Especially moms of 2+...what car do you drive? I'm hoping to not get a minivan...I like my SUV. What do you drive? What do you like/not like about it?

I currently drive a Honda civic coupe, worked great for my 5 year old and I.. not so much in about 7 months. I'm looking into getting another explorer. I loved it with DD when she was little.

    Edited for spelling.
  • Suburban - love it!!! Kellan will move to the 3rd row when LO comes. LO will be on the second row behind the passenger.

  • KIA sorrento. Tons of room, and awesome gas mileage and not expensive to purchase for a cross over SUV.
  • My poor Infiniti coupe is going to have to go...not ready to part with it yet..
  • Toyota Highlander! Optional third row but mostly a place to throw strollers, shopping bags and... More shopping bags.

  • I'm not much help - I drive a Chrysler Town & Country. I always said I would never drive a mini van. Seriously makes me wonder how I planned to fit all of my at-the-time hypothetical kids into a vehicle. This'll make 4 so I really have no choice.

It's roomy, though. Which is nicer than when I had the SUV because my older kids aren't sitting close enough together to fight.

  • I drive a Mustang. Love it but I know it is not practical for a baby. Goal is to sell it before July
  • Audi Q7 nice and spacious and no I don't live in a snowy area right now.
  • I drive my DH bsc! ;) I also drive a Toyota RAV4. I'm not crazy about the looks, but it drives really nicely.

  • I currently have a Kia Rondo. It's fine but now that we're having a 3rd we are trading up (?) to a mini van. I was dead set against one until I drove my step mom's and it was so amazing. So easy to get the kids in and out, so much room to lug around crap, automatic doors! I don't care, I will drive a minivan and live in the burbs and eat at the stupid Olive Garden and love every minute of it.

  • I've got a Nissan Rogue. But I'm a FTM so we're not too concerned about space right now. It's roomy enough for us and certainly much roomier than my last car (2004 Nissan Sentra).

  • We will have 3-across in our Honda CRVs. (My daughter is in an Incognito booster, my son in a Diono R100.) I drive a 2005 and DH drives a 1997. DH's has 260K miles on it. :-O

We are looking into a Honda Pilot or a Ford Flex (we've never owned an American car, though) or MAYBE an Odyssey although I think we'd prefer a 3rd row SUV for our next vehicle... but we prefer to run our cars into the ground before buying another one. Mine won't be dying out anytime soon, and his is still ticking but who knows with that high mileage.

  • Cadillac SRX, my dream car was the CTS so we went with the crossover to get the same feeling with more room for a family.
  • I have a ford escape and DH has a ford fusion.  We probably will try to keep these vehicles for quite awhile yet (mine only has 25000 miles on it, and DH's is paid off so we only have one car payment).  DD is still rear facing behind the passenger seat, but we'll probably turn her around next summer at 2.5 years old and then put the infant seat behind the passenger side.  I was surprised how much room the infant seat took up relative to front seat position with DD1...
  • @LadyAnnibal I loved my fit!!!! With DS it was perfect, I had mine for 7 years and was sad when we traded it in. With that ,I am sure glad we decided to go for the pilot. Finding out we were having twins and would need to accommodate 2 infant car seats and a convertible car seat was a little less stressful. We live in a snowy area so I wanted 4WD or AWD this go round.
  • BMW 528i-- backseat is extremely spacious and gets incredible gas mileage.
  • I have a Toyota Sienna and I LOVE it. My only gripe is that I didn't get the limited edition with AWD since I live in the Northeast.

  • 2014 Dodge Durango. I love it and I think it's one of the most spacious inside dimensions for the price.

  • I have about a year and a half left on my accord lease. I love it but I don't think it will work for me for more than one LO as we have a huge dog that we bring everywhere! I want to get something with 3rd row seating.

  • I have a Lincoln MKX and my husband has a 4 door Dodge Ram. I think both will work out just fine (this is our first) and we have at least a year left on or leases anyway before we have to decide what is next. In Michigan the weather is un predictable so both vehicles work out wonderfully any time of the year! :-)

I love the Durango, that may be my next car..
  • A '97 Toyota Corolla. I'm upgrading to a Honda Fit closer to my due date!
A friend had a fit and I was always AMAZED what she could put in that thing.

My DH is SUPER tall and just got  new a VW passat TDI.  I have a Mazda CX-7 which I am SO sad they don't make anymore.  It's my absolute favorite thing I've ever purchased and almost paid off at this point!  It'll definitely be roomy enough for a LO, our dog, and baby stuff.

Our friend with three LOs has a Chevy Traverse and loves it - all the adults in her family are SUPER tall and they find it very comfortable.

DH and I went to an Auto Show and found it very helpful for identifying things we might need/want in the future.  It was great for me because I could go sit in one car and then immediately go sit in another to compare.  There are also a decent number of cars to test drive if you'd like.  (The Washington DC Auto Show is in January if you're interested!)

  • We have a Mazda 3, a GMC Sierra, and a jeep TJ. The Sierra is new so we're absolutely keeping it and the Mazda will be paid off right before LO gets here so we're keeping it for a year because we want minimal payments while I'm off on leave. Jeep isn't practical at all, but we love it so it stays, it can actually fit two car seats so its perfect!

We live in a very snowy place, all vehicles do fine with winter tires on, Sierra and Jeep have 4x4.

DS is going to be FF by then so he will sit behind the driver, infant seat behind the passenger. The biggest trouble we will have is finding space for the pups when we travel. I'm looking into an SUV when we're ready to upgrade, we'll need the space to fit both dogs.

  • I have a Mercury Mariner and will be keeping it. I already have one DD so putting in another carseat is no big deal. I just won't be able to take my niece with me anywhere.
Now DP drives a Dodge Durango with only a very small backseat. He will either be getting a new car or just having to drive mine when he has the kids.
I use to be I will never own a mini van and be a mad mom in a mini van but came to realize that is would be a lot easier and more room. Also if we plan on having more kids. But I live in Northern Ohio and from the moms who I have talked to they hate driving it in the snow.

  • Toyota Rav4 xle 2014, so it has the backup camera, leather seats and Bluetooth. My 2010 didn't so I'm glad I traded it in (even though I only had 1 more year of payments.
