STM, are things different for you this time around? If so, how?

Re: STM, Are things Different?

  • This will be my third, and yes! More nauseous, more emotional, more sensitive to smells and more exhausted! The excitement is still the same, I'm allowing myself to enjoy it more because I'm more calm this time about the pregnancy:)
  • Loading the player...
  • Hell yes! My nausea is worse and I've thrown up several times (never threw up with DD). Also my DD is in the middle of the terrible threes so dealing with her drama is exhausting. Since we have been TTC for a while and hit some delays, I am excited for this LO but hoping my second trimester goes easier.

  • This is my 3rd and so far it's pretty much the same. The only difference is I've had a lot less spotting with this one than the first 2. And dealing with the exhaustion isn't as easy chasing 2 kids around!

  • @cabusbey this is my second as well, I have to say I'm a little nervous, I'm hoping that will change after my sonogram.  I know they say each pregnancy is different but I'm not as sick this time and that's making me anxious as well, although I'm very grateful I'm not.

  • Completely...with my first I felt fine until the 3rd trimester when everything ached and I couldn't sleep or get comfortable. This time, I've had constant nausea since week 5. I'm 9 weeks as of yesterday. The first time I had horrible smell aversions, but not this time. And I don't remember being this exhausted, but that could be because I can't just lay on the couch like before. I do have a toddler to chase around. :)

I'm with you. I was just thinking this morning that when I pregnant with my DS I was so sick by now. I'm really trying to not let it freak me out and just feel great that the nausea is more mild as of right now.
  • My skin is drier and more pimply. I'm more emotional. I think I'm about the same amount of tired and queasy though. :)

Yes, things are indeed very different this time around for me.

I have terrible acne that I didn't have with my first born, and I have to actually get up in the middle of the night to pee!

The nausea, emotion, and exhaustion are all the same, though.

This! Pretty much word for word, except I'm a bit more anxious this time due to a mmc last time.

  • Second, and so different. With DD, I was sick earlier (which hopefully means that this time will not be as bad) but I'm dealing with the RLP and the sciatica leftovers from being pregnant with her, so that's shitty.

Also the cravings/aversions are totally different, and just the overall...feeling of my body is off in a different way. Hard to describe that one.

  • 2nd And this one is a little different. With dd I wasn't nauseous or anything. This one I am and I feel more worn out. It's a little harder when all you want to do is sleep but your almost 19 month old keeps you busy lol

  • Yes. This is my second. I am having less headaches but more nausea, way more discharge and pubic none pain earlier.
  • Definitely different. 1st pregnancy was an exercise in how many different things I could throw up or gag over. This one I havent had any morning sickness. More bloated and have sore milk jugs this time around, but feel better overall than the first. Fatigue is the only constant.
  • This is my second and everything so far is almost exactly the same...headaches, nausea, food cravings. The only thing I think that is different is that I'm having a major food aversion to chicken. I don't remember that with my first.
  • This is my fifth time around in first trimester, hoping this is my third take home baby. So far I have had a little less nausea. But more fatigue and exhuastion (it's probably the toddler and baby at home though that are amplifying my exhuastion). The bloat is so much worse too. I am 7 weeks and my pants are getting tight, especially by end of day.

  • Second pregnancy and I feel awful. I had 4days-1week of nausea with DS, this time I'm I've been nauseous the past 4weeks. I don't crave junk like I did last time, all day exhaustion, and I'm not as emotional (although that could be from the Zoloft).

My first pregnancy was so easy in the beginning, 25wks onwards was horrible. I'm hoping for opposite this time, I really don't want to be in so much pain - there isn't a chiropractor in town so I don't think I could handle that much pain without one.

