I don't know what degree it was or anything but I know with my DS I tore internally and had to get stitches inside my hooha... Ouch. Hospital gave me the foam stuff and the dermaplast spray as well as a sitz bath thing that went over the toilet. Those three plus OTC (and prescription) painkillers and stool softeners were the route the first go round. I'm definitely willing to try the ice packs and witch hazel because I felt like it took a while for me to heal that first time. Hoping and praying for no tears this time!!
Also. So, googling Tucks pads (FTM noob) came up with this bullet point for usage:
apply externally to the affected area up to 6 times daily or after each bowel movement
after application, discard pad
By "apply" they just mean put in undies, correct?
My nurse taught me to place them on top of the pad. In the beginning, it was a errr... pad sandwich in my undies. Layered - undies, mega pad w/ice (or nb diaper in hospital), tucks pads, spray dermaplast, pray while you pull everything gently up.
Re: Postpartum healing strategies
But, it's also super helpful. Sounds like the majority of the stuff can come from the hospital or your OB?
Gosh. I am overwhelmed with all the things we need to do and think about in the next few weeks. X_X
