Can we talk panties?

Ok so what are your ladies go to in the panty/underwear department? Or have any recommendations in style or brand?

My VS briefs are starting to get a little uncomfortable. Thongs with the lace top that stretch aren't so bad. Wondering if I should invest in some pregnancy underwear or if there is something better out there.

  • I'm totally with @saltbox40 on this one. Grannies are the way to go. SOOOOO comfy.

  • I got panties from motherhood. They are AMAZING.
They are not sexy..at all, but they feel great.

  • Some hanes have a semi-padded feeling waist band. It's a thin band but I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE them. They keep tags away from scratching me and don't slide down as my bump gets bigger.

  • I'm a granny panty type.  currently wearing one size too-big lane Bryant bikini cut (which is more like a high leg brief).

I don't like things under my gut/baby belly - so I go for things that are stretchy and tall enough to go over the belly and not roll down.

I had motherhood preg panties (granny style) and they were OK but I think this time I will just stick with my one-size up full cut undies.

What happens when you have nasty discharge or sniss and you're not wearing any?!
Mine is generally only bad at night -- I wear them to sleep in since being pg.

  • I am interested in this too; I was looking for something to wear for thanksgiving and saw maternity underwear. Are they necessary? I usually wear low-cut bikini cut style so my bump hasn't gotten in the way or anything.

Also, @carter604‌ I have the best of both worlds! I wear my comfy cotton ones for day time and only wear the cute ones in the evenings/night. I don't see the point of wearing cute undies to work when they aren't as comfy to me and no one sees them!

My VS ones started sorta falling down. I bought some of the microfiber no lines Hanes ones in a size up. Super comfy in a more boy short cut. I didn't want to invest a lot since the discharge is sorta on overdrive. Panty liners are also awful to me. Super uncomfortable. Any recommendations for thin ones that don't feel like a diaper?
  • The Motherhood Maternity bikini brief ones are fan-f'n-tastic. Sit below the belly for comfort but don't dig into the hips or leave my (ever-widening) ass falling out. I too had to abandon my VS faves after they left red marks from digging into my belly and hips.

  • Bought VS low rise panties in a size larger.  H&M also sells maternity undies online.
  • Loving my granny panties. I think i do fruit or the loom though i think.

I'm glad to know my ass & hips aren't the only ones expanding. From the looks of my old coats, I'd say I'm + 3-4 inches.

  • Random grannie panties. No particular brand.
  • +1 for the granny panties. I also love undies that fall in the boy shorts category. Just because they are bigger/cover more doesn't mean you can't find some sexy ones. I found some lace ones at VS a while ago, and at Macy's.

I refuse to wear thongs since the one time I got a UTI, my OB told me that a thong is basically floss for your ass, and all the bacteria from your butt gets "flossed" to the front when you move/bend over. Gross.

I jut bought VS low rise cotton boy shorts in a size larger. I love them! I guess I'm a low rise underwear kinda gal.

  • I currently wear low/mid rise cotton Hanes. They are comfy and will last the duration of PG and postpartum. I wouldn't spend money on maternity underwear, just not worth the investment IMO.

  • I'm full time in maternity underwear, it's so comfortable, mothethood maternity dosent dig in, and super comfortable.
  • I still love my VS cheekies. (Thongs are evil and Granny panties or briefs are too high-waisted for me and I still end up with a wedge.) Most of the cheekies are super stretchy, too. Still fitting into my regular size, but I plan on buying a bunch in a size up this weekend while they're on sale.

I'm a cheekies lover, too. I didn't have to size up in my first pg but I might have to this time.

I vote aerie boyshorts with lace waistbands. For some reason the lace waist band seems stretchy-er and less visible.

edit: I feel that I should also add that I am fine in regular (lowrise) undies up until month 8-9 (at least last time and so far this time).
  • I like the fold down ones from motherhood that someone already posted a link to. The waistband is super soft and stretchy and I can wear them as low or high as I want.
  • VS lacies. Especially since I wear leggings about every day now
  • The most comfortable for me at the moment are the VS lace thongs. Although most of my normal thongs are still comfortable. I don't like the feeling of any other type of underwear.
  • I'm still wearing my pre-pregnancy underwear, mostly VS, aerie and Target bikini cut.  I have a drawer full of lacy thongs that I just can't even with right now.  Every 3 days I remind myself that I need to buy a few new pairs since half my stuff is out of rotation, but haven't actually done it yet.  Maybe during black Friday sales.

  • I wore the Hanes granny panties last pregnancy too, but have since discovered the Soma vanishing edge and cannot fathom wearing anything else for now. If they get to be uncomfortable when I get bigger, then I'll switch back to a pack of the ol' grannies, but seriously, these undies are the BEST. EVER. and have absolutely no panty lines and they don't move at all. Seriously. Buy them!
  • I second the granny panties post. I have been in granny panties since week 10 I think. SOOOO much more comfortable. We are uncomfortable enough, why make it worse with sexy panties?
  • I love Soma's vanishing lines. You can get them in any cut, but I love that they don't leave a panty line, nor do they slide around. They have grips on the inside.
  • I wear hanes or fruit of the loom, then after pregnancy and all the mess stops, I just throw them away and go back to nice underwear.

  • I wear VS bikini underwear. They are the only ones I wear anymore. Super comfy and in cute designs! (:
  • I'm in Canada, and got the Thyme Maternity equivalent of the Motherhood ones. I love them - I actually was just starting to transition out of them 5 months PP after DD, when I got KTFU again, and am now back in them. They are super comfy, and well worth it.

  • I recently got a super awesome belly support band that holds up the belly and makes it easier to just stick with my regular underwear. But I do have some maternity underwear for those I-want-to-feel-very-pregnant days. Sorry I can't help with brands, doubt our South African brands will be available anywhere else.
  • I wore my vs v-strings through my whole pregnancy with my daughter. So far this pregnancy, even with twins, I'm carrying the same way so hopefully I'll be able to do the same.