  • 2nd time around and things are pretty similar. Only this time I gag a lot more than I actually throw up. It's just as miserable but nothing actually comes up. DH doesn't remember me being this sick last time but I think it's about the same.
  • I don't remember the exhaustion like this the first time around.  I know I was tired, but coupled with the nausea, I'm dying over here.  I've broken out which I didn't do with DD and I don't have the smell like I did with her.  I know I had nausea with her, but I don't remember it being like this.  I'm good for about the first 4 hours I'm awake and then I battle for the rest of the day.  I'm over it, and I've only had it for about a week now.  :(

  • This is my second and it's much different. Way more nauseous, emotional and tired. I miss napping :(( my hips are already bothering me and I am way more bloated. I definitely notice more discharge and had very light spotting. Also my scalp is super dry but I swear my hair feels greasy.
  • 2nd pregnancy and it is almost identical to the last, though the MS unbelievably seems a bit worse this time and I am less able to deal with it balancing sickness, work, and DD. I feel so guilty for not being able to be cheerful and capable for her all the time. Praying for relief soon.

This is exactly what I'm going through. It makes me so nervous not being sick like I was with my first.
  • This one is soooo different. With my first, I didn't even notice pregnancy symptoms. This time, I'm sick, exhausted, bloated, constipated, starving, emotional, evvvverything. It's such a magical time. Ha.

All of this. My 1st pregnancy I was nauseous and throwing up from 6-12 weeks. 2nd preg (partial molar) my levels were insanely high so I was sick as a dog the whole time. Now this time I haven't really felt nauseous and am actually overall feeling pretty good. Super nervous for u/s on Saturday!!
  • 3rd pregnancy - I feel a lot more tired...I thought it was hard chasing a toddler while pregnant but dealing with sports / homework / our super busy social life / a full time job is wearing me out! I feel like I have no time to be pregnant, lol.
  • 3rd time mom ---

-way less morning sickness than 1st. 2nd time morning sickness kicked in late so I'm hoping that doesn't happen again

-more emotional than with 1st , on par with how I was with the 2nd

    -ditto on extra exhaustion....

everyone is trying to guess gender based on this pregnancy being more similar so far to 2nd than 1st but I don't really give that much credit

  • Ugh @Junebug613‌ I hate when people try to guess the sex based on symptoms. Everyone is already guessing that we're having a girl this time because my symptoms are so different from last pregnancy.

I'm also getting a ton of comments about how we must be hoping for a girl this time.... Ummm no, we're hoping for a healthy baby, don't care at all whether its a boy or girl. And no, knowing the sex will not help us prepare for baby, we have everything we need and I don't think its a bad thing at all if we have a girl and she *gasp* has to wear 'boy' clothes, clothes are clothes, she won't complain.

All of this, except I was calm with the previous two. I think I was definitely more excited the first time around. I think I'll be more excited after my first ultrasound. I'm so busy with my boys that I keep forgetting that I'm pg!
  • This is my second pregnancy and all of my symptoms are twice as bad... I'm not sure if it's because I'm having twins or life just hates me.

  • Not a thing is different pregnancy wise. Thankfully, not much nausea again. But it is different in the amount of attention I'm giving to the pregnancy. Things are definitely different the second time around. I don't even remember I'm pregnant half the time. When chasing around a 12 month old I don't remember much these days.

  • My second.
Same: I've been just as nauseous as the first time, but it started a hell of a lot sooner so it feels like more. I thought I had a stomach bug long before I thought to test.
Different: I've also been super dizzy, you can't even see my face anymore through the sea of ance, and I've had crazy insomnia.
  • This time is smoother so far. Besides sore boobs and no AF, I dont have any symptoms. I was nauseous with DS and none this time, although it's still early. DS is 5 so it's been nice that he's so independent.

  • This is my 3rd with DD I as sick mainly on the mornings in the 1st trimester and feeling tired but with DS I was sick all the time the whole nine months! This one I am sick off and on all day and feel extremely tired as soon as I wake up I want to go back to sleep!
  • This is my fifth time around. With each pregnancy my fatigue and morning sickness has gotten substantially worse. I've found that each pregnancy my food aversions and cravings are completely different though. I think that the pregnancy also goes by a little faster since I'm busier with the other kids. Overall I'd say my pregnancies have gotten more difficult with each child but the deliveries and recoveries from birth have gotten generally easier.

  • So far I'm less nauseous. I'm super tired but I don't know what it feels like to be rested anymore.

My 18 month DD hasn't STTN since last December. UGH.

Dear God, please let her be weaned and STTN by July.

I am in the same exact boat, I think I'm too busy to even realize I'm pregnant sometimes running around after my 21 month old.
