This is my life right now.
I had beef cheek tacos for dinner. I shouldn't have. But they were sooooo gooood.
You always have the best food. DH brought home fried chicken but I don't even want to look at it.
  • @MotherEFFingKatie‌ have they called in the abx for you?

I am supposed to wait overnight and if it hasn't gone away I will call in the morning. I put in the hydrocortisone almost 2 hours ago and it has done zilch.
    :( boo.
  • @sing2phins that makes sense and I agree with you.

Do you think that having officers wearing cameras would help at all? I feel like with all of the social media and all of the information we have access to now there has to be some way to hold the officers accountable for being able to provide proof to support their actions in these cases.
  • @tjhine what day? My bday is on Monday! I hope you have a wonderful birthday!

    lol fetish porn.
Speaking of which, I am looking for a new book. ;)
Have you read the Merry Gentry series yet? It's a pretty good story with lots of great sex jammed in. It's all fairies, magic, and sexy sexy men.

  • @Sing2phins‌ I'm not going to quote because it's long... But you said the exact same thing MH said. "It doesn't happen overnight, it's a slow process." That's what I need details on. I'm not going to take his word for it. How do you know for sure that's what will happen? Feel free to pm me to avoid bringing down the thread. :)
It's actually an interesting thing besides I think I've already brought down enough. :)

Wow, that took a lot of time to catch up.

I love all the xmas cards.

I finished my out of town xmas shopping and DH is 2/3rds done, haven't started LO yet.  I know 100% DH hasn't done any.  I do about 95% of the shopping but there are certain family members on DH's side I refuse to shop for because I always get in trouble.  So now he has to do those family members and wrap all the gifts.

How/why do you get in trouble?

@tgrimes1980‌ Obviously I'm not @Sing2phins but I agree with her argument. To answer your question, you don't know for sure, but I don't think that's the standard you want to apply. What you can be sure of is once any authority in any arena is relinquished to the government, particularly in the name if public safety, it is a very slow process getting it back, and you likely never would. Be very careful about what rights you are willing to trade for security.

ETA: It is always going to be a slow process. Like the case mentioned by Sing with the voyeur, laws are adopted but then they can be expanded to apply to various types of situations. Each time a new case is brought forth that would challenge it and the law is upheld, that only strengthens precedent.
  • I'm waiting for DH's gift to arrive. It should be here Friday. I'm hoping that it doesn't come early so I can hide it without him snooping. I'm buying all the kids in the family books. I'm halfway done. I'm so excited I love book shopping. I got a lot of activity books for the younger kids, some fun pop up books for the kids that are just starting to get into reading on their own, and my niece is getting HP.

We bought DHs little sister the whole HP set last year. I got them off better world books for 4 buck each!!!! With shipping it was like $35 they weren't new and 2 were missing dust jackets but she didn't mind. I told her if she wanted them all at once used was the only way it was happening.

I really want to get her the set that comes with the trunk but DH says that I should only buy them for her one at a time because all the other kids are only getting one book. I want to just buy the trunk for myself and give her each book as we finish them.
  • @cagoldi I'm not disagreeing with what anyone has previously said. But again, no one can answer my question. Maybe I'm just looking at all the positive things street cameras could provide, like when they found that kidnapped girl. Pretty sure if that was my kid, I'd thank the lord for the cameras.

ETA: I need to finish up some work & get some laundry done. Didn't want anyone to think I posted & ran.

I think Sing did answer that though with her response about a reasonable expectation of privacy and how that no longer exists. Street cameras themselves may not be bad news but the premise by which they are able to operate can lead to situations in which your rights are compromised, as she illustrated with that decision she linked. So while you would support the cameras for a perceived benefit, by the same token you are sacrificing rights.

  • @guiltypleasures I can empathize with you on this a bit. I recently had a talk with my son 12 y/o son (who desperately wants an air soft gun) about what to do if he is ever confronted by a PO in any situation. We are a mixed race family (there's a lot in the mix) and I know I will always worry about my eldest in this regard slightly more than my younger two, just based on how he looks. It is such a difficult line to walk between those lessons you described. My son's heritage is celebrated within our family, and while I know he can't always be within our little protective bubble, I still try to extend the bubble as far as I can, as long as I can.

I remember growing up that many of the women in my family had a lot of shame about our ethnicity. A few still insist we are a different race than we actually are. I think that was more damaging than opinions of others, or at least it amplified them. One message that I love that came out the ferguson situation is to not to define the death as a tragedy because "He was a good kid" but rather to frame it as "Black lives matter". Good kid, troubled kid, brown kid, white kid...all of their lives matter equally.
Are we related? Some people in my family are rather ridiculous about this.
