Fetal Fibronectin

how many of you ladies have had a fetal Fibronectin test come back positive and actually delivered premature?

Re: Fetal Fibronectin

  • I had one last Monday at 32w 5d. So far still pregnant. I delivered my first at 33w3d.

  • Well I'm only 25 weeks and the main thing that causes these to be a false positive is sex within 24-48 hours and I hadn't. So I'm just nervous
  • My dr told me they are more accurate when it is negative. It's not a guarantee that you will deliver.

  • I agree, my doctor also said it was more accurate when negative.
  • I delivered 2w after I received a positive (tested @ 27w, ruptured at 28w, delivered at just over 29w). All my FFNs had been negative prior to that one.

But, like PPs have said, a negative test is a better indicator that you won't go into labor versus a positive test indicating that you WILL.

You can't do anything to prevent what's going to happen, so try not to stress out about it (easier said than done, I know).
