Baby will only go down if being held....or nursed....

I have a baby that will not go to sleep unless rocked, nursed or held....I'm exhausted.  I didn't experience this with my other kids....as soon as I transfer him to bassinet, he wakes/screams.

  • I will add that he's done fine with being in the bassinet before, but I'm noticing this change in the last week or so..he's 6 wks old.

  • Our first was like this from day one. She only fell asleep while being held (while we were on motion) or nursed... The car and stroller also worked. But nothing else. And I mean nothing. The hardest part? Those naps only lasted a half hour.

It was tough. But we made it through. I hope you find something that helps. It's not fun.

I was expecting the same thing from this baby. Thank God she is different.

Best of luck! I remember your pain.

  • We switched from the bassinet to the rock n play and its made a world of difference.

  • The rock n play is magic.
  • Are you swaddling? Could you try co-sleeping?
  • I'm having the same issue, just starting now around 2.5 weeks. She cries as soon as we stop moving or put her down. She liked the swing last week but now she freaks out whenever I put her in it. We swaddle her, we don't swaddle her, we rock her in the bassinet, then leave her still, nothing works. So I empathize =).

Autumn made 8 weeks today and she was the exact same way. About two weeks ago I was falling asleep with her while breastfeeding, good thing the boppy was holding her up every time. I was so exhausted, I got to the point where I just couldn't take it anymore. I went and purchased the Halo swaddle sack, because I notice she just loves to be swaddle. With the swaddle sack she can't really break free, like she normally does when she's swaddled in a blanket. When it's time for a nap I put her in it and play this free app that I downloaded called baby sleep instant. It's her new nap and bedtime regimen. You should try it, I hope it helps.
  • @bigmamaT26 love your dd's name-I have one too :)

Op, I hear you-this is my 6th and she's my first clinger! She knows when the boob is not around lol.

Like my others, she hates swaddling (I don't do it) and unlike the others-she will NOT take a paci. I'm leaving shortly to go to a class on babywearing, since my others didn't like that but I have got a Baby K'Tan that she seems to like (I want to make sure I am using it correctly).

We cosleep so nights aren't an issue, it daytime-because I'd like to be able to do things like laundry and brushing my hair, lol.
