Bad news from Quebec (IVF funding)

I'm posting this because I know there are lots of other Canucks on TB.

Unfortunately, Quebec has decided to stop funding IVF. Previously, it had been one of the most progressive provinces in providing coverage for infertility. Now, not only will they not fund IVF, but according to the G&M, they are banning women >42 from doing IVF at all (I'll be cheering on the brave woman who decides to bring a Charter challenge to that awful law!).

I'm concerned that Ontario may decide not to go ahead with its plans to provide IVF coverage, given its deficit situation, the fact that Quebec will no longer be offering such treatment, and the fact that Quebec did not see any cost savings materialize from the decision to fund IVF with eSET (which was one reason the Ontario government had indicated it would fund IVF). Does anyone from Ontario have any insight about this? I last checked in with my MPP a few months ago and he indicated they were still planning to do funding (although the fine details have not been worked out).

Official diagnosis: Unexplained IF. I am 32. I have low ovarian reserve (low AMH), and poor egg quality. I've also been diagnosed with mild glandular developmental arrest (lining problems, detected with EFT).

We are using open ID donor sperm. IUIs #1-7=BFN. IVF September 2014 antagonist protocol, 8R,5M,3F, 5 day transfer of 1 morula = BFN. IVF#2 planned for January 2015 (antagonist protocol + HGH).

    I'm so sorry. :( I hope Ontario comes through!!

    Aww man, big hugs to you! I can't believe they would "ban" women under 42 from doing IVF what a crock of shit! FX that Ontario will work out. 
    Me: 25 Dh: 25 Married since July, 2011
    Diagnosed with PCOS 2010
    TTC since December, 2011 (SA is Normal)
    2012-tried natural w/Metformin 1500 mg
    11/12 -Saw an OB, bloodwork revealed everything normal except for highish blood sugar levels
    1/13: Clomid 50 mg - No response
    2/13: Clomid 100 mg O'd BFN
    3/13: Clomid 100 MG O'd BFN
    4/13-6/13: Clomid 150/200 mg O'd BFN 
    Stopped treatment because of money issues and began to try naturally again from June-October 2013
    Benched until November 2014 - Started seeing RE, discovered that lining was very thin
    November 2014: Started Femera 5 mg -No response BFN >:(
    December 2014: Upping Femera, injectables are the next step if I respond 
    Also: Changed RE, first appointment on Friday, so treatment is subject to change this month

    That's awful news! I hope this doesn't catch on. I have family in ND, and there was a possibility that IVF wouldn't be allowed there with the last election, but luckily it didn't pass. I can't imagine it not being an option. FX that Ontario doesn't follow suit.

    DH- 29, low count due to a chromosomal abnormality, only option is IVF/ICSI with PGD.

    Married 5/13

    TTC since 8/13

    IVF/ICSI #1 ER 9/14 - 14R, 6M, 6F, 5 blasts off to PGD- 1 normal female, 2 balanced males

    FET 12/8 of 2 frosties - 1 male/1 female - stick babies stick! 

    Beta #1 10dp5dt 444! Beta #2 14dp5dt 2,340!  U/S 1/5-- TWINS!!!  EDD 8/26/15

    HSG- all clear

    March 2014 - RE appt. 
    April 2014- Saline sono all's good, terrible SA results - 8 sperm found all abnormal
    May 2014- Fert Urology- Bilateral varicoceles, recommend Donor Sperm
    12/2014-  Surprise natural BFP  EDD 7/31/15 Plan:  Starting foster to adoption, natural cycles

    I really hope Ontario doesn't follow Quebec. If none of our 8 snowflake embabies work out and we need to do a whole cycle again, we were hoping we'd be able to use the coverage! Hopefully since Ontario is putting a limit on it (I believe one cycle covered for a couple), where I think Quebec did not put a limitation, it will still go through here. Otherwise, the provincial Liberals will never see my vote again.

    And the idea of banning is soo cruel! The sad thing is, if some women bring it to court, it may be far too late for them by the time things go through the system (since we all know these things can take YEARS!). But I'm sure they'd win and it would re-open the door for other women behind them.
