Yellow is such a hard color to get right. We painted the playroom in our old house yellow and we bought 4 samples and still after getting one wall painted, I made DH go buy a different one. I know people say paint is such an easy thing to change but I hate painting big rooms (moving everything away from the wall, taking everything off the walls). I would rather do a light neutral in a main room and change up my accessories for color.
I ordered 3 Thomas the Trains on Zulily on October 7. They were supposed to ship October 27th. Last week I called to see what was up. The guy had no idea but gave me a $10 credit. I called again today, still nothing. At this rate I'll be lucky if we get them by Christmas. Of course they were supposed to go on his train table. I'm annoyed.
So my BFF is making me very sad and I'm getting uber defensive with her. I have been struggling majorly with depression and anxiety again, and it has gotten way worse with DH's stuff. My BFF basically yelled at me today because I haven't gone to see the doctor to ask for meds agian. I told her that I don't have time, because I pick up and drop off Luci everyday at daycare and I still trying to get all of my hours in each week. She was lecturing me about taking time for me and everything else, but seriously, I am so turned off and upset right now. I know that I need to go get meds or talk to someone but seriously, I don't have time, I am trying to do everything for a household of three. I don't know why she can't understand that. I'm way more upset about this than I should be.
I know it's so hard to not be upset - but it does sound like she's just giving you some tough love. She cares about you and just wants to make sure you're taking care of yourself.
Can you take an extra long lunch to get into see the doctor? I know it's so hard to find the time and balance everything.
Or just call your primary care physician? Esp if you've been treated for anxiety or depression before, and they could just call in a prescription for you? Sorry you're dealing with this, on top of everything else!

I also think that you can justify changing accessories more often than paint color. If I ever have the ability/ chance to do it all again, we will do neutral colors for walls and furniture and then do accent pillows and wall hangings etc for the color.
Our grocery store had no strawberries. I know it's the wrong season but I use them for smoothies.
I don't like colors on walls. Neutrals or greys. I don't think I could every bring myself to paint a main room a color. Maybe a kids bedroom.
G's been asleep for 4 hours. Poor kiddo

I buy the frozen whole strawberries. $3 for a bag all year around.
I have a cheapie individual smoothie maker and it has a limit of 3 ice cubes so I try not to use too much frozen. I feel like i never have enough options for different fruit in a smoothie

I have something similar, I only buy frozen fruit, but I put it in the cup and put the cup in the fridge the night before so the fruit defrosts over night, then I add the other ingredients in the morning. I also don't use ice at all, I just add a few extra pieces of frozen fruit.

Does it actually say you can only use 3 ice cubes?? how weird.
My oldest is here for Thanksgiving break. As of this afternoon, I am 97% sure he has pink eye. I have spent every minute since the discovery disinfecting the house and quarantining the two younger kids. MIL is taking them for the night, which is nice, and I'm off to find some crazy herbal eye drops as per recommended by DS1's step mom, who claims they are the cure for him. Normally I would be 100% fine with this, but with the holidays coming up, and us going out of state, I really kind of just want to get antibiotics for him--and back ups for Jasper and Briar, too-- in case they end up catching it, and the herbal stuff doesn't work. I really don't want to spend my thanksgiving in an ER with 1-3 pink eyed kids. I want to call the kids' pedi and see if they will call in something just in case, although I know this is totally crazy and not likely to happen.
no short week here, but have fun with your thanksgiving weekend everyone!
DH got in to see a gastro specialist on Friday, and finally has a diagnosis for his symptoms the past 6 weeks. I'm so glad he has answers, but I'm also worried about what it means for the future. Luckily the meds seem to be working for now, colitis is scary.
@tyrannosaurusjess if it is viral pinkeye, there isn't much that you can do besides some moisturizing eye drops. Our dr also has us do chamomile tea compresses. That being said, polysporine makes a mild pink eye antibiotic drop. You might want to try to pick up a bottle for each of the kinds, just in case.
The skirt deal was on my IG this morning and I almost tagged Dana. But then I thought if I tagged her in every piece of girl clothing for sale that I loved, she would unfriend me, or her husband would make her unfriend me

