Babies on the Brain

BOTB Confessions?

"Baby Fever" doesn't begin to cover my brain right now. It's more like "Baby Obsession."

We can't start trying till next March and every day is a constant struggle not to think about gp all.day.long.

So I thought this could be a fun poll-type thing...

Confessions: what do you do/have you done as a result of your baby fever?

I'll start:
- I read birth stories every day.
- I've already decorated our nursery in my brain (and redecorated it and redecorated it).
- I've calculated due dates from my hypothetical conception date - which I KNOW will not happen. But I can't not.
- I've daydreamed of pregnancy announcements and newborn photo ideas BASED on my hypothetical and extremely unlikely due date.
- I've read the entire weekly symptoms breakdown on TB.
- I stalk TB endlessly <---- who doesn't?!

I've got it bad, you guys.

Who's guilty of the same? What do you confess to? ;)

That's valid and, admittedly, something I hadn't considered.

I'm sorry if my post seemed insensitive. Believe me it wasn't intended to be.

I love baby gear. H picked out a stroller he likes. He picked a good one that I approve of and will fit in our little ford focus. It is fun having him interested in baby stuff too. Not to my severity of course. Haha.

  • I currently have a 9mo so the baby gear stuff is all stuff we're still having to buy. I have been finding myself wandering into the smaller baby clothes and getting a little excited about the thought of TTC again. We have a baby boy's name picked out but we don't have another girl's name. I'm ready to be pregnant again, but I'm really conflicted because I'm not ready for DD1 to have to share me yet. I constantly think about how old she will be when her brother or sister were born if I were to get pregnant again right now. It's really kind of a weird thought process. We aren't TTC at this point though.
  • - I have secret boards on Pinterest for pregnancy pins and nursery pins

    - I look at my FF app daily too! No idea why. (It hasn't changed, and we can't even TTC yet!) I had a reminder on my calendar for Nov. 3rd to start TTC but I actually had to replace it with an appt I scheduled with my cardiologist. That was super depressing.

    - I have been taking prenatals for almost a year

    - I have researched local birthing centers

    - I have picked a photographer for all of our future baby's first year pics

We have both names picked out

    - We have a plan to tell our families. (It's not elaborate or anything, but we've planned it)

Looking at this list, I'm sure there's things I've forgotten, but I'm already feeling kind of crazy so I'll stop now.

We have been married 10 + years but just NoW ttc. I'm already going crazy obcessed with babies all day long. I'm currently trying to stay focused on heAlthy eating , vitamins, and organizing and spring cleaning my house.

Well, I have only had twinges of baby fever over the past few months, but the urge is getting stronger. We are waiting two more years, but I am definitely guilty of the following:
    • Lurking on these boards and other TTC boards
    • Have a list (in a Word Doc) of names I like and I have looked up how popular they are (I don't want anything that's super popular)
    • I attended a baby shower today and held a friend's baby for about an hour---while holding her I kept getting her to reach out to DH and show him how cute she was
    • While purchasing a gift for the baby shower, I "browsed" the baby aisles for quite some time before simply purchasing a blanket and a gift card.
    So nothing too bad...yet!
  • "Baby Fever" doesn't begin to cover my brain right now. It's more like "Baby Obsession."

Guilty of all of them especially the figuring out when I would announce it to family.

@14whitney ((hugs)) I want to tell you it gets easier, but I don't know if it actually is easier or if you just get used to it.

We've been TTC for 3.5 years and I really think that most of the baby obsessing went out the window months 6-9.  I figure they'll be enough time for obsessing when I actually get (and stay) pregnant.

@alyssa32713‌ you'll have to further feed my BOTB and tell me what stroller you found at Target that fits in your Ford Focus. That's what I need as well. Then I can secretly pin it to my secret "Mini M&M" board (DH and I are both first initial M) and then no longer be able to purchase when we actually HAVE a baby. We've obsessed about names, have a few picked out based on a few scenarios. Hubs only recently got kinda "into" it and it sure is nice to not have to hide some of my excitement. What else... my good friend is about to deliver and I have asked her TONS of questions. She thinks I need to relax, so I laid off a bit with her. Haven't purchased anything yet, but gosh it's hard not to with all those cute things calling out to our ovaries right?! This was an awesome post, thanks @Bridal-Smash‌

  • @capelobster83
It is kind of on the pricy side but we have friends who have an older version of this same stroller in green and it is awesome. It folds differently than any stroller I have used in the past so it is compact enough to fit in the trunk which is great. I really love the blue one.

HAHA! I've done all the items on your list.  I also look online at maternity and baby clothes.

When my husband's cousin was in the hospital, I made us take a little detour by the nursery.

When I made a diaper cake for a friend's baby shower, I had extra diapers and receiving blankets.  I should have given the extra stuff to my friend, but I instead kept them in a box for "later."

  • Okay, BOTB confession time:

I am doing market research for opening a new preschool, so I need tuition rates from will-be competitors.  Some of them have tuition rates online, some don't.  Soooo...I've called two schools today and inquired about tuition for "Oliver" (my future child, who does not yet exist).  I had to on-the-spot give him a name, a birthday, and the type of childcare he is currently receiving.

    * i practice writing my future child's name ( lol is this weird ?)

