  My pedi said to file but I suck at it and her nails are still kind of long. I'd like to hear from those who clip.

  I clip (like every 2-3 days it seems) and try to file the corner bits a little too. Otherwise they're squared off and still sharp.

  I use clippers and just get a tiny little cut on the edge of the nail so that I can peel it the rest of the way off.

  I clip. Last night I cut her finger and felt like the biggest asshole ever. She handled it like a champ though.

  I use a safety first clipper and haven't cut her skin yet *knocks on wood* I do it while nursing when she's more relaxed. To avoid cutting her, I make sure that her skin and nail are separated before I squeeze the clipper if that even makes sense.

  I'm so glad I'm not the only one who cried more than the baby when I clipped the tip of his finger.
  
  I clip when he's asleep. I push down the skin underneath as much as I can. It takes a whole because I make sure I line up the clippers just right. I do it maybe once a week at most.

  I use baby finger clippers. My DH cut his finger once and felt awful about it- we trim his nails every 3 ish days. They grow so fast and he scratches when he nurses!

  The first time I tried to clip LOs nails I clipped skin and felt terrible. Boy they really bleed! So I gave up on that and tried the file, which sucks. So then I stayed with peeling but would also bite the corners to get it started to peel. Last night I was feeling courageous and tried the clippers again and was successful. I did this while he slept.

  I clip then file because DS has razors for nails. And it's every other day while he's sleeping. I think I even nip him a few times but he seems fine ... hopefully.

  I clip with baby clippers when DS is sleeping. I slid the clippers between the nail and skin and I double check that I don't have any skin before I clip.

  I use japanese baby nail scissors. They get 5 stars on Amazon and I haven't been close to a mishap yet. In fact I can get them so short you can't see any white on them.

  I actually just clipped them with the nail clippers for the first time today, and it was successful so I plan to stick with it. Before now, I did a file/peel combo because the file didn't really do much on it's own. Her nails grow fast, but she doesn't scratch herself, so I've been letting them go longer than I probably should just out of shear terror of clipping her finger by mistake and being annoyed at how ineffective filing seems.

  I think I have the same scissors as @trebekastan‌ - the PiyoPiyo that someone on here recommended. I've used them and they are great but I've also been ok with the baby clippers as long as I'm at the right angle. DH's first attempt ended with blood so I don't think he'll be trying that again...

  Ss here... I wait til she's asleep...if the clippers are nearby, I'll use them. If not, I just bite them off.

  I clip regularly while he's sleeping but this still leaves some sharp corners so he's constantly got at least one cut healing on his face I tried filing but his nails are a bit soft and I couldn't get the file to work. Plus it woke him up.

  I don't do anything to them. Sometimes they start to peel and I'll peel the rest off. They've never been long enough to do anything to.

  We file, but I use a glass nail file rather than the emry boards. It works much better, IMO.

  guys, i feel like we had this post before, where trebek and i sung the praises of the piyo piyo nail scissors. probably where barbie saw it as mentioned in her post.
  
  let me PLEASE repeat - GET THE SCISSORS. you won't regret it. they seem strange but are the best thing ever for this task.

  Another vote for Piyo Piyo nail scissors. I trim DS's nails when he's nursing or asleep and I haven't had any problems so far. I tried the clippers that came with his grooming kit on myself before he was born and they were awful.

  I use the small scissors that are curved too. I used those with my oldest son when he was a baby, 22 yrs ago, an now with my youngest son, 14 weeks old.