Dumb vent: for my Medical Terminology class we have to make our own word matching for homework. Last week the instructions said Include A, B, C Do NOT include X, Y, Z. Well somehow I included D, E, F. I got docked a ton of points. While I get that they weren't in the Include list, they weren't in the Do NOT Include list. Somehow that seems more important to me. I want to say something to the teacher, but I feel like I would be a pain in the ass.
I got the bouncy horses for the boys. I really want to get them for my nephews, but SIL has a giant stick up her ass about gifts. If it's not what she tells you to get, it gets donated.

Sort of going through this with my sister. Will received a double Melissa & Doug package of play food & pretend can opener for his bday. I saved the duplicates(no receipt-couldn't return) and didn't open it thinking I could give it to someone for a gift. I decided it would be my 2 y/o nephew's Xmas present along with else. I figured it would be a good idea since a) he has a play kitchen b) likes to play in his kitchen c) doesn't have this M&D food I mentioned it to my sister the other day as PART OF his gift. She sent me text today that said her friend is getting a play kitchen for her daughter and maybe I could sell the food to her. WTF? My sister is very Into making HER list and assigning people to each gift on the list. Last year we bought my nephew his bedding for his toddler bed. Nothing says Merry Christmas to a 1.5 y/o like sheets, amIright? Oh and not to mention we spent more on the bedding than we normally do bc it only came in a pack with the comforter, sheets and pillowcase. So, not that Im keeping track, but re-gifting unopened play food for a 2 y/o as half of his Christmas gift seems to even out when I spent $50 EXTRA on him than any of my other nephews last year. My thought process was hey, nephew would like this. Bonus because it's one less thing I have to get while I'm out shopping at 8 months pregnant.

Wow, I'd totally give it anyways. Especially since he has a play kitchen that he uses. Maybe he will get so excited over it right away she won't be able to take it away from him
I posted a picture on IG of Sean pretending to be me doing my homework. He says "Me be mommy!" while looking at my school books or playing on my calculator. It makes me so happy (and relieved) that that's how he thinks of me. Not playing on my phone or looking at the TV.
@PenelopePond I sort of don't know what to text back. First, I think it's rude to suggest selling it to someone else. If you open it and don't like it then give it to your friend's daughter.
Second, I think giving people a list of gift ideas is one thing once someone asks, "hey is there anything you think ____ would like?" But it's another thing when you start assigning people gifts to give you and your family. BUT it's a whole different level when you reject a gift bc it's not what you picked out for them to buy your child. (Also she is probably ticked that I didn't ask what was on her magic list.)
However, I shouldn't be surprised bc she and BIL are reeeaallllyyy cheap. They used to split a beer and a dinner entree when we would eat out before anyone had kids. And not just because one would DD.

My husband has UC. We (mainly DH) were terrified of some of the things the doctors told him about his future but now that he has been living with it for a handful of years and his yearly colonoscopies actually look better we just appreciate that his meds work great. Good luck! Hope the medicine continues to work for him.
@amandad715 I can't even imagine telling people exactly what to buy for us. I make suggestions if asked but that is it! How rude! <--- in my best Michelle Tanner voice
@amandad715 Wrap up the food and gift it. That is fucking insane, and next year you might as well start having fun with it. I see a fart noise machine in your nephew's near future.
I wouldn't tell her what you're getting anyone anymore. Smile and say, "it's a surprise!"
I can't imagine telling someone that if it's not on the list you're donating it. It's a gift which means someone put time and thought into it. It's so ridiculously rude. I like THT's idea. Fart machine for the win!
I went with a very light bluish gray. It does look more blue on the walls now than it did in the store, but I think I will love it once the couches are in and I actually put things on our walls. It already brightened the room so much! It was a pretty dark brown.
