Any recommendations for where to register?

Hello all. My husband and I spent today wandering around Target and BRU. We are trying to decide where to register. Does anybody have any opinions of which place is better? We also are considering Amazon, but it would be an add-on since not everybody in our family shops online. I don't want to be swayed by the endless earnings refund at BRU, since the prices are slightly higher than target for the same items. Any thoughts would be welcome! Thanks!

  • I had a horrible experience with target for my wedding registry. I got so many doubles and they only allow $500 worth of returns. I was screwed and ended up with 14 extra towels because i had already returned other things. this happened this past august so I'm not sure if they have gotten any better. I'm registering at BRU and amazon.

  • We did Amazon and BRU. Amazon was our main registry and BRU was an add-on for the few people who don't shop online. Amazon is nice because you can link to other sites for your registry. We were able to include our local diaper service and some things from RH Baby & Child in our registry.

  • Register everywhere for the completion coupons and pick 2/3 to let others know for baby shower. I liked Amazon, Burlington and BRU.

Sounds like you got an idiot guest service person. If you print out what is called a "gift purchase log" you can return however much stuff you have. And even if that caps you off (which I've never seen), you can each return up to $70 of stuff each on each of your ID's. And THEN after you have exhausted all that you can exchange any items for other items in the same department. Got too many towels? Exchange them for some curtains or a nice rug etc.

  • I'm doing BBB and Babylist (sort of like Pinterest and you can link anything from any site that you may want, Etsy, smaller stores, etc). My friend told me about it and it looks pretty good (you can link other stores as well) - if you do baby list you can get the registry perks from the other stores too.

Has anyone else used Babylist? Thoughts? My only dislike is that the purchaser has to mark that they're buying you something so if they don't it could lead to doubles or if you merge registries you have to manually mark purchased items.

  • I'd pick BRU over Target because they have a better selection of baby stuff.  We did BBB and BRU.  In the end, the majority of gifts we got didn't come off our registry at all, but that's probably because I didn't have a shower.  What ended up happening in our case is specific relatives called us to offer to pay for certain big ticket items, and they sent a check which we used to buy it.

  • We chose to only do one registry so we can better keep track of things we have and still need. Target is the most convenient store to everyone who may be buying us a gift, and the prices are better. We had our wedding registry at Target, and had no problems there.
  • With my first baby, we registered at Target & BRU. My Target registry was significantly smaller than the BRU list. We had good experiences with both. I also used Target for my wedding registry and had no issues.

  • I'm using diapers.com . They have a great return policy, a great selection, their registry is well-organized, and they have crazy fast shipping (amazon prime status). I know people who have used them with no complaints. I would prob do one of the big baby stores for a brick and mortar one, like BRU.
  • I used Buy Buy Baby and had a great experience.

  • I have a registry question. Did you register for the same stuff at both places if you did two stores?  We're planning to register at target and BBB.  Do I put the same car seat on both registries or just one?  I only registered a Target for my wedding so I'm not sure how it works if you do two different stores.  I apologize if this is a stupid question! :)

  • @teachermom2015 you need to keep and eye on it or you could get doubles. I did this for my china bc one store had better prices but the other was more convenient

  • I registered at target, buy buy baby and rh baby online. Everybody went to target. It's just more convenient for people. I kept having to add things on because people told me everything was gone at target. I did receive a bunch of duplicates. However, I don't think that is targets fault. The registry clearly said I had three highchairs already. I think people just bought what they wanted and didn't care if somebody else did.

  • BBB in my area has better customer service and I liked using unexpired bed, bath, and beyond coupons there.
Wait...you can use bed bath & beyond coupons at BBB???? DH and I just went in there the other day and both immediately said they must be owned by the same people b/c of the layout. Is there a limit on what the 20% off coupons can be used for??

We will prob do BBB and Amazon, maybe Target too.

My BRU accepts coupons from bed bath and beyond and BBB. They said that it is different store to store though.

  • We are doing Amazon and BRU. I would of loved to do BBB but the closest one is 20 mins from my house but 40-50 mins from most of my guests :(

Those that registered at Amazon, how is there return policy with big items? I found a glider on Amazon but I need to know if I can return it if it's crappy
