Would you think that's something negotiable or pretty set in stone. I'm going to ask him tomorrow but if he says 41 weeks, I might ask if he'll let me go to closer to 42 weeks in order to avoid an induction. Would this be something you talked about now or waited until the time came? I don't want to get all pushy over something that might not even need to be discussed.

If your OB is reasonable then I would think this would be something worth negotiating. As long as you are healthy and the baby is healthy he shouldn't have a problem with it. I would bring it up sooner, than later with him.
I talked about it with my MW when I had DS and they didn't have a problem with it as long as he and I were not in any danger.
GL!!
I had to fight "The Hospital's" induction policy. The MW was willing but "THE HOSPITAL" wouldn't allow deliveries after 42 weeks.
It's a bunch of bullshit. If I showed up in labor at 42w 1 day were they really going to throw me out on the street? No.
You CAN do what you want. But then the medical risk/health factors are all on you and not the doctor or MW.
Mine goes until 42 weeks.
I would wait until the time came. No sense in having a convo that may not be necessary. Plus, you may want to wait until 42 weeks and the time comes and it is necessary to go earlier anyways for medical purposes, you never know what will happen.
I'm limited by the policies of our health system, but I know that if you want to wait here even beyond the 42 weeks you can and they will just offer more frequent monitoring.
I know my step sister back in the US wanted a VBAC and refused the c/s at 38 weeks or whatever to wait a few extra days and see if she went into labour on her own, so I'm sure some doctors will be flexible as long as there's no serious risk to the baby or mum.
I asked becasue I didn't want to be worried about it. My doc says that we will plan to go until 42 weeks unless somthing comes out on a stress test that makes them need to go earlier.
Work it out with your doc. most will try to fit your wishes as long as baby is doing well.
