairy :(

QOTW: When did you start buying baby items/planning for this baby?  If you haven't yet, when do you think you might start? I was too scared to really start planning for this baby.  We waited until we got to 24 weeks before I actually went and bought anything for her - I didn't want to go through the agony of returning things again or deciding what to keep and what to do with her things, but at the same time I knew at some point we would have to start preparing for her arrival.  Now I feel behind!

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week? Her growth scan next week - I am really anxious about her head measurements!
  • ikrystal     Praying for you and LO that everything will be fine and that her head it right where it needs to be.

How far along are you?  19 weeks and 2 days

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones?    Just had my A/S yesterday and Mac looked great and is right on track!

Any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions?     Still none.

QOTW: When did you start buying baby items/planning for this baby?  If you haven't yet, when do you think you might start?     I just started this week but I have not bought anything for his nursery. Brooke's room is exactly as she left it and I am not ready to change it into Mac's room. Will when I am further along.

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week?      Just so relieved that Mac look so good. Still don't feel safe but I never will.

  • @ikrystal‌ Good Luck next Thursday!!
@BrittianyM‌ so glad your A/S went well!!

How far along are you? 8.5 weeks

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones? Just had my second ultrasound on Wednesday and everything looked great, next one on the 17th.

Any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions? Just so tired! I really just want very flavorful things... Savory.

QOTW: When did you start buying baby items/planning for this baby? If you haven't yet, when do you think you might start? Haven't yet. I don't know when I'll feel comfortable doing so.

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week? Still just so terrified. I wish this was easier! Seeing so many women announcing their twin pregnancies on my BMB is really just tearing my heart up! I go right back to how insanely over the moon (and naive) I was when pregnant with the twins and there's definitely a bit of jealousy that I'll never have that again.
  • schulme2    Glad your U/S went good! I know how you feel about being jealous of not having that again. Even though I am very excited to have a son, I still wish that I was having another girl. Just don't feel like I got to finish with my little girl if that makes sense.

  • @BrittianyM‌ I totally know what you mean! I mean there was a tinge of sadness knowing I didn't have twins again (but I also know it is much safer this way) and I know a big part of me is really wishing that this is a girl. Obviously, I'll be ecstatic for a healthy, living baby... But I definitely know what you mean, I have all these little girl things I never got to use! :(
  • How far along are you? 20 weeks 4 days

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones? OB appointment on the 17th

Any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions? Nothing much right now. I'm mostly feeling pretty good.

QOTW: When did you start buying baby items/planning for this baby?  If you haven't yet, when do you think you might start? I bought one outfit months ago and have been waiting until we knew the sex to buy anything else since we have lots of girl stuff left from DD and a bit of boy stuff for Nathaniel. Today I found a little sister onesie at a resale shop and I bought it. We also had our first name conversation about this baby the other day. Really we don't have much planning to do.

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week? I was having a conversation with DD today about her baby sister. She was talking about the baby getting bigger and the baby coming and getting to see her and then leaving her at the hospital because she died. I hate that she thinks that is normal and that I have to explain to her that most babies come home.

  • How far along are you? 20w3d

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones? OB on the 16th

Any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions? Just tired!

QOTW: When did you start buying baby items/planning for this baby?  If you haven't yet, when do you think you might start? Well, we pretty much have everything we need since my daughter died full term. In started organizing when we were TTC, and figure out if we had a boy what we would need. Now that we know it's a boy, we're going to get a few things (just some blankets, towels, and I need a glider)

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week? So happy we are having a boy! :) Missing my daughter now that I feel movement all the time, but I'm having an easier time knowing its a boy and can better separate them in my mind. I am worried about the specialist suggestion of 39 weeks, as opposed to 37 like my OB said...but I'm hoping we can all come to a decision we're comofrtable with.

I too understand this, but I have always wanted multiple children, so I'm hoping that the next baby will be a girl and I will be emotionally ready to have a girl, and get to use Ana's things.

@dadalou‌ - that is my worry for my son as well, if we get pregnant, that he will assume new baby will die too. He already asks me often when daddy and mommy are going to die. ((Hugs)). PAL is a tough journey.

Baby #3 on the way, EDD 2/29/16.  Originally twins, but we said goodbye to Baby B at 8 weeks.
  • How far along are you? 21 weeks today.

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones? Next doctors apointment is December 15th, getting my PICC line out on Friday (!), Wesley's first birthday on the 25th.

Any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions? I don't really have cravings yet but I'm able to eat and drink (almost) normally and have been rapidly gaining back the weight I lost. Its great to be able to eat again! I'm feeling some movement but not consistently (which I know is normal but still causes me to freak out every once in awhile).

