@meowkitten That is an amazing story! I'm so happy you were able to get your miracle baby.
@JM0848 Which bar? I used to love Odwalla bars, but haven't had any in a long time!! And is this your parents first time out to see you guys in Germany? Also, green beans casserole is one of my favorite meals.at thanksgiving (Since I'm a Vegetarian, it was often a staple).
@rm2013 LOL! I've never even heard of a coca cola cake. Sorry it didn't turn out out that great. I love cakes made from boxes, lol! Particularly Betty Crocker.
@jennypm Glad you managed to survive the weekend with the in Laws. Will you be seeing your family for Thanksgiving? Hopefully that's a better experience!
@Aeml1985 So jealous of the prenatal massage! I need to see about getting one of those myself.
@LBeez13 Good luck on your scan! Why did they wait so long to do it? Will they still be able to see everything accurately?
@LionelBtchy It rained here for the first time since May, last night/this morning!!
@Skrittens Sorry they gave you grief for a normal weight gain. I don't know what is with doctors these days. Glad everything looks good with baby, though!
@katydid2014 yay to kicks! My little girl has just started going nuts with them the last two days. I would feel her move before, but lately it's been on and off all day, with some serious power! She even kicked the ultrasound today. Moving does suck. If the furniture doesn't fit into the new house, maybe you could rent a storage unit for it? Having everything packed up for you is the BEST! Especially with what a drain it is to move. Try not to get down about it. Hopefully the move will bring new adventure and fun, (maybe more money? ), too.
@JNCPro3130 My hubby just felt his first solid, can't be missed, kick a night or two ago, as well! He was so excited. Glad your DH loved it.
@Chunkymonkeylvr That is a HUGE little squish!! Did they know it was going to be that big, or did she deliver vaginally?
@etoille Lol at all the alcohol! Did you guys collect over time, or inherit a bunch from someone? Sounds like you'll have some fun after baby comes!
@luckystarz Yay to family home-coming! Do you have your kids for Thanksgiving?
@massiejs09 Sorry about your truck. Hope you get a holiday miracle and the claim goes through quickly! Did you see it happen or did the kid come seek you out after the fact?
@MrsPope1770 Good luck with car shopping! Let us know what you end up getting? Definitely good to replace if your car is reaching it's end!
@dreyes4 Chocolate cake for breakfast sounds amazing! I hope baby is doing well and that the cramping subsides.
@stepherly I'm sorry you got so upset. I hope everything goes through quickly for you!
@BitsyBelle84 I'm so sorry you had such a bad experience with the pictures. Sounds like your hubby stepped up and was pretty amazing!
@RQuinlin Your poor DD! I was like her when I was little, and I got strep a LOT. Now whenever someone around me has it I stay far far away because I'm so prone to catching it.
@meowkitten I'm so sorry for what you have been through, but I am so happy things are working out for you and your baby girl! *hugs* My pap at 8 weeks came back with abnormal cells. My OB did a colposcopy a few weeks later and luckily did not see anything too interesting (she said my cervix was boring lol) She will check again after baby is born, but it sure was scary for my H and I.
H felt the little boy kick for the first time last night. It was a special moment as we were laying on the couch watching The Walking Dead
@saltyfins You are a strong lady. I'd be stabby by now.
AFM- My husband is still recovering from his appendectomy, which means my Dad will be driving us up to Camano Is. in Washington tomorrow. We have a wedding for a friend of ours from DH's navy days. After that, it's back down to Portland on Wednesday for Thanksgiving times with our families. All of this means I am doing a metric butt-ton of laundry today. Weee.
@wishiwaspreggo I hope you have some amazing holidays! I won't be around much for a couple weeks after tomorrow, myself. Heading on a tour and not sure about the wifi situation (and lack of time for bumping).
@kadeelou I'm sorry you're feeling down. I hope that your hubby is supportive and helpful. I'm sure that he will want what is best for you. And if you are having fights, maybr he will see that it could be beneficial.
@RQuinlin I really hope the pedi can help out your daughter. That is pretty rough. Fingers crossed that you're already seeing him and not still in the waiting room!
@lawsonellis Hope you're being as lazy as possible on this last day of bed rest. And also hoping that it's the last bed rest you get to experience (until birth! )
@saltyfins I'm sorry that people are so tactless! That was totally not ok. (On either occasion). You just need a sign to wear around your neck that says 'Fuck Off'
@kcbizme Oh my goodness I want those mints!! Yum yum yum!!
@mwerren Have an amazing getaway! That sounds like a thanksgiving tradition in the making!
Another random: Sometimes I wish I were a doctor. DD has had a cough for a week or so and I'm always so paranoid that it could be something else. The symptoms are the same for every.damn.virus.
Typical cold? Coughing, fever, runny nose.
