  • @meowkitten‌ awe that's such a good story. Congratulations and so glad for your recovery.

    I feel really dumb asking this, but what is v-day?

    Also, went to a friendsgiving last night and had so much fun hanging out with friends I haven't seen in so long. The majority of them have new babies less than a year old, and I was the only pregnant one. It was great to hear their birth stories and their advice. It all makes me nervous because I will be sitting where they are at this time next year with a baby and feeding and it gets a little overwhelming to think about. Sometimes I wonder if I can do this?

  • @meowkitten‌ / that is so wonderful! Thanks for having the courage to share your story with us.
    I'm so happy for you that everything is going well!

    @Chuggles1013‌ / have a great trip!

    AFM / I've been missing the random for a while, work's been keeping me busy and I always want to read the whole thread b4 replying and i never get through :(

    I can't believe it's Thanksgiving week!

    My random musing - for some reason last night I got it in my crazy head to make all from scratch a Coca Cola cake and frosting. After a lot of time and an ungodly amount of butter and sugar, I sampled the finished product and was just like meh. Didn't taste much better than a box or store bought cake really. And I sure didn't taste the coke. Don't think I'll ever do that again.

  • @meowkitten‌ what a wonderful story, I'm so glad everything is going well for you and LO

    AFM, it's supposed to snow Thursday, after spending so much time convincing everyone we need to include grandma in thanksgiving now it's going to snow?! Plus SO plows in the winter so he'll miss it :( boo.

    On a side note I had to get up in the middle of the night to pee for the first time since early early pregnancy. Guess that means were getting closer to the 3rd tri!
  • I don't have the week off because of thanksgiving, I'm in canada. This is one of the few perks of shift work.

  • My random is that a US Postal Service truck (like the residential delivery kind) Barry Bonds the passenger side mirror off our truck on Friday when it was parked. The postal employee was just a kid and apparently, new. I actually felt bad for him because he looked so distraught, and when his supervisor showed up we told her that we hoped he didn't lose his job.

    Anyway, its now a waiting game to see how fast the USPS insurance company will get back to us to talk about repairs. Since its the holiday week and they are a government entity I'm going to assume NOT VERY.

    Our insurance said that we could file our own claim but I don't know if that means we'll have to come out of pocket on anything. Ugh.

  • Morning all! TB keeps logging me out - I'm on mobile today, so maybe that's it, but it's annoying.

    @katydid - sorry about the housing situation. I really hope you get a good amount of space. Sounds stressful.

    Congrats to all hitting v-day today! I've got one more week to go...

    We had a really productive weekend - I am feeling ready for t-day. Dh and I got some good rest and had some good talks about dealing with his parents. I feel much better about hosting and less like running away from home.

    @coleybug13, my DH plows snow, too. But he's also the cook :). Luckily, our major snow is today, not Thursday.

    As Richard Scarry says, "go, everyone , go!"

    Congrats to all the ladies who have reached v-day today!

    We tried to go get family pictures taken yesterday and my son had a meltdown. It is unlikely he will act any different if we try to reschedule, so I have given up on a picture this year I think. I cried the whole way home (not just from the lack of pictures, but that was the tipping point). My husband was so sweet the rest of the day trying to make sure I was okay and make me feel better.

    @katydid2014‌ Have you seen the Balfour Beaty website for base housing at Altus? It has quite a bit of information about the housing options and contact information if you have questions. I am really anxious about our move and housing situation this summer too. I hope you are able to get a decent sized house. We are currently trying to figure out what if anything we need to put into storage to avoid having a home or apt full of boxes that we can't unpack.

    Good morning all!

    @meowkitten Hugs.  Thank you so much for sharing that story.  You are a strong woman and I'm so happy that you're getting your miracle baby.

    AFM, I went to work sans jacket because it's going to be in the 70s today.  This weather is so freaking weird.  Yesterday we went to storage, sorted through DD's baby clothes, did a few loads of laundry, and now it's just time to organize it in the drawers.  We'll still need summer outfits, as DD was a fall baby, but there are a ton of things this little girl will be able to use.  Just seeing the clothes again made me a little emotional.

    For those of you that do Black Friday shopping or Cyber Monday shopping, do you use a particular strategy?  I can't keep up with all of the ads for various stores so all I have right now is a bunch of things I want to get that are on my Amazon wishlist.  This way I can see if the price goes down but I'm not sure if there is a better way to do this?

    Good luck to all who have appointments!
    Where are you from? Sorry if you already said I didn't go through that long thread. I'm in Philly and enjoying the 70s too;) it's so nice my h and I are actually on a bus to the va today instead of driving.

  • Not that I feel my presence will be deeply missed but I wanted to say that I'm going to be away from a computer for the next week since I'll be going out of town for Thanksgiving week.  There will be much visiting, driving, and eating over the next few days.  We'll also be going to Babies R Us to do the scanner-shopping thing, selecting a glider (C's mom is generously buying one for us), and going to Ikea to pick out furniture.  There will be much belly-rubbing to piss off my uncle on Thanksgiving day, and even more belly-rubbing to piss off my aunt the next day as punishment for holding a bridal shower against my cousin's fiancé's wishes and for interrupting Black Friday.

    Seeing as I'm an introvert I spent this past weekend alone to recharge my batteries which was nice.  I'm ready to socially engage now.  I just hope the battery-charge lasts until Friday.

    I got a prenatal massage on Saturday which was awesome but I will not be getting one again because I fucking fell asleep halfway through it.  I can't even stay awake through a massage.  There is no reason to pay money to sleep when I can easily nap at home.  It is impossible to stay awake in those conditions, though.  Soft lighting, gentle music, a warm, heated bed, pillows all around you... Usually I can resist the lulling feeling but not while pregnant.  I can wait until I'm free of hormones before my next massage.

    Anyway, adios, ladies!  Happy Thanksgiving!!

    I shall miss you my love;)

    Good morning ladies!

    @meowkitten Thank you for sharing your story! And Fx that everything continues to look great!

    @sathena @megaugust10 @luvsponies Yay for making it to V-Day!

    @Chunkymonkeylvr Holy cow that's a big baby!  @-)

    SD's Thanksgiving shirt came in over the weekend and I am so excited to put an outfit together for her and make the bow to match!

    I am working all week - M-W at my full-time job, then 4pm-4am Thanksgiving/Black Friday at my part-time job (so I get to beat all the major rush on Friday). Then our Thanksgiving is on Saturday!

    My 1-hr GTT is tomorrow and I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to eat tomorrow before it so I'm not already full of sugar.. usually I have a pop-tart and some apple juice for breakfast. Any suggestions?

    Edit: words are hard.

    So a patient (little old lady) pissed me off today. She looked at me and said "you're too young! What are you doing pregnant?"

    I said "I don't think almost 30 is too young" thinking she thought that I was younger because most people do. But no, she then said "almost 30 is still just a baby."

    In my head I was telling her to fuck off and mind her own business but I just said "well I don't think it's too young but thanks for your input."

    I don't usually get mad at the old people I work with but that put me in a shitty mood.

    That would annoy me too, but considering her generation married and kids right out of high school, it makes me think she wasn't thinking clearly.

    I know how you feel! We plan to move home across the country soon after the baby is born. And my SO will be looking for another job while he takes his paternity leave. It's scary cuz there's so much unknown. I think starting packing/going through stuff early will help (while I still can).
