NTR: Bakers, come in!

Normally I rock when it comes to baking.  But I have an issue.  I just got 2 new cookie sheets and they have a dark non-stick coating on them.  I baked a few dozen cookies and they all came out burnt.  I love nice soft cookies, so how do I keep from burning the heck out of my cookies?  Do I turn the temperature lower than it calls for in the recipe, or do I cook them for less time?  I cooked the batches I made for about 8 minutes and the recipe said 10-12.

What do you think?  (or should I just get the lighter pans??)

Thanks!!

  • I usually turn the oven down (about 50 degrees) and bake a little longer than the recipe calls for.  HTH

  • I have really light-colored, old Airbake pans and I can cook nice soft cookies on them. But you could try one of those teflon cookie mats on the darker pans and see if it helps?
