  • Yeah, that typing is giving me a headache. Your baby will come when it's ready.

  • Everyone experiences that. It's your body preparing itself for labor.

Please don't capitalize every word. It is difficult to read.

  • I know sleepless nights really suck, maybe you can talk to your doc about taking half a unisom before bed, you need to get as much rest as possible because you'll be wishing you did once that baby is here.

Why don't you get out and about and try your best to enjoy the last few weeks of being able to, on a whim, get your hair and/or nails done, see some friends, go window shop for Christmas at the mall, I don't know - anything but sitting around timing pointless contractions that may very well last only another week OR 5 weeks, seriously - there's better stuff to do.

If you don't feel like being out and about, pick up a 'page turner' book (reading uninterrupted will become a luxury you may not get back for a LONG time), watch some pregnancy documentaries, do some crafts.. just, occupy yourself. Maybe busier days will make the time go by faster.

Also, I'm sorry you feel so 'ready', because again, it could be weeks. If your baby were ready to come out, it'd be here, but.. obviously baby is staying put so.. hang in there.

Sorry about the bed rest, that -does- suck. Also, nobody is judging you, but just because your doc has stopped the meds doesn't mean the baby is going to come, it just means that it's no longer flat out dangerous for the baby to come out, nonetheless, under 38 weeks is no joke. Newborns, internal organ development aside, lose about 10% of their body weight after birth, sometimes more, and smaller/younger babies have issues latching - my daughter was only 6lbs, every ounce lost and every failed latching attempt was heartbreaking to me, it's hard for me to understand why anyone would sign up for that willingly.

Also, just because my daughter was born early and was okay, doesn't mean that this baby, this time around would be - they're two different humanbeings, so I try to never compare. Again, if your baby were ready, it'd be here by now, but clearly.. there's still waiting to be done.

Now that you're off the meds are you also off bedrest then?

Edit to add: if you sit around waiting for the baby, and doing nothing but hoping for the baby to come that very day, the days are going to drag and drag on, I promise, so my initial suggestion still stands, do your best to occupy your time and try not to make every day's goal to have the baby out.

  • You might be ready but your baby isn't and it's not about you anymore. I hope you make it to 40 weeks as that's what's best for baby but you may have almost 5 weeks left so chill

No it's not. It is considered late term. It got changed. It sucks that you are in pain and such, but as a mom of a baby boy who was born small at 37 weeks, I would've given anything to be able to make it to term. Take some of the advice. This topic never gets warm and fuzzy responses.

I was merely looking fo women to identify with my situation....My question was actually in regards to the contractions starting and stopping bc i never experienced this with my first son. What i don't need is ppl who have lost social skills from being on the internet 24/7, making me feel guilty.

I did read it. I responded accordingly. I said that it's normal. Everyone experiences it. Your body is getting for real labor. You don't have to look hard to find someone to identify with.

Omg - I don't know if I can go on living in this world. We stopped at Krispy Kreme today, and I pointed to chocolate glazed donuts and got 2, one for tonight and one for tomorrow morning with my coffee.

And curse this world, CURSE IT. There was no label on them, I assumed they were custard filled but they are indeed whipped cream. #DontWannaLiveInThisWorldAnymore.

I don't know if sharing this here is enough, I should probably make a separate thread. Also, I'm 37 weeks on Monday (ticker off, was too lazy to adjust it after my due date got rolled back a few days), so that's when we get our medals, right?

This got changed to 39 weeks like a year ago so no 37 weeks is not full term.
Doctors still consider 37 weeks full term.  I am 37 weeks and 5 days, my doctor said at my 37 week check up that I was full term.

I understand what you're feeling.  Though I am not on bed-rest (I am terribly sorry to have read that, that can't be very fun) I am almost 38 weeks pregnant and I feel done myself.  And before people jump on me as well, I know my baby isn't "done" yet which is why she isn't here, but the last month of pregnancy has been incredibly uncomfortable so I don't blame you for being ready to meet your baby.
  • I think i am the only one secretly hoping that i will go over my due date.   I'm not ready for baby to be here, plus the sooner baby comes out, the sooner i go back to work and then i have to pay double daycare for both DS and new baby.  I'm all for baby cooking as LOOOOONG as possible.