Ear infection? Coughing, fever, runny nose
UTI? Coughing, fever, runny nose.
And coughs typically last up to 3 weeks so how the hell do I know when I should be looking for something else? Sometimes I feel like the dumbest mom.
I feel the same way sometimes and I'm an RN. One time I ended up having to bring my son to his doctor for these random hives he was getting that I couldn't figure out a trigger for and after looking him over she said, oh those are just from stress, he has an ear infection.
@RQuinlin I just read your update. Glad your finally out of the dr but I'm so sorry about your daughter. Hopefully you mange to avoid catching it yourself! Lots of positive thoughts and vibes for quick healing.
@lisap0924 You totally just reminded me that I need to have my abnormal cells rechecked! I got a colposcopy, but now I'm at a new dr, etc. And I guess your son is saying that you need to go with zombie theme for the nursery ...
@Darbie914 I hope your DD starts feeling better soon. Coughs are miserable.
I had the craziest dream last night that my mom was pregnant with a boy and due in June. She is in her 60s and I was so mad at her for putting herself and the baby at such risk. And she kept asking me to buy her stuff that I don't even have for my baby. Then I woke myself up snoring. It was quite a disturbing dream.
Eta: typing on an iPhone with swollen fingers is hard!!!!
@Darbie914 I'm always paranoid about being that mom that constantly calls the doctor about her child, so I tend to wait and agonize over it unless I am sure there is something they can do for him or after he just does not get better for several days.
I've been MIA from the random all weekend because we finally had my mom's 60th that we have been planning and crafting for forever. It went super awesome. She was totally surprised and overwhelmed by all of the love. I'm glad it is over though!
@meowkitten thanks for sharing your incredible story.
I still have to catch up in here but wanted to poke my head in. E has been boycotting nap these days... and I'm seeing my high school best friend for the first time in almost ten years ..in just ten minutes. And since she fell asleep late, I can't even hide behind my cute kid until I get over my jitters.
I'm fucking nervous!!!!! I'll check in later, after the visit.
@meowkitten Thank you for sharing your story. I'm so happy for you!
@wishiwaspreggo What are you talking about, lady? Of course you'll be missed! Enjoy your week away!
I wish I could be excited for Turkey Day. But my GD diagnosis has taken the wind out of my sails. That and our families are going to be scattered all around two states this year, so we're just planning on staying home. At least I can watch the MST3K marathon.
Oh, and in better news, we finally registered at BRU (at the insistence of my mom; we already have a decent Amazon registry). I'd been telling D all about the wonders of expectant mother parking and knew that there were a handful at BRU. When we got there, they were all taken, so he parked in a regular spot. Just as we pulled in, I noticed there were some on the other side, of course. By that time it was too late, and moving would just a pain in the ass. But D pulled around anyway, so that I could say I used those spots at least once. Sometimes it's the little things.
@chilibeansm0m - I know how you feel. I have zero option to be a SAHM (although my H could be a SAHD). I had a SAHM who did the park, story hour, etc with me and it makes me sad I won't give my son the same experience.
I try to feel better about it by hopefully being a role model to him - someone with a good work ethic and to show him he can be whatever he wants when he grows up and knowing that he is so loved. And we will go to the park on the weekend.
We had DS's Christmas pictures taken Friday, also got a lot of Christmas shopping done (including finding a play kitchen at Marshall's that I wanted to get DS for Christmas for a lot cheaper than I was planning on spending), and I just ordered Christmas cards. Now I don't have very much shopping left to do. I am quite proud of myself seeing as how I am usually a HUGE procrastinator (like, not starting present shopping until the week of and not ordering cards until a couple of weeks ahead and then barely getting them in time to send them before Christmas).
@meowkitten I just wanted to let you know I am so happy you shared your story! One of my dearest friends had cervical cancer and abnormal cells twice and then the LEEP procedure. She went on to have two spectacularly routine and full term pregnancies with very healthy children. :-)
You guise. My sister is getting proposed to this weekend. Her and her bf are coming for Thanksgiving from DC and her BF called and asked my dad for permission to propose while they are visiting Charlotte. I am super duper freaking out and I am not quite sure why. Since the family got a heads up, I am preparing some surprise decorations and treats with champagne to have at my house for a little engagement party after he asks. I just really really really hope she says yes (LOL) and that she is okay with the fact that her family was kind of in on this whole thing.
@meowkitten Thank you for sharing your story. I'm so happy for you!

