You're not. I have been feeding this baby every hour for practically 24 hours now. At the end of every hour she double poops--she LOVES pooping in a brand new diaper.
Also I feel really bad for any newborn mom who doesn't live within the delivery sphere of Insomnia Cookies.
I'm awake but it's 10 pm here. Just put a grumpy 3 year old to bed. His schedule is so messed up since little girl was born. Now I'm nursing little miss.
I'm up, and actually have my phone with me this time. V is comfort nursing and fighting sleep anywhere else besides with boob.
So, I have my 6wk ob appt Monday and my husband was going to take the afternoon off to watch the baby. Since it's a holiday weekend he went ahead and took the full day to let me have some me time... yeah. "Me time" is defined by dropping off my car to be worked on while I take their loaner to two doctor's appointments, return the rest of the baby clothes we can't use, pick up a set of spare pump parts, then pick up my car and hope I can make it to the post office before it closes to pick up a parcel on my way home. Somewhere in there I'll try to find a parking lot suitable for pumping with a manual pump, too. Yep, that day of "me time" rivals a champagne brunch at a day spa for sure! Thank you, honey, for "letting" me run the errands that you don't want to deal with and get my cooter checked out to see if you can have my vagina back.
Tonight is our first night home from the hospital. My mom is in from out of state to help, and she is in fact legit helping. She told me she would get up with LO all tonight because she wants me to get some rest...
(pregnancy insomnia means 9 hours of sleep pieced together in the 48 hours immediately prior to my 27 hour labor and of course spending the next 2 nights getting up with LO every couple of hours. I bet I've only had 28 hours of sleep since Monday)
Problem is I still cannot sleep. It's either a continuation of the insomnia and/or the blessing and curse of nature. I hear my baby cry and my eyes snap awake. She gets him quiet about 5 minutes later but the damage is done. I could cry. I have this help and my body won't let me take it...
Edit: spelling because mobile bumping with autocorrect is impossible
I got together with my high school friends tonight and LO did awesome! Before I left, we took a group photo. Woof! Guess I'm not looking as good pp as I thought I was! Blah.
My hs reunion was last night and I was pretty disappointed. None of the people I used to hang out with were there.
Also I hate when other people bottle feed my baby. They always over feed her. My parents gave her 7 oz of formula while we were out and we were gone from 7:30 to 11:30. That sounds like a lot to me but DH is yelling at me, saying it's fine and she is a growing baby.
Argh DD has a cold and she has been sneezing and having a runny nose. I hope my newborn DS does not come down with it. However, my throat is starting to feel scratchy. Will it be absolutely awful if DS catches it?
I had this grand plan to set an alarm and sleep during my 20 minute pump session over night... LO is making sure I cannot do that. He usually goes right back to sleep in the middle of the night after feeding/changing, but not tonight. Figures. @IndianaMommy08 - That is the sweetest thing ever! :x
Up pumping.... Have been slowly switching LO to bfing during the day (latch issues) but just don't have the patience to deal with it at night. H is being helpful for the first time in days, and is putting LO back to sleep after his bottle. Fingers crossed this helpfulness continues!
It's a cookie delivery service that goes until 3 in the morning. I got a dozen chocolate chip, sugar, and snickerdoodles delivered at 11 pm for $10. They have them in ny, philly, and d.c. I think
@AeandJb she will be 4 weeks tomorrow (Monday). Everyone's fix to her crying is to feed her. I did forget to add is that she wanted to feed as soon as we got there (at 11:30) and I breastfeed her. She had finished the 3 oz bottle an hour before. They say babies can't over feed at the boob right?
Home for now but I think I may have left too early. I have a surgical consult next week and was sent home with a strict bland diet. I am still having pains but they said it would be like this for a few days. DS is cluster feeding and I keep getting dehydrated because i am supposed to slowly sip water. A migraine has set in. I feel so terrible but I am going to have to supplement some more until I am well enough to keep up with him. Just sitting up hurts. I am still pumping. I am just completely overwhelmed. I want to feel well enough to care for DS.

