Nursing bras

edited December 2014 in February 2015 Moms
hi ladies, were almost there

Sorry, it seems every time I try to type
a response, it cuts me off. Searching for a few good nursing bras. I've seen bras some have registered for, but then I read the reviews & get frustrated. Anyone have suggestions (non ftm or ftm w/ experienced friends suggesting some brands over others)?

Can we change this thread to which nursing bras are good? The OP told me we are getting close, so I am assuming I need to start buying them soon.

So on a semi-serious note, I'm not sure if my expectations were wacky or what, but I tried on two different nursing bras at Motherhood and was allll sorts of underwhelmed.

I thought the cup "released" more--it was just basically standing up on its own, just unhooked from the top. So I just shove it out of the way for the baby? Maybe ones with less "molding" would move out of the way more? Do I just not know how nursing bras works? <----very plausible.
I have a few from MM

They clip down from the top and the "flap" just basically goes straight down under your boob and out of the way.

My DH just bought me the lacy dita von teese nursing bra from Motherhood... I hope I like it! A friend of mine said she had one with an underwire and it slowed her supply, so I tried to avoid that.

My full question had to do w/ nursing bras - any suggestions?

Underwire can cause some issues (such as clogged ducts), but can also work just fine. I nursed for thirteen months using a normal bra without issues.

But where is your full question?

Yeah I have friends that have been successful with both, I just figured for my first I'd start without since I haven't heard any issues about NOT having an underwire. Plus it was super cute!

  • I swear by my Bravado Seamless Silk bras. I've tried others, but these are my faves.

  • Today, I went for my 3rd trip to but a new bra size. I ended up having to go to Nordstrom because I'm now a 32/34G, which isn't an easy size to find. (Boo!!) Anyway, the sakes associate told me that they can turn the regular bra that I just bought into a nursing bra!!!! Just a thought... This thrilled me.

@Mommalawyer what kind of bra was that? I'm now the same size and hadn't heard of that at Nordstrom.

@FlutterOfYoshis‌ - It's a Wacoal. If I remember correctly, the style is one of their tee shirt bras. It's ugly as all hell, but it seems to do the job, so far. I hadn't heard that either with Nordstrom & my prior pregnancy, but she told me that yesterday!
