curious...

I doubt it is anything serious, but while this is my 3rd pregnancy (first 2 were c-sections, last one was 6 years ago), I have never experienced this sensation during pregnancy before... I have had a bit of nasal congestion, which I am used to this time of year, but with it has come a mild cough... Also, not unusual. What is unusual is when I cough, I get a burning/tearing sensation in my lower belly, like I would if I were coughing hours or days after one of my previous c-sections. Anybody else experience this? I plan to talk to my doc about it if it continues, my next appointment is on 12/11. I'm 23 weeks along now... Time flies.

Re: curious...

  • Maybe scar tissue pulling?

  • Could be, I suppose, hadn't figured I would have any issues since it has been so long since last c-section.

But you haven't had uterine growth since your c-section, so there's no reason why the scar tissue would be irritated like it is right now. If it's really worrying you, you can always call your doctor before your appointment.

  • I agree with pp...I had a csec 3 years ago and have had the worse RLP. My dr said if I have another csec she will check my ligaments... With stretching as the baby grows, those damaged ligaments will cause extra pain.

  • Makes sense that it could be the ligaments, I tend to forget about it when I haven't coughed for a while. If it keeps happening I'll call the doc. Maybe baby girl has kicked me in the old scar and made it tender? (My mom says I kicked so hard I cracked her rib before I was born, then my sister a couple years later broke the rib before she was born.)
  • I get that tearing burning sensation when I have been walking around all day, and have never had a csection (or even given birth). Probably round ligament pain.