Sorry about the GD . But hello from a fellow MST3K fan!
Happy Thanksgiving week to the Americans in the bunch! Safe travels to everyone who is loading in cars and airplanes. And plenty of rest and relaxation to those of you staying home. Good luck to everyone working. I spent the first five years of my career working holidays, so I feel your pain.
We head out to Ohio tomorrow morning. It is going to be freezing and my coat doesn't button and I refuse to get another one because I'm stubborn. Thankfully I have stocked up on warm sweaters.
I need help from the mommas with pre-teen/teen girls out there (@jennypm @chaysefaith come to mind). I've "adopted" a 13-year-old foster kid for Christmas. She wants brown suede boots and skinny jeans. I know her size in juniors, but where is a good place to buy low to mid-level clothes for teens? All I can think is JC Penneys, but where else? We also have a Forever 21, Wet Seal and Charlotte Russe at our mall, but I've never even been in them. Also, tall boots or booties? What's popular right now for the young teen girls? I think I'm going to round out the gifts with nail polish and other cutesy stuff like that. There is a splurge at Ulta in my future!

Do you have a Kohl's near you? They have lots of stuff and at reasonable prices.

I feel there same way too. DS had high fever on the 8th we couldn't figure out why he wasn't acting like himself until we got home and took his temp on a hunch, it was 103.4 f. I don't know how we missed it. Since then he seemed like he was over it about 5 days after the fever he started coughing it was croup. He's much better now but still coughing, if it keeps up by Wednesday he will have had a cough for 2 weeks.
My family is making me feel like crap for not taking him to the doctor immediately but his fever came down as soon as he took Tylenol and they are the type to believe that without antibiotics you won't get better. my gut tells me virus and antibiotics won't do anything for that.
I had my glucose test today. They'll call me with results in the morning. I knew it would be sweet, but watching the sugar to water ratio she mixed didn't even make prepared for just how sweet it was. Plus 3 blood draws. But glad it's over and I'll know soon! (Fingers crossed for good results!!)
So I ordered several things from amazon (including a very pricey breast pump) to have delivered to my parents house. Turns out that my dad is going out of town as well, for over a week, right when all the packages are due to arrive. No way to cancel or redirect and the neighbors that they're friends with are heading out of town for the holidays. So stressed and frustrated about that. She's going to try to talk to the kids that do her yard work and see about paying them to come check for packages, which gives me some hope! (More finger crossing).
Finally, I leave in about 24 hours for Europe!! So excited!! But still no hotel booked for the end of our trip yet. I'm not packed yet. And I have a million things to do tomorrow. Travel is so awesome, but the last minute part sucks! *not a planner*
@RQuinlin im srry about ur daughter...both my oldest son and my youngest son had to have tubes in thier ears for ear infections..oldest twice. So now when they get sick im like nope check thier ears...i even when out and bought the thing to check thier ears my self for infection. To have an ear infection and strep at the same time, she has to be in a lot of pain. I hope she gets better soon.

Once you find out who the carrier is (FedEx ups whoever) call them and request hold for pickup. Hopefully your dad can get them when he gets back.
Ultimate AW: we got the car! I'm obsessed, and so happy to have something reliable and safe for LO! Also, milestone for me because I have never bought a car at a dealership/had financing! I feel like a real grown up now
@CoozieInMyPurse for the skinny jeans I would suggest looking at Aeropostale or their kids site if she's a small 13. I get a lot of my kids clothes at Kohls and non gym shoes from there.
Thank you @kcbizme and @chaysefaith! She's a 5/6 in juniors. I have no idea if that is small or not. We have a Kohl's, so I will definitely check that out. It would be awesome to find sales and be able to drown her in clothes. I love imaging their faces when they open the gifts.

A 5/6 would be doable at Aeropostale They're clothes aren't cheap regular price but they usually have really good sales.
So, meet up with old friend went super well. We fell back into things really easily and he was awesome with my daughter. He promised to stay in touch, we have tentative plans for the holidays, and he says he will be there to be an uncle from the start for this little one
I also don't know that I checked in with you all to let you know I was accepted at the practice I've been hoping to join. They have a 85-90% VBAC success rate. I'm so fucking stoked. Just talking to the midwife...I knew it was a dream come true. I can't wait for my first appointment with them, but I have my GD test with my current practice first.
@rquinlin I hope your daughter feels better in time for turkey day.
