Re: Which stroller?

Looking because it was doing my head in !! I think I will wait until I look locally

Neither? The lite way has a crappy sunshade. And Gracos are just clunky. Get a Baby Jogger stroller like a City Mini. The City Lite is cheap on amazon today.

@Blergbot‌ have you gone into a store & played around with these? Just asking cuz they were both not on my radar. I second baby jogger citi mini, for an overall great light collapsible and in the affordable range :)

We just registered for the city mini GT yesterday- though not sure if it's a better option than the regular city mini. But it felt really smooth in the store. We were between the city mini and the britax agile b- Graco wasn't on our radar either.
  • Options
We registered for the chicco bravo trio, it's a travel system. Chicco has a fantastic record for car seats. Also graco had a recall very recently so be careful of that.

Some graco strollers are clunky but I don't know about that one. Some are not and weigh like 2 pounds even with the car seat. If I were going to choose between a stroller and travel system I'd go travel system all the way.

I LOVE my chicco lite. I wish I had gotten the plus for the fold forward seat to attach the carseat. I have taken this stroller across the US and back. It's fantastic.

The sunshade can seem small but will unzip and adjust to where you need it. Also, I have clipped lightweight blankets to extend the shade to full cover. I keep carabiner on the stroller for this purpose, and to attach things like purses or carryons.

I got the Chicco Liteway Plus and love it! It's so great to have a small stroller that can have your infant seat clicked into it and then you can use it as a regular stroller when LO is bigger. I know Chicco items are more expensive than some others, but considering price per use and awesome functionality, it was a no-brainer for us!

Question for those that are doing the liteway type strollers. What do you do about not having a tray? A friend of mine had the Chicco Keyfit Travel System and said that the snack tray was a life saver. I am assuming this is just going to depend on your lifestyle, etc?

I like the concept of the liteway strollers, since they aren't bulky, but keep going back and forth about the importance of the tray.

If I recall correctly the recall was mostly on strollers that were made in 2007 or earlier so if you're buying a new stroller you shouldn't have to worry. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong

I have both a liteway and a cortina.. And about 7 other strollers (truth).. Anyway we use the liteway for travel. I just hand little one a snack cup or sippy cup. The cortina is so huge. I used it once for 20 minutes. It came with the car seat and I can't stand it. Way too big. It needs to go in CL. I've had Gracos over the years. I love their car seats but for strollers there are much higher quality ones for close to the same price. I really swear by city mini and city mini GT. ETA... Half my response didn't save!! Ugh I wouldn't use the liteway as my only stroller. I like the parent console and the snack tray on my city minis too much. The one handed fold is amazing as is the sunshade. ( my toddler naps in the stroller daily, so that's a huge plus for me) If money isn't an huge issues the best way to go is a snap and go stroller for when the baby is in the infant seat. So easy, light and nice! After that I swear by my city minis.

Thanks! The more I got to thinking about it, I just don't know if we would use the Cortina as much I think we would. My mom will be watching LO and I'm sure it will be WAY easier for her to use a snap and go VS a big bulky stroller (if and when she ventures out with her). I am thinking a lite stroller will be the way to go now. I haven't really looked at the City Mini and City Mini GT - but a lot of moms on here are talking about them, guess I will read up on them.

This is mine and DH's #1 argument... Strollers. We don't really argue about it but we go in circles as I try to explain to him no matter what brand we will be spending a decent amount. He really thinks he can find my some amazing ebay deal. Lol. Of course in a perfect world I would buy the bugaboo, but britax just came out with the affinity which is extremely similar and a few hundred dollars less. I think we will go this route, especially because last night DH said "you really don't need to worry about the stroller thing so much, you know we are going to get whatever you want". That lifted the stress quite a bit, but every time I get on the internet I too am overwhelmed. Good luck finding the perfect one!
  • Options
I was so overwhelmed with the options for a looooong time. We tried the Graco and Chicco travel systems and loved the infant bucket seat as well as convenience of all in one set. We ended up finding a great deal on the Britax BAgile stroller bundle with the BSafe infant seat and bought it because it was much lighter weight stroller. Plus the material snaps off to wash. You just need to try many to see what's best for you.
  • Options
I think I was just panicking last night about it. I do still need to go to the store and take test drives, so certainly no decision yet! I will take a good look at the City Mini.
  • Options
The great thing about the City Mini is that you can fold it with one hand. You pull up on a strap from the middle of the seat (basically where baby's butt would be), and the whole thing collapses in one motion. My friends in cities love the City Mini because it is so easy to collapse. This was my second choice stroller, but I've decided to go with the UppaBaby Cruz. I love the forward and fear facing seat options, and that the whole seat can come off and you can put on the infant car seat or bassinet. The 2014 model is on sale right now for $349, which is still pricy. It's going to be my one splurge, everything else will be secondhand.

