Re: Thursday Spamlosa

  • SO I'm trying to figure out this whole FMLA thing and HR just wasn't helpful.

So I pay my disability insurance at work every month. SO thats what I'll be getting paid with while I'm out on FMLA.

If it weren't for the fact that I've paid that money I would just resign like probably now.

So when should I resign? My health insurance isn't through my work so theres nothing I would have to pay  back.  WIth all the issues I'm having when should I take my leave and put in my resignation?
I certainly wouldn't resign until you are toward the end of your FMLA leave. The few weeks of STD are nothing to sneeze at.

  • @CatLadyTX‌ they could very well be related. :) it's so frustrating. My mom gets her feelings hurt when we bring it up. My dad gets mad. They blame each other for the house being gross. Neither will step up and actually clean. I am hoping the reality of the baby staying at their just doesn't come up.

  • @mahalo3‌ He gets butthurt over it, too. I shrug it off and have no problem pointing out each hazard as J finds it. The only way he would learn is if we stay in a hotel when we visit, and that is really just too expensive. Even then, he would probably have a manchild fit and still do nothing.

  • I had a toothache the other night, it went away by morning so I couldn't go to the dentist. I am worried it will come back. It is a wisdom tooth with a cavity that needs to be pulled. I did call the dentist and they acted like they wouldn't touch me with a 10 foot pole. I hope it doesn't come back, it started to a little last night. I'm afraid of having to go the next 2 months with a horrible toothache and antibiotics and pain meds because the dentist is too afraid to pull it. Has anyone else had a similar experience? I can't be the only pregnant lady to ever have a toothache.

  • @Mego04 I had a broken tooth filled a few months ago. The main thing the dentist was worried about was doing any x-rays while I'm pregnant so he had to blindly clear out the decay and hope that I didn't need a root canal since he couldn't do the x-ray to verify (thankfully he was able to work around the nerve).

It sounds like your dentist is being overly cautious, I don't think there's a reason you couldn't have a tooth pulled with local anesthetic.

  • @Mego04‌

I'm 30 weeks along and just had a tooth repaired Wednesday, with X-rays and anaesthetic. My baby and I are fine!

I've also heard heroic stories of dental work without anaesthetic, etc on pregnant women and I asked my dentist about it. She said it is either a decision the pregnant women made based on fear and ignorance or they had a bad dentist or it could be a pregnant women who has something else wrong with them and it is that something else that poses the risk not (eg a high risk pregnancy for whatever reason).

She explained that while dentistry is best avoided if possible during the third trimester, some dental work should be done. Unless they lack the equipment or something X-rays can be done with the baby protected by a vest draped over your belly. And they use a different anesthetic that wears off a bit faster.

In my case, I had a cracked filling we had been waiting on until after pregnancy but I fell on the ice really hard and the fall caused me to loose half the tooth. So it became a necessity to fix it to avoid periodontal infection.

If you're in pain and your dentist won't fix it, I'd suggest finding a new dentist.

    Good luck!