QOTW: When did you start buying baby items/planning for this baby? If you haven't yet, when do you think you might start?
Like @shandorfml2, we have almost everything we need since Wesley died at full term but I do need a few things (glider, monitor, etc). We moved recently so I already had to take down Wesley's nursery (which was hard) and we haven't starting setting up or buying anything new for this baby yet. My husband wanted to start assembling the crib last weekend and I asked him not to.. I'm not sure why but it feels too soon.

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week?
I bought four Christmas stockings and had them embroidered with mom, dad, Wesley and kept one blank for the new baby. I'm only hanging Wesley's and the new baby's stockings because it feels weird for me to have a stocking that says mom when I don't have any living children yet. I'm trying to be positive and create some traditions for this time of year that help us remember Wesley and do good things in his memory and I've been feeling really good about it but those stupid stockings just crushed me. It's funny how small things can creep up on you and bring such intense emotions.
  • @ikrystal‌- good luck with the growth scan this week! Will be thinking about you!
  • @Bgirma I totally get the freak out about movement. It's getting easier now that I am feeling it more often (I have a very active baby) but when he is quiet, I try and not panic!

  • BrittianyM Congrats on a great A/S.  I know what you mean about the nursery... it is tough to change it.  We waited for awhile as well.  Big hugs and FX that all continues to go well for baby!

schulme2 Congrats on a great ultrasound.  I can completely and totally relate to the seeing twin pregnancies thing - I've been told I can't ever have twins again (we did IVF).  Even though I'm pregnant now, seeing twin pregnancies or twins in general just tears me up inside.  Big hugs to you.

dadalou SO MANY HUGS.  It must have been so hard for you to hear your daughter say that.  Thinking of you and your family.

shandorfml2 I agree on it sometimes being easier when the babies are different genders - my husband wanted a girl because it might have been harder to bring a boy home, at least this time around.  I hope you and your doctors can come to a mutual decision.  Good luck!

stefuge Hugs to you as well.  It must be so difficult to hear your son asking those questions.

Bgirma Congrats on getting the PICC line out soon and lots of love for Wesley's upcoming birthday.  I hope that someday you will feel more comfortable putting up all your stockings - you are stil parents, even in the aftermath.

  • @ikrystal Good luck on Thursday! Let us know how it goes!

@BrittianyM I know I said so already on the pgal board, but congratulations on the great scan!

@schulme2 I don't understand twin loss, but I am with you on the bit of jealousy...I wish I could get some of that naive happiness back.

@dadalou I'm so sorry you have to have these conversations with DD. I can't even imagine.

@shandorml12 Congratulations again on your little boy! :)  I really hope you can come to a decision with your doctors that you're comfortable with.

@bgirma So exciting that you're getting the PICC out!
I have been having trouble setting up the room as well. We finally got it painted over this past weekend and I think that might be my push. I figure maybe getting it set up early will give me time to adjust to "Lincoln's things" turning into "New baby things". But it's just so hard.

  • How far along are you? 23 weeks 1 day

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones? Growth scan Monday, one week from today. Baby was in the low percentiles for size at the last scan (around 3% across the board) so the doctor wants to check in on him to make sure he's growing.

Any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions? Still enjoying the Belgian waffle maker, but making an effort to work in more fruits and veggies this week.

QOTW: When did you start buying baby items/planning for this baby?  If you haven't yet, when do you think you might start? I bought a "rainbow" onesie around 12 weeks and a few decor items around 16 weeks or so. We have everything we need since the room was all set up before, but we're adding a few new decor pieces to change it up a little. Hopefully that and the new paint that just got finished will make sure we don't get thrown off by the room feeling too much like Lincoln's room.

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week? Since we've decided to start setting up the nursery we're going to have to start going through Lincoln's things in the next few weeks. The clothes are going to be the hardest, and I'm nervous about it.
  • @Mel&John2013 GL at your growth scan, hopefully he's just a little peanut :)

You could add strawberries to the waffles....or blueberries...mmmmm

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones? Just had my 28 week appointment today, along with my GD test.
Any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions? Nothing really.  Just putting on weight like it's going out of style.
QOTW: When did you start buying baby items/planning for this baby?  If you haven't yet, when do you think you might start? I probably started around 14 weeks.  After we found out she is a girl it helped me to connect more by buying her a few things.  I may have gone overboard a few times since then.
Open Topic. What is on your mind this week? Really hoping I pass my GD test, and hope that everything goes well with our house closing and move.

haven't really started, we have everything from my son since he was full term. But not really sure when we'll be ready to set things up. We moved so the nursery has been packed down. It's still to early for me.

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week?
Just taking it day by day right now with the holidays.
  • msunshine123 You are heading into the second trimester - congrats! I understand taking it day by day.  Sometimes, we just need to take it hour by hour.  Big hugs.
