Baby Bullet

So anyone have or going to get the Baby Bullet to make your own food? Or the Nutribullet?

  • I agree with above, not worth the money.
  • I second not getting the baby bullet. I have the regular magic bullet and love it. You can use it for more then just baby food. The baby bullet is so small it's sorta useless for anything else.

  • Thanks ladies!!
  • I used the magic bullet with DS. It's a great kitchen gadget and will last you much longer than the baby one. We use it to make smoothies now ;-)

  • I made all my own baby food! I have the Beaba baby cook that I received as a gift. What's nice about it is you can steam and purée in the same vessel. One batch makes about 1 ice cube tray full of food. (I used ice cube trays to freeze the servings, then transferred them to labeled zip lock bags) I thought it was a helpful tool but I probably wouldn't have bought it for myself.

  • I'm going to get a beaba baby cook, too! I thought for awhile about just steaming my own food and usig my immersion blender to blend it, but after readinf the reviews on the beaba baby cook,I am sold. I love the fact they you can do everything in one little machine, including reheating frozen baby food. One mom said that she received it as a gift, didn't think she would use it too much but with having a baby and being busy, it was just so much easier. You can do everything with one hand! Also, because you. Can steam the veggies with less water, you lose less nutrients in the steaming process, so you end up with a more nutritious meal for the baby!

FWIW, I did use mine a lot! Plus it all goes in the dishwasher, so clean up is easy too. I just know they are kinda pricey so I'm not sure I would have shelled out the money myself. I am super glad I have it though, and plan on using it again this time :)

  • ...oooooorrrrrr you could skip the purees entirely and just give actual food.  Then you don't have to make/steam/freeze/reheat anything.

  • I received the baby bullet as a gift when my daughter was born and LOVED IT!!
  • I used the steamer attachment of my rice cooker (or just a metal mesh collander over a pot) -- then my immersion blender. That said, as PP said we went to real food pretty quickly. He wasn't a fan of purées and preferred picking up his own food and feeding every part of his face. We have no food allergies in the family so he ate peanut butter and banana mash and scrambled eggs - those were his favorites. He once had a slight reaction to Beechnut mangos - but I think it was the additives in the food more than the mangos and its a common histamine reaction (like strawberries) - He can now down a whole mango (if I'd let him!)

I wouldn't mind a beaba to only clean one thing, but as PP said it's pricey
  • I bought the whole baby bullet set. I returned it though. We use a regular food processor.
  • We got the baby bullet as a gift. It was nice to have that way, but in hindsight I'm glad we didn't pay for it. And now it's been sitting taking up cupboard space for months.
  • I got the baby bullet from a friend. Used it a few times. It did what it was suppose to do. But so would my regular blender. Although the containers are cute. We wound up doing BLW instead. Liked that route much better.

Good point. I used mine a lot, but not for very long because real food was introduced shortly after. I ended up still using purees for various things though, like I put zucchini and broccoli in mashed potatoes and I added fruit purees to whole wheat pancake mix and oatmeal. I always left texture in my purees (when possible) and I didn't spoon feed for very long. It's still a nice machine, even if you do a cross between Baby Led Weaning and purees like I did.

And..even with BLW I found freezing to be a great option. I would freeze pancakes and waffles, pieces of chicken, fruits, even single servings of pastas. Even now, I make my own "uncrustables" which are the frozen peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I use whole wheat bread and organic PB and J. (I actually have a tool that cuts off the crusts and seals the sandwich, it was $4.99 on amazon) Freeze them individually, then I can throw them in his lunch box or in the swim bag...whatever. What I'm trying to say is even if you feed your child "actual food" you can still spend time prepping/steaming/freezing/reheating.

  • Veggiemo I need a link for this nifty sandwich sealing tool! That would be so handy!!!
  • I highly recommend a cheap steamer and an immersion blender. I got the blender on Amazon for less than $20 and it was great. I think the Baby Bullet is overpriced and unnecessary. Also, some kids aren't on purees for very long, so you may not get a whole lot of use out of it. With DD, she ate purees from 6 months to maybe 8 months and then we started doing small pieces of our food. I am leaning heavily towards Baby Led Weaning this time. I wanted to do it with DD but I was a nervous FTM afraid of choking.

You picked the hard way of BLW without the number 1 benefit - no prepping of meals!  ;)

Honestly, I joke that all my parenting choices are fueled by my laziness, I mean, with breastfeeding I never had to take the time to wash bottles or prepare formula!

I've never spent a minute prepping/steaming/freezing/reheating any food for my kid.  He has always eaten whatever we eat.  So pancakes are a weekend thing he eats when we eat them, during the week it was fruit, yogurt, cereal, etc.  If I had eggs, he had eggs.  I packed him the same thing for lunch as DH and I eat.  For dinner he ate whatever we were eating.  I never defrosted individual portions for him, because my favorite part of BLW was that I didn't have to.

That was exactly what I was thinking and what we wound up doing. DS3 ate whatever we ate. There was no prepping his own stuff once we started BLW. I made breakfast lunch and dinner for me, DH, and the other 3 kiddos and DS3 basically got fed whatever I cooked. Soooo much easier and less stress and way less clean up. And now I sound like a lazy mom too. Lol

This is one I got, but it was awhile ago and now it says they are out of stock (and more expensive).

There is this one though, that looks pretty similar and priced at $4.99

I find they work perfectly, you just have to put less filling than you would think or they won't seal great.
