I'm home from work on bedrest for the rest of the day. Yesterday I had my 34 week appointment. I'm used to my appointments lasting 5 minutes, but everything seems to be changing this week. All of Tuesday and Wednesday I've been having 5 contractions per hour (doc said he isn't worried until 6+) and some cramping. My weight has gone up 10 pounds in 2weeks and my blood pressure was elevated. No protein in my urine and my preeclampsia lab work came back in normal range, but I've now had a splitting headache for over 24hours and my blood pressure is still elevated. I'm really hoping this half day of bedrest makes everything better. Being on strict bedrest or delivering anytime soon freaks me out. It's just been a lot to take in with the rest of pregnancy being free of implications and now everything happening at once.
Well. .... Baby passed his NST. \:D/ Had my growth ultrasound after and found out he's breech! Not only is he breech, he's facing towards my back, so measurements were difficult to get. I didn't even get to see his sweet face! In fact, the ONLY thing I saw was his boy bits!
I've never had a baby breech this far into pregnancy, so it's a little hard to process. All I'm thinking is that I'll need a c section.
Dr. Told me not to worry just yet, we've got a month to try and turn him, so she gave me some exercises to try. I asked about seeing a chiropractor to have them try and she was very adamant that I DO NOT do that, because it can cause complications. I've only ever heard good things, so that threw me off. I may still check into it, just to get some information. A lady that goes to MOMS is a chiropractor, so I'll talk to her on Wednesday. She said if he doesn't turn by 36 weeks they'll manually try and turn him. (I called my husband after and told him this and he said " so they'll stick their arm up in you and turn him? "...... bless him. ) ) I am not too sure how I feel about that at this very moment. I've heard those are excruciating procedures.
In the mean time. ... I'll do what I've gotta do here at home to flip him, and hope that he'll turn! I go back next week for more monitoring, and an ultrasound.
Today they said he weighs 4 lbs 13 oz. Though. Nice and healthy! :x
I'm super stoked because I found a nearly complete set of Nancy Drew books online and it was just missing two, one book I already have. They arrived yesterday and it makes me so happy to look at them. I ordered them with birthday money that my parents gaveme and I would have waited to open them until my bday but they were delivered when it was raining and I had to make sure they weren't damaged ;-)
Just curious - what type of pajamas are you packing for the hospital? Would comfy drawstring pants be appropriate, or should I look for a nightgown instead?
I like this nursing top and drawstring pants combo from Gap (PS, they are having a pretty good sale):

Personally I just wore hospital gowns, you get peed on and spit up in so it's nice to not have to do laundry when you get home and you can call the nurse for a fresh gown. I wasn't uncomfortable but I guess I wasn't very stylish but who cares :-)
@bkmama, with DS, I took a cotton robe and slippers. I took a button-up cotton pajama top with drawstring pants, and the button-up was good for nursing (I wore it over a nursing cami), but I didn't much feel like wearing pants with the giant pads and the leakage down there (sorry TMI). So I wore a jersey cotton skirt like this:

Unfortunately you'll want to sleep in something with easy access. The nurses will be massaging your stomach and checking your bottom (if you have to have stitches). I do both, hospital gown and nightgowns. For the day, I do dark yoga pants. Preferably old ones.
@Maebb Yeah, I'm worried about getting pants and then not wanting to wear them. I could always wear them later, I guess, but maybe a knee-length cotton nightgown and robe would be a better choice. Plus, what if I have to have a C-section by surprise. Yikes...
I think I'll focus on getting the world's comfiest granny panties and just bring some ratty old PJs to wear in hospital.
@bkmama, for panties I just wore the mesh ones provided by the hospital. The pads are huge (I think @NatureLovers posted a picture...like the size of a foot-long sub sandwich), and I didn't want to mess up my own underwear or have to worry about washing them later.
I am highly uncomfortable in hospital gowns and as soon as I can, I will be changing - I'm bring a black pajama pant sent as well as a nightgown in case (along with a black robe)
H says I am not allowed to keep my comfy (large) pregnancy undies after this pregnancy, so if they get damaged in the hospital I guess I will have no problem throwing them out, lol. I have to keep one pair to tease him as sexy time though
This is so my H! He had the most terrified look on his face when I brought home big panties for post delivery. He keeps checking to make sure I haven't already started wearing them and fallen in love with them. It's his biggest fear.
I brought comfy yoga type pants to wear during the day and capri pants that I normally sleep in for night. The first night I think I slept in the gown but the second night I felt a lot better wearing my own stuff. I wore the mesh underwear the whole time, just so much easier. I had a short robe that I used a lot too. This time I am planning on the robe, nursing tanks, and yoga pants.

My DH is not brave enough to tell me that I can't wear anything
I'm late to the randoms party today. I had my 32 week appointment this afternoon and found out that the cholestasis lab work came back negative/normal. So that was great news, other than they don't know WTF is up with the itching... OB said he'd run labs again in a week if I'm still itching though.
The bad news is that my BP was up so it's time for round 3 of pre-eclampsia labs, peeing in a jug all day Sunday is what the weekend is all about, wheeee!! OB also made the comment, "Well at least we got you past 32 weeks", but I didn't get pre-e until 39 weeks last time, so all I could think was that I have quite a few weeks I'd still like to keep cooking! At least I know what to look out for and feel fully confident in my OB's ability to handle all of this... just seems like if it's not one thing it's another.
Also he ordered a growth scan because I'm measuring two weeks ahead, so I'm excited to see my little guy on Monday, it's been a while!
I just shaved my legs for the first time in two weeks. That was a TASK! Now that my belly hangs below the top of my legs I had to do some serious maneuvers to get that done! Im not sure that will happen again until delivery :-/

You ladies inspired me from the leg shaving discussion the other day to go to every other day (until it gets warm again). Now I don't shave my legs on days I wash my hair. I don't regret it
Re underwear: I'm thinking about buying some adult diapers for after delivery. Good idea or bad idea? I'm kind embarrassed to buy them.

Depends after deliver is a great idea! Im going to wear them, no messing up panties or clothes :-) & I don't really want to buy them either but I'm sure no one will judge me for it
I have a horrible head cold courtesy of "patient zero" aka my 21 month old niece. She has taken out both of her parents and both of my parents, I am the latest casualty. I can't breathe through my nose. I can't sleep and I am exhausted. That's all I got.
I finally talked to my boss about the specifics of my leave today. My last day will be 1/9 and I will go back three days a week starting 4/7. SO looking forward to the time off though I am sure it will go fast and I will wish it were longer!
I'm pretty sure DH doesn't GAF what kind of panties I wear for the first several weeks post partum because he will be steering clear of that area for however long the doctor recommends.
Last time I had stitches and needed to heal a bit, and he of course was looking forward to getting the green light from the doctor, but until then, he didn't care at all about my panty choices.
@GromMom Wouldn't you get cold in just hospital gowns? That is a good point about pee/spit up though.
I was actually overheated from holding a baby and nursing so I even opened the back of the gown to let air in at times, plus they give you a robe (cotton) if you need to walk around which I didn't.

And my robe.
I always end up wearing their gowns though. I just pack this stuff just in case.
You'll be checked for bleeding pretty frequently, so you'll need easy access.
I even brought some home to wear. Judge me.
I bought the cheap "Grandpa" pajamas that button up.

today has been a pretty interesting though.