I have a chicco liteway it is awesome for traveling and in shops. I also have Phil and teds classic which I used with the car seat and now I use for outdoors as it handles great in all terrain situations. Neither of mine have a tray and I have never missed it. I think stroller type really depends on what you are going to use it most for.

The sun shade on the liteway is good because it unzips and you can move it to where you most need it. Also has a decent sized basket!

Everyone who is considering the city mini/city mini GT - one thing I would add to consider is if you will have more children in the near-ish future.  We have the city mini GT and I love it but...  Now I wish we had gotten the City select so we could convert it to a double.

@jjboden any preference for the city mini vs the city mini GT? We registered for the GT yesterday and I'm debating if it is worth it for the higher price tag - the ride felt smoother but I'm not sure if there is anything else on the GT that I'm missing that makes it better than the regular mini?
  • Options
@bmblebea from what I remember when I did my research, the City mini GT has an adjustable handlebar and is built in a way that is more comfortable for taller people/people with a big stride.  My H and I are both tall so this was a big factor for why we did the GT vs. the classic city mini.  I *think *the GT also has bigger wheels and can handle more 'off roading' or tougher terrains.

I love my City Mini! I have the adaptor to attach my Chico keyfit30 infant seat in, and it's perfect. Btw, I consider myself pretty AP, so don't usually get excited about strollers. I wear my baby as much as possible. However, you need a stroller in real life, and the City Mini is amazing!
Does it still fold easily with the carseat adaptor?  I keep picturing having to remove the carseat, and the adaptor, before being able to fold...

@bmblebea‌ I think they are both great. The GT has the air tires and a little higher weight and height limits. ( there's no height limit per say but it's a inch or two bigger) I actually have a new GT in the box I got really cheap. I've been so happy with the mini I haven't taken the GT out. I'm going to sell it and pit money towards a double. Anyway., if you'll be walking in bumpy surfaces a lot then GT might be the way to go... And it'd someone wants to spring the extra $100 and get you one as a gift, I say go for it. The mini rolls super smoothe too. I've had mine 2 years with no issues. Maybe over time the GT tires might be worth the added cost? Not sure. I'm not much of a help! Basically.. I think you'll be happy with either! :)

City select is pricy and heavy and doesn't fold as small...keep this in mind.  We originally registered for the city select, and decided we'd just upgrade later if/when we had more kids.  I have a tiny car right now and we don't have the money to upgrade soon...So I need a stroller that will fold tiny like the city mini.

We also decided on the Chicco Bravo Trio travel system. It's super easy to collapse and the seat can actually come out so the stroller can be used as a frame for the car seat during the first months.

Whatever you decide. Make sure to test it out in the store. I had another stroller in mind and decided against it after testing it out.

Debating between the City Mini and the Uppababy Vista (leaning toward Vista, but I do love the fold on the Mini)  I am interested in the Vista because it can convert to a double, which is appealing since we plan to have another baby.  Anyone own a Vista or had to decide between the two?

As background, we live in the city and the stroller will get a lot of use, needs to be easy to fold in order to take it on the subway (though we'll likely get an umbrella stroller, too) make it over rough sidewalks, etc.