OP take a pill.  baby will come when its ready.

  • @dbussolini‌ : your doctor needs a refresher & you are wrong.

"The work group recommended that the label “term” be replaced by the designations early term, full term, late term, and postterm to more accurately describe deliveries occurring at or beyond 37 0/7 weeks of gestation (Box 1). The group recommended that the use of the label “term” to describe all deliveries between 37 0/7 weeks of gestation and 41 6/7 weeks of gestation should be discouraged."

Recommended Classification of Deliveries From 37 Weeks of Gestation

    Early term: 37 0/7 weeks through 38 6/7 weeks
    Full term: 39 0/7 weeks through 40 6/7 weeks
    Late term: 41 0/7 weeks through 41 6/7 weeks
Postterm: 42 0/7 weeks and beyond

  • Why don't people ever just want to let their babies come when they are ready? It's not about you anymore! Sorry, I know how much pregnancy sucks but seeing your baby in the NICU is far worse. My ds was born at 38 weeks and he hadnt developed his suckling enough for me to EBF which now I know is ok but I still feel like I missed out on a precious bonding experience with him. *vent over*
  • In nz 37 weeks is full term. How is it different in other countries? Serious question not looking for any arguments. Ive asked my MW she said it's possible to have been already pregnant before your last cycle had started. Your LO has to go through labour with you so its just waiting till its ready (: the contractions are a good thing. Preparing your body for whats to come.
  • Seriously? Darling I've been having braxton hicks since 27 weeks. Was but on bed rest at 32 for dilating to 3 centimeters too early. At 39 weeks my braxton hicks were so horrible, 5 minutes apart, bloody show, made me loose my mucus plug. Went to the hospital..... false labor! I'm now 41 weeks & 4 days. & I'm not rushing or complaining about anything. Because the last time I did all that I was induced & that turned into a csection. Wasn't amazing at all. Your baby will come out when it is ready. 37 weeks is still so very early.

For the last two weeks I have been having contractions that are about 10minutes part and last an hour. Its early labor and can be very frusterating, but it is a sign ur body is getting ready and the big day is close. Im 39+4 and ready to meet my little girl, but she will come when she is ready.
Im still working so that helps pass time. Being on bed rest im sure is extremely hard. Try puzzles, take up a new craft. Hang in there!

  • Sorry you're having a rough go. I'm 39.5 weeks myself & have been 'ready to go' since week 37 too lol.  For me it's a bit different, due to some medical stuff that happened around conceiving our due date is hazy & multiple Drs have told me that 'anytime after week 35' is fine & dandy... again, this is specific to MY pregnancy, not medical standards.  My LO is measuring big & healthy & WOW what a kicker. Am happy she's doing well in there but at this point the movement (esp when she gets excited) is SUPER painful as she's got so little room left... was hoping she'd come this past weekend, but she's got other plans... now I'm hoping she stays put until after the holiday... but time will tell.  I feel your frustration & hope everything works out :) Hang in there!!

@RedheadBaker‌ yeah you can be pregnant before your last period it would have just been light or shorter. So they scan you to check your dates are in range for bubbas size. If your sure of your date from the first day of your last period and your baby has measured big right through, it may not be that your LO is big at all she/he was just concieved a little earlier then everyones expecting. And may come before our predicted full term.

Still there is no need rush our little one when they are also tired and uncomfortable. we may be so ready but they may be just a little cozy still growing extra hair or eyebrows, eyelashes :). With all those tightening contractions your baby will soon want to be in your arms STM your body knows how to deal with your body, baby and birth (: that is so cool. Its readying itself all on its own. Goodluck youll soon have your new baby if not already ♡
  • Sorry my mistake for calling it a period and cycle its more of bleeding for a few days or so but can still be mistaken. I remember spotting and thinking there it is I cant be pregnant lol but of corse i was. I researched it and there are definetly differences but if your cycle isnt bang on regular all the time it is quite easy to get mixed up and when asked for dates you may give the ones you believe are right