  • oh and one more...
I somehow found all these videos on youtube of women who videoed themselves when they found out they were pregnant... I started to squal and I just watched those videos for about 2 solid hours.. just watching the look on their faces is priceless..

  • Yep most of the comments are me to the T. My biggest thing is probably my hidden pinterest board! I have YouTube videos and stalked thebump.com. Not ttc until late 2015 :(
  • Well my husband and I are planning on TTC #3 next May-July. However, all of my friends are getting pregnant right now. It's killing me! I've been torturing myself by looking at tons of newborn pictures, reading birth plans, and watching birth videos on youtube. My husband thinks I'm crazy. Also, last month I had convinced myself that I was pregnant. My period was 5 days late and so naturally my excitement got the best of me. In the end, I'm glad I wasn't pregnant but I did enjoy the thought of it for a few days. It made me get even more excited for when it really happens!

  • New to this board! From NJ

I'm guilty of alot of the above. We have a 14 month old and if it were not for the cost of daycare I would be TTC now but alas I must wait until late summer next year so our son would be in preschool by the time LO #2 arrives.

    - I already have a plan on how to tell SO and how we would announce the pregnancy
    - I have a girl and a boy name that I am pretty set on
    - have not gotten rid of one baby item from DS so we are as prepared as I guess we could be
    - have scheduled my annual Exam around the time I would start taking prenatals before trying to conceive
And I too have a secret Pinterest board dedicated to a new LO.

  • We wont be TTC until September.

I have an app counting down to the day when I take my Nuva Ring out for the last time.

H and I look at baby gear in target every single time we go.

We have a boy name picked out and are working on a girls name.

I have a plan to tell my mom if we get pregnant for Christmas (so unlikely)

I have a plan to tell H if it is hockey season.

Ugh. Now I need to go distract myself before I start pinteresting nursery themes

Ha! I had a countdown app too but I deleted it because I thought maybe it was feeding my obsession. But of course I know that my last Nuvaring comes out on June 11 & that CD 1 starting from withdrawal bleed (like clockwork) will fall on June 15. Those dates are kinda etched into my brain.

We are planning a vacation for the week after Memorial Day which has helped me. Honestly, we set this date in early 2014 & I didn't think about it until after our August wedding. I actually feel kind of good about it now that we are down to 6 months.

DH has talked about painting the nursery pre-TTC, we know we both want a pale mint green color regardless of the baby's sex. We also know names. I nixed the nursery painting.

I've started to think of when/how we will tell our family too (mine are all local & DH's are all out of state).

Family members asked about our TTC plans around the wedding & we told them "about a year"- may regret that one. I haven't bought anything for my hypothetical baby yet but my mother bought something already. She may very well have bought all our accessories by the time I'm pregnant! ;)
  • I love watching pregnancy announcement videos and looking at announcement ideas! DH and I have also been picking out names since very early in our relationship, now that we are TTGP it's just a little more serious but we've had a running list of favorites forever.
  • We have a boy's name (2 actually) and a girl's name picked out.

Thankfully I have 2 small nieces so whenever I want to buy clothes or toys I can buy for them (I admit I do buy things for them excessively and can't go into the baby's section without picking something out).

I'm in the process of applying for a new job that will start this summer, so we definitely can't start TTC until after I figure out what I'll be doing, and most likely won't start TTC until sometime between summer and fall of 2015.  I feel bad because H would really like to start TTC now, but he's settled in his job and I would also like to be settled into mine before starting to figure out how to take maternity leave.  Of course, then if we don't get pregnant right away we will both be disappointed that we didn't start trying earlier.
  • I am so in love with this.
  • DH and I are talking about TTC way more than we have in the past, knowing that we are closer to actually starting. We find ourselves perusing the baby section at WalMart more often than we should be. Also when we bought our house last year we painted the room we would use for a nursery grey in prep for future babies (In our defense nothing else in the room is baby related and it is the same grey we painted our bedroom with). DH bought some Hurley onesies and my grandmother has also made a few baby clothes purchases at garage sales.

Me personally, on The Bump all the time, secret baby board on Pinterest, soaking up all the knowledge I can :)

  • We are going to start trying at the end of Jan..and go for a pre-conception drs visit on Monday!

I have a small tote full of kids movies and toys/stuffed animals

I bought a stuffed animal when we were on vacation for our future child (2010 vacation)

I had a Christmas gift made for my neice (a stuffed animal made from my in-laws old clothes) and I had two made.

When I hear names the most common phrase out of my mouth after that is “I like that name…” or I pair that name with my last name and decide it won’t work.

Pinterest, Pinterest, Pinterest – boards about nursey, announcements, newborn pictures

I want to be pregnant by Mother’s day to tell our parents with a gift – which I have already planned out.

I want to do a gender reveal in the summer because we are having a 5th year wedding anniversary/party

I have organized my house based on where I want to put baby stuff

I am already stressed out about creating boundaries with my MIL.

I work at a hospital and think about how cool it would be to give birth there surrounded by others I know

I feel a little more normal right now...

My bf is so excited to TTC but we aren't ready so we have some things decided.

I have boy names picked out because we would like to have a boy, but girl names are up to him.

He picked out the hospital I will deliver at because he was born there.

I have decided how I will tell him, if he wants to be surprised.

I want to get pregnant when I could be due in 2016 so we will be married and living together.
