TTC after 35

What would you consider CD1? (Loss Mentioned)

Since I had my loss in May, as most know my cycle has been out of whack.  With new insurance I am looking for a new OB/GYN and have found a group who does MFM as well as GYN.  Which will be great considering I will be high risk.

Well since May, I now spot for 24-36 hours before I start full blown AF.  As things have progressed and I count the spotting at the start and end of AF it makes my cycle 9-11 days.  Discard those and I am about average of 6-7 days.  Does spotting count as CD1?  When I put it into my app at the start it doesn't register it as my menstrual phase.  I always thought it was CD1, but now I am questioning.

Re: What would you consider CD1? (Loss Mentioned)

  • My RE says that it is when you need a real pad (vs panty liner)or tampon. Spotting is not day 1. Hope that helps
  • My understanding is that CD1 is the start of red blood flow.  Happy you found a new group that does MFM and GYN.

  • I just learned on Fertility Friend what the other ladies stated, CD1 is when some sort of a flow starts.

I never knew that, I always counted CD1 on the day I started spotting!
I am not sure how to say this without getting a "solicitation" warning so I guess I just say that I am not longer active on THIS site.

    Yep. Full flow, not spotting.

You mean your period is 9-11 days, not your cycle.  Just for clarity going forward, your cycle is considered the whole thing, from CD1 through your period days, through when you ovulate, and the time between ovulation and when you get your period again.

  • @gscoville yes I used the wrong terminology.  I really don't like AF or period and prefer the term menses.  Thank you!

  • Both RE clinics I have attended have described CD1 as the first FULL day of FULL Red Flow. Hope that helps!
