Cloth Diapering

Favorites Things!

Tell me what you love (besides diapers and diaper related supplies).

I like hearing about things people love.  Because then I can find good products that I would like to try!

image

And this does not have to be top of the line or designer.  It could be a $3 lip balm.  Just tell me what's floating your boat these days.

  • Wait I'm supposed to love non diaper related things?
    Those are the obvious ones.

The shea butter hand cream from L'Occitane is my ultimate indulgence for dry winter hands. (Hi, I'm new-ish) :)

  • Well, I'm getting back into make-up.

I'm rocking this for winter to add color to my lips.

I need to get a lip brush though to get a smoother coat on my lips.  But I like that it doesn't have a lipstick feel.

  • I love buying baby clothes for A, and workout clothes for me, plus yoga pants that look like dress pants, and kitchen stuff. That's pretty much what I buy (plus food, diapers, and baby carriers).
Yoga pants, any cheaper brands you would recommend.  Or good brands with lasting quality.  I need new ones.

  • I don't really buy things for myself.

I heart smartwool socks, my oakley sunglasses, and burts bees chapstick.

Also all outdoor gear and the entire REI store. Sigh.

ETA: That's pretty much my xmas list, in case anyones shopping for me.
How are the SmartWool socks under boots?  I need some better socks for under boots.  Right now I wear two pair because I can't get the right fit with them.

And how warm are they?  I have one pair of wool socks, but they are way too warm for boots.

I generally buy my yoga pants from athleta or Lululemon. I only shop for what's on sale. I have also noticed that different store locations of Lululemon have different prices on their sales, so I have tried to scope out the sales rack at the best one near me. They definitely both have good quality, and will last. But they're not cheap, just barely manageable on sale, in my opinion. Athleta also makes fantastic yoga pants that look like dress pants. They make up about half of my work wardrobe.
That's more than I spend on dress pants for work :(

I may need to go shopping in Northbrook and check out Lululemon.  I don't think their tops will work for me, but I really want to try out a pair of pants.

  • @sarenu1, I usually buy my yoga pants at TJ Maxx or Marshall's. They end up being anywhere from $20-$40, which IMO is pretty reasonable. They always have a variety of brands, so it's a good place to try on multiple fits/materials/brands to see what you like.

I noticed that.  Hopefully they'll stock them again soon and maybe you'll be able to get some discounted ones for next year.  They really are pretty cool.

I am with you on the Nook. It became my best friend since dd was born.

My new favorite thing is my Cutco veggie knife. My birthday was Monday and that was my gift from my Mom and Dad. DS got all excited that I have a knife like Pioneer Woman. He watched in amazement as I chopped an onion yesterday!

These were my go-to cups until my mom gave me the Contigo stainless steel traveler cups. Before LO was born, I drank my coffee too fast to need a 4 hr stay hot cup, but now it's a life(coffee?)saver. Bonus points that it's truly spillproof.

I've never heard of it. Is it a salon shampoo or where do you get it? I seriously buy shampoo once a year and never buy the same thing twice.
    nope. grocery store/target/walmart.  it's about $6/bottle

And this one isn't fun but I really do LOVE it. I only love this brand of cocoa and my normal grocer stopped carrying it and I can't find it around town at all.

  • I buy yoga pants at Lane Bryant (I'm kinda fat) or Old Navy.

I'm loving the Crayola twist up colored pencils, I use them for my drawing journal.
I'm also loving the Reese's peanut butter chocolate spread.
  • I'm loving my new JLo jeans from Kohl's.  They have a good stretch, are long and made MH notice my booty again. :-)
  • This content has been removed.
  • Love my pizza maker. It's the one specialized appliance that I've kept over the years.

I'm also loving this huge fleece tie blanket my sis gave MH for his b-day in Oct. I use it more than him.

And I love the sweatpants Carter's has for toddlers this year. Just the perfect weight and super cute OTB.

Oh and I was lurking on Parenting last week and stumbled on a thread about favorite Podcasts. A couple people mentioned Serial. I've listened to all 10 episodes this week. I like it so much I listened to the Slate Serial Spoiler Special today. So interesting, yet sad.

  • I know this has been discussed in years past, but Angry Orchard Cinnful Apple. Fucking yum.

Also for yoga pants: I had a pair of Solow which lasted me over six years before I very literally burned a hole in them when they sat against my heater, and they were by far my favorite ever. For cheap ones I like some I've found at Target. In fact, I need more, because most of mine are cropped length.

@CLLDLL interesting, yet sad?!  Don't ruin it for me!

No spoilers. It's a supposedly goung to be a 12 episode series. It's by a former reporter who was asked by a lawyer to look into a case from 1999 . The lawyer is friends with the family of the convicted (Adnon) who was in HS at the time and was tried and convicted for murdering his ex girlfriend. The evidence against him was pretty thin. So the reporter is telling the story about her experiences digging through all this evidence, talking to Adnon, 're-tracing his supposed steps, interviewing witnesses, etc. To decide if she thinks he's guilty.

It's interesting because you get to see the behind the scenes if how the case was investigated and built. Sad because it's real life real people are invloved, and if he really is innocent, he's been in jail almost half his life now.

No no, I know!  I've been listening.  It is SO GOOD.

I got worried because you said you listened to the spoiler today... and I'd imagine it would be interesting yet sad if nothing comes of any of it. Which is my fear, though I realize it is probably what will happen.

Oh sorry for worrying you. Today's spoiler sort of made me mad. I won't tell you about it, but I think they misunderstood/misinterpred Sarah and were sort of crticising her for something I don't think she did or intended to do.

  • Okay, what is a podcast? I've heard about them for years, but I don't really know what they are. I have a vague idea that they're like the old fashioned radio shows, but I don't know how you get them or what you use to listen to them.

  • I just got some slippers from REI and I'm madly in love with them. I've seriously been wearing them every day around the house. It might be a problem. Also, I love the Burt's Bees Baby Bee multipurpose ointment. I use it on my dry hands. For my lips I usually just use a lip balm from the Super Salve Co. I use Philosophy Kiss Me Red if I'm going out somewhere, which isn't often these days. I also love Smith's Rosebud Salve.

I buy my shampoo and conditioner at TJ MAXX. Bain de Terre argan oil. I love the scent and it makes my hair soft. It comes in big bottles but you can get pumps for them and just use them to refill smaller bottles.

I don't wear makeup very often but if I'm going out I absolutely must use my Neutrogena Healthy Skin concealer. I swear it takes ten years off my appearance instantly. I also love my Bare Minerals glimmer eyeshadow in Heart and my Benefit Dandelion used on the top of my cheeks right under my concealer. Makes me look awake. :)

  • If it weren't for the "Tips from the Top Floor" photograpy podcast, I never would've met my husband.  We met at a photography workshop hosted by a podcaster.

Fave podcasts of mine include "No Agenda" and "Parental Geekery" (though that doesn't publish new episodes very often).  The "Love All Dads" podcast is pretty good too, but really geared more toward dads.

  • My favorite things at the moment are my Kindle, my audible app, and Little Flower Soap Co. lip balm (Etsy). I couldn't live without my Kindle since I usually read in the dark now and I love audiobooks while driving.