I bought a city select recently to use with the two little ones nice baby comes. It rolls great, I'm still partial to minis though. I think the Vista is lots like the Select. I've heard great things about it. I guess it comes down to how bulky of a stroller you want and if you'll have two close in age where you'll want to use the vista as a double. I'm going to sell my GT to get a mini double. Yes two double strollers is likely overkill. But they both have different functions. ( some I tell myself anyway) ;) slippery slope, I'll need a double BOB next!

We pulled the trigger on the Peg Perego Book pop up travel system stroller/bassinet combo with Primo Viaggio car seat yesterday! We also considered the Uppababy Vista but this one got our top pick.

We got the city mini gt and we LOVE it. We will get the stand on the back for our first born. I figure I will wear the baby until about 6 months which is when winter starts when we won't use it much then. The following summer our older kid will be 2 and a half and I'm hoping old enough to stand on the back to ride.
I live out in the sticks so we do a lot of driving then strolling or strolling on wooded paths. The city mini gt is great for both; good for tough terrain (not too tough though) and great to collapse with one and hand hoist into the trunk of the car.
A friend of mine wanted to buy used and has gone through 6 strollers with her two boys before finally buying a city mini gt and has regretted spending all that money on the junk she had before. Had she been able to do a do-over she would have just bought new and once and good quality from the get go.

I have the Bob for walks etc. I bought the infant seat adapter so it works like a travel system but WAY less bulky. I also have the Liteway for travel and just to keep in the car in case I need it. I love them both for their own reasons but wouldn't recommend the Liteway for all the time (your only stroller) as it's not as smooth, etc as a nicer stroller would be - especially if you like to go for walks. I agree with others though - try them out at the store. It will help you decide. BRU has quite a few but do does Buy Buy Baby. Good luck!

I don't miss the tray at all. I feel like it would just be another thing in the way or that could break. Besides that my LO loves to throw things, so nothing would stay on the tray anyhow!

Another City Mini lover here! I had a similar graco one you linked at it was nice. No complaints... I just use a stroller a lot so I upgraded when ds was around 1... City mini strollers are smooth, light and classy. Looking forward to using it for the new baby with a car seat adapter. But really, graco is a good and affordable brand... if that's what you like, go for it :)
What carseat do you use with the City Mini?  Can you basically use it like a travel system?

@ClareH1217‌ we live in the city too and - after extensive research and talking with people -- we're going with the Uppababy Vista (2015) and the city mini gt (the one hand fold is too great to pass up!). We're also going with the cybex Aton q car seat, which we were told adhere's to the higher European safety standards and is also (apparently) easy to get in and out of cabs.

This post kicked my research into high gear for sure! Our stroller will live in the car (Corolla) as I don't plan on lugging it up and down the 3 flights of stairs we have. I need it to be small and light weight. I looked at the city mini gt and then the britax bsafe. After watching multiple YouTube videos, it seems like the britax bsafe travel system is the way to go for DH and I. Same as city mini, only packaged as a travel system, same weight, and affordable.....since it's the only one we will have.

The Britax travel system is great! My little nephew had it. ( they still use stroller, he's out of car seat though) they've had no issues with it. We borrowed their stroller this summer and it rolled great! It's a lot like the City Mini :)

I wish I had just gotten a city mini and been done with it. It's the most versatile and lightweight workhorse for what it does. I wish I had listened to everyone who told me that! Everyone I know who got a city select is selling it once they tried to use it with their second kid. It's very long and heavy and not easy to break down. People also find their kids prefer the side by side double strollers. I wanted a stroller where my ds could face me so I splurged on a stroller, and ended up loving baby wearing. If you plan to use the carseat attachment, don't worry about the baby being able to face you, by the time you outgrow the infant seat, your babe can probably forward face leaned back a bit. For some reason this is the baby item people stress over the most and half the people hate what they choose. If I was able to do it all over, if I didnt go for the city mini and be happy, I would get a snap n go with the infant seat because its easy to deal with in the early days. This is all just my opinion, you have to do what works best for you and your family!

I'm so confused by all these stroller options! I've been researching and I think I've narrowed it down to the uppababy vista and the britax affinity. The Graco and Chicco seemed too big for me. My DH thinks its too much money for any stroller anyways so might as well get the one I like.
