At recess on Monday DD fell in the mud and her back and legs were completely covered. The nurse called and said she needed a change of clothes and shoes. I wasn't sure if DD would be upset when I got there because when she was younger she used to freak out if she got so much as a drop of water on her clothes.
When I got to the nurse's office DD was absolutely fine. She had missed lunch, so the teacher was going to let her eat at a table in the classroom, so she didn't miss any lessons. DD was fine with that, too. I'm amazed at how she went with the flow through the whole thing. The teacher said she didn't get upset AT ALL! Emotional self-regulation FTW!
DD1 finally can ride a bike without training wheels!
It was a long time coming. A couple of years on a balance bike, then getting a pedal bike that was too big for her, to a hunt on CL for a slightly smaller one and her insisting on using training wheels at first. I think part of the final push was DH showing her a very cool youtube video a couple of weeks ago on a guy trail riding and doing all kinds of tricks.
The very cool part, though, was once she decided to do without the training wheels, she has pretty much gone straight to riding (still working on turns). She's very steady. Comparing that to my own experience of learning to ride a bike, I think the balance bike was great for teaching balance so that there have been very few falls once she added pedals. My own experience was a lot more painful. :P
DS had been only saying "Go" after I would say "Ready, Set......" Yesterday, I woke up to him poking me with his empty sippy cup saying "Go, go, go, go, go, go." This is the longest that he's kept a word, and he's using it by himself.
He also kept a hat on his head for almost 2 minutes. He even put it back on his head when it fell off. He's very sensitive to things being on his head/face. In the past when I've tried to put hats or hoodies on him, he would flip out.
Today DS was pulling the cushions off the couch and being silly. So, I rolled with it and said, "Who's making this mess?". His response,"I meshy (messy)". Yes, you sure are sweetie . Messy is a new word.
