DH wants DD (2y/o) to sleep over at MIL's. I won't let that happen because her condo is a freakin' death trap (no child locks, she leaves her meds out, doesn't put away her own cleaning products, etc.). But, I will let her do it at our house after DH lays down the law. Maybe DH and I will stay at a nice hotel for the night. MIL is very good with DD but she's also VERY ADHD.
Just wondering when other moms first spent the night w/o DC. . . .
Re: How was DC when they spent the night with grandparents?
3 weeks old...but he was super colicy...and my mother was an angel sent from heaven. lol.
But..my MILs is another story her house was a death trap, she didn't like any of my rules, he stayed there one night when he was 9 months old...and we came back at 2am...and I swore never again. We just didn't mesh well on parenting styles.
My mom is a peach though...she spoils..but within reason and asks first if she thinks it wouldn't go over well with me. My kids go over there once a month usually...my mom gets antsy if she hasn't had them in several weeks.
Liam is 5!
my read shelf:
I JUST let the twins spend the night at my Mother's Saturday night for the first time and they are 20 months old. She watched them overnight at my house a few times when they were younger but this was the first time they spent the night away from home without me or DH.
I just wasn't ready for them to go until recently. That and my mother doesn't really "follow" my usual rules, (junk food, too much tv etc) but she is their Grandmother and my Grandma let me do things that my Mom wouldn't noramlly let me do- that's what Grandma's are for; right?
I didn't use child locks and I leave my cleaning products sometimes. (I don't take meds.) My child is 3 now but I never child-proofed my house like this.
Guess what? She's still alive! How is this possible, you're asking? Because at 2 (and certainly at 3) she is old enough to know what she shouldn't get into. I tell her not to go into certain cabinets and she doesn't.
WALLA!
Our DD has stayed with both grandparents several times - she does great, if they stayed here I don't know that she'd even know we were gone.
?
I guess technically the first time was a week old (I had to go to the ER at 2 in the morning) but the first planned time was probably about 2 months or so.?
With my parents-- like 6months old I think. With Dh's mom- never, I don't trust her dogs....they are mean and kill small animals all the time. I'm not leaving DS there.
