Most of all, that DS1 is eating actual food now, even if it's still pretty limited. We owe it all to his BCBA and everyone who works at the ABA facility. It was so stressful when he was barely scraping by on milk and fruit puree.
I am thankful for a healthy pregnancy so far. The Harmony test came back with a 1:10,000 chance for the trisomies. I am just starting to feel the baby move and have been able to relax a little. Hoping for the remainder of the pregnancy to be healthy. We have the anatomy scan on Dec. 8.
Other then that, I am thankful for my family and friends, that my husband still has a job, and that my kids are growing and happy.
I'm not sure I can encapsulate my gratitude this year into words. I'm so thankful for our doctors, for Botox, for pharma companies that create these drugs, for schools that value the disabled population, for love, for hope, for progress.
Since last Thanksgiving DS1 has started walking and really become a boy. He was so babyish still last year and now he is a kid. He is so engaging, funny, sweet, wild, and impressive. He has grown into a personality that I never would have expected him to have and it's amazing every day. I never take one moment of walking for granted. I am still awestruck to watch him "run" barefoot and then to look back only 6 months to his first steps while wearing sneakers and orthotics. I am so amazed by him that it brings tears to my eyes at times.
Since last Thanksgiving DS2 has started crawling, pulling to stand, and walking with a walker. He has this in your face personality. His attitude is as big as his cheeks. He has much more cognitive skills than DS1 and I'm in awe of watching him develop. It's amazing to see how level their playing field is despite a 2 year age gap. He still loves to eat everything in sight and I am still so thankful to have a child WITHOUT feeding issues. I still spend every minute worrying about DS1's eating and weight and to realize I never have a moment of that with DS2 is phenomenal.
I am grateful for all of our health. DH had mono last year and it was a tough year. This year will be much better. I'm grateful that the boys are holding up neurologically and that DS1's seizure activity hasn't increased.
I am so grateful for our neuro who has treated kids with this diagnosis and is not aggressive with treating the side effects of their diagnosis.
I am so grateful for the raw emotions of the other parents at DS1's school. I'm not in this alone. These women get it. While this is normal and our children bring us joy and love and happiness just as other children bring their parents, our lives are harder. Whether it be physically (carrying nonambulatory children at an age when they wouldn't be caught dead holding your hand) or psychologically (a child with challenging behavior despite knowing they're brilliant and still struggling in school).
I am grateful for DH's steady reliable job in this tough economy. I am grateful for the opportunity to be SAHM.
I am grateful for hope and for all the blessings I do have in my life. None of us have had it easy. I've had cancer, a rare bone disease, DH suffers from depression, his Mono came back, I passed on my mutation and both boys are affected, but we have running CLEAN water. We have ample food on our table every day. We have heat on demand, and air conditioning in the summer. We have two vehicles and freedom. Which compared to most of the world, we are living in luxury.

Other then that, I am thankful for my family and friends, that my husband still has a job, and that my kids are growing and happy.
*That DD got here safe and sound, and that she seems to be NT (though admittedly it's early to know that for sure).
*That DS has made some big strides in the last year, particularly with language.

An old friend's DS who is DS's age is fighting ALD and another HS classmate of mine is battling a difficult cancer. She has two small kids.
Puts things in perspective. Good health for me and my family is basically all I care about. Everything else can be dealt with.
