Extra heat beats herd on Doppler.

I had a appointment with the midwife today an she listened to my sons heart beat, she said it sounds like the heart was beating one extra. So she has requested for me to go for an ultrasound to get him checked out. She also said that the baby will grow out of it? Has any one else had this before?
His heart was beating at 148
I'm 25 weeks an 2 days

Re: Extra heat beats herd on Doppler.

  • What do you mean by "beating one extra"? A heart rate of 148 sounds fine... I guess I don't understand your question.

  • Ya mine was 150 and it was normal...... so do you mean that she thinks you are having twins?

  • What are we herding? I'm assuming you meant "heard"...

  • My daughter has that and a hole. She sees a Pediatric heart doctor and he told us that it normally goes away on its own. She just has to see him every six months for a check up till both go away. Neither affect her though and he said even if it never goes away it won't affect her quality of life. She will just continue to be monitored to make sure.
  • Yeah, call it pregnancy brain but it took me forever to figure out what this thread title was actually supposed to mean.  I read it like a newspaper headline, as in the "herd" was beaten by "extra heat" on doppler.  Kept trying to figure out what on earth extra heat on the doppler might mean and why a herd of anything was involved.

Sorry, OP, I'm really not making fun of you being concerned, and I'm glad your doctor seems positive about the situation.  But your question is almost impossible to understand, and clarifying might get you better answers.

  • Extra heart beat like it was fast? Mine have always been both above 150 except when I was coming out of anesthesia they were in the 130's. 148 isn't that fast.
  • I THINk she's talking about a murmur. If that's the case, OP, we can't ease your fears. Only the u/s can. Sorry :/

  • Why doesn't the OP come back and clarify what she meant??
  • Probably a murmur. Most will go away after birth. Ultrasound will clarify if there's any need for intervention after birth.