Here it is! Lol.. Rough morning for me and bumping..
Morning... I have been reading the thread during feedings and loving tit but the bump would not let me post, but I think it is fixed now.
We have a big day today! DDs cord stump fell off (seems fast since she is only a week today). We are going to go to church (fx for a good baby). And we may go get a Christmas tree. I'm so excited! Oh and not to mention Pats @ Packers -- Go Pack Go!!
Argh DD has a cold and she has been sneezing and having a runny nose. I hope my newborn DS does not come down with it. However, my throat is starting to feel scratchy. Will it be absolutely awful if DS catches it?
My 2wk old has had a cold for the past week. He's doing alright. I just use the bulb syringe to suck out the boogies.
@songbirdsinging55 sending healthy recovery thoughts and hugs your way. If you have to supplement, it's ok. Lo needs you to heal, so try to make self care a priority.
TTC 3/2012; IUI 2/26/14; EDD 11/23/14; DD born 11/21/14!!!
Of course my headlight has to go out 10 days after baby is born. Def don't feel like taking her with me to sit in a waiting area while it gets fixed.
Anyone else suffering from De Quervains tendonitis from lifting the baby and boobs so much? My right wrist and thumb are so bad that I'm wearing my CTS brace again. My dad (an orthopedist) diagnosed it from across the room (and then of course actually examined it) and said it's very common in new mothers due to the sudden increase in activity. Now I can't even pick her up without pain. This doesn't bode well...
On a positive note, we ordered our announcements!
And our monthly bacon club shipment arrived! Paprika Garlic and Ho Ho Hickory .
DD slept in 2 four hour intervals last night with a 30 min intermission to eat and get changed. It was like normal sleep last night. I feel like a whole new woman tonight.
Anyone have tips or tricks on getting breast milk into LO's nose to help with stuffiness? I tried hand expressing into a dropper and that was beyond slow and because it wasn't full it didn't want to dispense well. Do I break out the pump so I have enough to fill the dropper? Is there another way to get the milk in there?
@songbirdsinging55 FX for a quick recovery and hugs. Definitely not easy but you'll get through this!
SFFC: Every time I read someone talk about how much milk they pump and it's greater than 3 oz a pumping session I get mad. It's not personal, my breasts just fail at everything milk.

I have never heard this before? Do you know if breast milk in the nose actually works to clear stuffiness?
Took LO to church for the first time. He was awesome, didn't fuss at all, fell asleep toward the end, and slept through brunch at panera. Handsome dude turned a lot of heads.
@BridgetThoams Breast milk can essentially be considered liquid gold. Good for gunky baby eyes, stuffy baby noses, baby acne, baby dry skin, moms nipples, basically anything and everything because of all the antibiotics in it. There are football players that drink it thinking it will help but it's a little silly because the amount they drink compared to what they'd have to drink at their size is quite different
We successfully tried the side - lying BF position and it's sooooo great l, I've been so tired, I don't know why we didn't attempt this before. So proud of my baby right now.
So I just got home at 11 last night after leaving at 4 and hubby wrote me love notes. These wooden spoons had things written on them at my bridal shower and have sat in a mason jar next to our stove since we bought our house. I came home to find a love note about each spoon. Cue tears and undying love for the hubby :x
So sweet!

Why does everyone we let hold our baby feel the need to incessantly bounce and burp her? She didn't just eat is is perfectly content to be held still. All the bouncing just makes her more gassy. The natural inclination to pat baby on the back and bounce her just kills me.
Hubby and I have decided to address it right when we first hand her to anyone and say, "Oh, and she likes to be still, she doesn't like to be bounced or burped and it gives her gas."
My rant: I know people want to visit but I find these visits so exhausting. Everyone just comes to hold the baby. This is nice, but she's a good baby so not much help since she'd be fine in the rock n play.
And they create more work for us. More dishes. Dh had to move my sisters car, pick up dinner (we would have eaten leftovers). They stay too long (on thanksgiving SIL and bil stayed way past our bedtime). I am so tired. I can manage when it's just me and dh, but other people make me cranky. I feel like such a jerk.

Ugh THIS!!!!! We have literally had company for the last 11 out of 14 days. I don't want to sound like a bitch but I want to tell people to go away! I'm just exhausted and 99.9999% of the time people pop in right when DD is going to nap..then she wakes up and stays awake and then they leave me with a fussy baby! I told DH that after today we are locking the doors for the next week.
All I want is to take a nice warm bath... The hospital nurses told me no baths for 6 weeks pp. I'm 3 weeks pp and only had a small 1st degree perineal tear with stitches. How bad would it be if I broke the rule and took a bath. Would it dissolve my stitches or any other bad effects? I've felt "healed" down there since 1 week pp.
I actually took a bath in Epsom salts the other night at 2 weeks pp. I didn't know we couldn't take a bath? Whoops. IMO it actually helped things drastically. I felt so amazing when I got out. It has not negatively effected my healing so I would say go for it?
@danigirl830 - how are you handling keeping them out of your life? I'm having some guilt lately keeping my MIL out of her granddaughters life. I've mentioned before that she's an awful person and its DHs choice to not include her in our life or Brooke's but sometimes I feel really bad.

Wait ... whaaaaat? I know what's going on my list this year!
@Carebella I don't know what kind of stream you get, but I have inadvertently squirted breastmilk up V's nose several times just breaking her latch & pulling away... so I would imagine the easiest delivery for clearing up nasal congestion would be just to give your boob a little squeeze in that general direction around let down.
@OLJ1010 ugh, big hugs. It's hard for me to make myself walk into a funeral home at any time. I can't imagine how especially difficult that was for you this afternoon!
Big hugs to everyone, actually. Adjustment is hard!

Add me to this list too. LO is 2.5 weeks and we have LITERALLY had a visitor EVERY.SINGLE.DAY since she has been born. I blame her not wanting to sleep unless held on the endless visitors holding her all day. Right now we have no visitors scheduled until next Sat and I'm gonna say no if anyone asks!
