    Generally, sex refers to a person's anatomical organs, while the gender is how one considers themselves in society-- LGBT, etc.

    Sex- what is between the legs

    Gender -what you truly are on the inside

    While for many people their external genitalia matches their gender, you also have transgender, bisexual, and other people that do not attach traditional gender roles to themselves
