Does your baby crawl?

I just saw someone's comment to the effect of "wait until they start crawling" and realized that I had assumed all or most April babies were crawling already.

  • 6-7 months is actually pretty early for crawling. Both my older girls started around 8-9 months, which I think is average.

  • no crawling here... we are 6.5 months...
  • The rocks back-and-forth on his hands and knees and then kind of fall flat on his belly. My husband swears he has seen him actually crawl twice but I haven't. Therefore, it hasn't happened!
  • I wish she wasn't mobile yet but oh well the dogs have to learn tolerance early.
  • No crawling yet. Not quite sitting up yet either. But he was born at the end of April!
  • SS Only backwards... Sort-of

  • DS was an early crawler at 5.5 months, but my older DD was 7 months. I think most babies start crawling around 7-9 months.

I didn't realize this at all and since I have no other babies close in age around us my baby crawling somehow equaled all babies his age crawling, which I realize is pretty silly.. now. :D

  • Surprised by all the crawling votes!  My doc said that it would be unusuall yearly at 6-7 months, more like 8-9 months.  He's not really even scooting / army-crawling yet!

  • Casey has been crawling on hand and knees for about a week, and inch worming for a few weeks. He also pulls to standing and is starting to cruise. DS1 walked by 8 months and was running by 9. I think history is repeating itself :-(

      DS1 4.4.11. &  DS2 4.18.13
  • Nothing here. She's still not the best sitter either - about 95% of the way there, but still topples....

As long as there isn't a bigger issue behind it I am fine if she takes her time with becoming mobile.

  • He has been scooting backwards for a month and then a week ago started rocking on hands and knees and army crawling forward. So I think within the next month he will. If he really wants something, he will get to it lol. It's usually not me.

  • DD2 started crawling at 5.5 months while DD1 didn't crawl until 7.5 months. Every baby really is different.

  • He has been on his hands and knees for about two weeks now. That time he has been going backwards and is a master as going backwards now, he usually lurches himself forward to go forward.. but just today he figured out how to move his hands to go forward. He has been taking two or three 'steps' with his hands and then lurching forward lol

  • DD started military crawling around 5.5 months but over the last week has been crawling on her hands and knees. I am one exhausted mama at the end of the day :/

I chose SS because he doesn't crawl or inch forward... he spins in circles.  Or log rolls to where he's trying to go.
This is what Ginny does too. lol

  • I will take my non-crawling baby in my un-babyproofed house for as long as possible.

Yeah don't be jealous. Mine started crazy early around 5.5 and she's pullin herself up and taking steps sideways while holding onto things. I could give anything for my baby who would only roll a foot or two away from where I laid her down.

  • Crawling..HA! My little crazy baby is now walking. His new thing is climbing up the furniture and holding onto things to walk around. He is about to run us out of our house because he is way too active.

  • Way to rub it in... DD is already super pissed that everything is juuuuust out of her reach and she can't get to it despite her best efforts. ;). No crawling here which is a-ok by me.

  • L scoots backward, but man he can MOVE. I took him to baby time at the library and before I knew it he was halfway across the children's area. No forward motion yet.

  • Gavin just started army crawling/pulling himself forward last week. He also, just since yesterday, has been trying to push himself up onto his hands and knees. He will be 7 months on the 12th.

  • Adilynn army crawls...and boy can she move!!....then today she is lay on the floor playing I turn around to put music on and when I turn back she is standing up!!!
  • Ty Henry is not crawling at all. I keep wishing he would, but honestly he shows no interest in it. I recently just bought him this activity ball that is supposed to motivate the baby to crawl. People say I am crazy for wishing him to crawl, and I am not even sure why I want him to soo bad. As I am so emotional and sad he is getting so big.

  • The one area I wish my baby wasn't ahead of the game...she full-on crawls AND pulls up to standing! I miss when I could lay her down and run to the kitchen to get a glass of water without her following me.

  • No crawling. Just rocking back and forth on his knees and then a big flop onto his belly. I am fine with him waiting to crawl though. I'm nowhere near ready for that.

  • Nowhere close. He has never gotten up on his knees. He does kind if scoot in a circle while lying on the ground, but that's about it.

  • I have a full on crawler and have for a few weeks now. I am tired. Be careful what you wish for, ladies.

  • Within the last couple of weeks my LO has turned into a crawling machine and is everywhere. She also pulls up to standing and side steps around the couch while holding on. We just moved so she also crawls onto boxes and got up on all fours on top of the box. This kid completely exhausts me and a part of me wishes I could go back to just sitting her down and she'd stay in one spot!

  • My LO started crawling at 5.5 months. Will be 7 months on Fri and is pulling up & standing flat footed.
  • We're also at the army crawling, standing, and walking with assistance stage. Ava has always been really clingy and needy so this small amount of independence has been very welcomed. She has been pulling herself up on her own for a few weeks now and still gets excited every time she does it. It's pretty damn cute.

I'm glad l'm not the only one. I can't turn my back on that little guy for even a second or he's halfway across the house. Every time we babyproof something, he find's something else to get into. I have to change his diaper on the floor because he flips over and crawls away any chance he gets. And I keep thinking that if he tires himself out that he'll sleep better, but I think it may be time to admit that was a pipe dream.  8-|
