I woke up to a rock hard right boob. Been trying to start feeding one boob at a time and my right boobs just isn't getting with the program. Anyways fed LO and pumped my left (since or doesn't get a chance to feed) now awake. @beezbeez enjoy that alone time with your husband it's rare these newborn days.
Babywearing meeting this morning. To go or not to go. I've been out with the boys every day this week. But I would like the chance to try out some carriers (that I'll never buy because they're too expensive). It's at the library so we could get DS1 some books, but I've heard stories of the mean toddlers at this meeting. Decisions decisions...
After my 6 week pp check up yesterday we went to the Cheescake Factory for dinner. I nursed the entire time we were there leading up to dessert. So for dessert I had a chocolate espresso martini! It takes an hour to drive home from there not to mention getting two kiddos in their car seats & loaded up! I felt like a grown up!

Play date is sick and cancelled this morning... Which means I have to entertain both kids alone all day. Am I crazy for thinking I can do a trip to the mall alone? It's so cold out so the park or walks outside are out.
I haven't made it to the board by 9AM in forever! DD is quietly relaxing in her swing after two massive poops while mommy has some coffee I miss her 4-5 hour stretches of sleep. She now only sleeps 3 hour stretches. Momma is tired little girl! I am contemplating taking her out to run errands all afternoon. We have literally been in the house all damn week.
Yesterday was DS1 birthday, to celebrate DS2 split his head open at school. LO and I had to rush to the school, pick him up and rush to the doctors office. We completed the office visit with maximum amount of tears and getting the cut glued shut. I guess it's better than stitches but not a good day! Oh did I mention family pictures this weekend? I already texted the photographer to make sure she can edit out the giant lump and gash on DS2 forehead. Ugh
Question for all you notches whose babies sleep through the night or for long stretches. If you are breastfeeding, do you wake up to pump? Or just deal with engorgement? My LO slept for 2 four hour chunks last night, and since I alternate boobs b/c of oversupply/forceful letdown, my left boob was crazy engorged and my shirt was soaked at 7 am. And that was despite hand expressing some at 3 am.
We are trying a new routine today. Baby wakes up to feed around 6-7, and usually we go back to sleep b/c DH leaves for school/clinic. Today, I put DS back to sleep in his crib instead of RNP and took a shower/got dressed instead of trying to sleep through his weird morning grunts. Seems to be great for me so far. Baby is still sleeping and I have laundry in and am showered and OMG I put on mascara! #feelingnormal
We went shopping for Christmas decorations yesterday and I managed to BF while babywearing! This is huge for me cause I have big saggy boobs and nips that face south so it wasn't easy. Plus with all the latch issues, I never thought I would be able to do it. It was liberating!
Also, the 6 week growth spurt has been rough. LO pretty much wants to be on the boob from 6PM - midnight every evening. It is exhausting.
First success with the Ergo last night! I made dinner while he stared at the ceiling and fell asleep. So happy.
Has anyone taken LO to the movies yet? How did it go?
The movies!? I wouldn't take my kid until they were at least a few years old. I get ragey when people bring babies to the theater. Especially when they dont leave the room when theyre crying. We had that happen to us a while ago.

For me, I do it if it wakes me up. We moved the RnP to her room instead of sleeping in ours for the first time last night. She slept from 11:30 until I woke her up at 8 this morning. I know she was up a couple of times because I was glued to the monitor for about an hour making sure she wasn't dead.
If I wake myself up, I pump. I pump at this time because this is usually when I have the best supply. If I don't wake up I sleep through it and pay for it later. Sleep is totally worth the engorgement I think.
Has anyone else's LO slept a ridiculously long time? Should I be concerned that she is now sleeping again 2 hours later?!
Also, does anyone have a Motorola video monitor that cuts out on sound for 30 second chunks? I hate it!
Awake but getting baby snuggles. I sometimes can't get over how much I love this kid.
Random: do disposable breast pads make anyone else's boobs itch like crazy? I can't handle it. I probably should just get it together and buy some washable ones...
Yes! I bought the washable Medela ones and they are much better.

YES! It drives me crazy! I use lansinoh. I think the medela ones were better but I spent the money on these so I'm using them.
The last few days we've been supplementing DS more (expressed milk and formula), and he's been pooping less (normal is 4-6 per day, we're lucky if we're getting 1 every 24 hrs). Weird, right? Shouldn't increased input = increased (or at least the same) output?
Edit -- shoukdn't my smart phone be smart enough to realize I had a baby and did in fact mean to type pooping not popping?
My doctor said around 3 or 4 weeks it can change to once a day or even up to once a week. Don't know of that is just formula babies though.

Has anyone taken LO to the movies yet? How did it go?
Eh. I took DS1 to the Lorax when he was two weeks old. He slept the whole time. It was fine. He did fine in theaters until he learned to walk, then I had to keep taking him out of the room. We haven't taken DS2 yet because we have no money for that right now, and DS1 isn't likely to behave.
@keelyd I always soak through the washables and we don't have a washer dryer so I'd have to take them to laundromat all the time anyway. The avent disposables made me itchy and just felt uncomfortable--also soaked through those often. The medela disposables are the tits! I had itchy boob last week...I thought it might have been growth though?

Nope -- we can barely make it grocery shopping, but I did go with a friend and her then 7 mo old a few years ago and realized babied need accessories at the movies: namely, noise canceling headphones. Movie theaters are definitely too loud for their little ears.
I went out with the boys by myself for the first time. Disaster. :-q
I'm about to go out with the 2 littles without my 12 year old.... I think I'm a glutton for punishment.
If I'd had a 12 year old with me, I think I'd have been begging them to save me...
My oldest is a HUGE help to me, she wrangles the toddler if we go somewhere without dad.
My 10 year old is the opposite. She gets my toddler wild and neither one will listen. I went to ikea last weekend with all three and I survived. I'm still shocked nothing horrible happened.
@crawford411 my pedi said her sleeping well at night is the "perk" of colic. I try to remind myself of that when she is screaming all evening long.
Other than that, I don't know what we did to deserve such a good sleeper. DH is the most rock hard sleeper I have ever met, maybe it's in the genes? Plus LO is 100% a swaddle baby. We only swaddle her when it is time to go to sleep.
Okay... What are you breastfeeding notches doing to get your kid to sleep more than 3 hours at a time? How did I draw the short straw on this?
When my LO started to sleep 11/12 - 5/6 she cluster fed in the evening before she passed out for the longer chunk. She still eats more frequently at night, which the pediatrician said was to help her sleep longer. So maybe try to offer more frequently in the evening?
Thought we could make it to the grocery store and home w/I feeding. Hahaha made it to the parking lot!!! Nursing in the front seat of my car at Shaws. Sigh.

DD will be 11 in January. She is a bit of both; it just depends on the time of day and the environment. At home or in a 'boring' store, she gets DS crazy. If we are somewhere she likes- the mall, for example- then she gets him to behave and holds his hand. It think its because she is afraid we will leave early if he acts out.

Rough evening followed by 3.5 hour stretches of sleep for DD.
I swear the evening cluster feeding and fussiness is going to be the death of me. Particularly since I nearly collapsed from exhaustion while holding DD. Tears all around. DD wants to feed all night, therefore DH can't soothe her and gets frustrated that he only sees her when she's pissed off because of work. Then gets upset because he sees me having a rough time and my health depleting.
Someone reassure me that breast feeding is worth it! I had to stop DH from trying to offer her a bottle even though I didn't have a good output going. Am I doing the right thing?
I could have written this word for word about my night. I keep telling myself that this won't last. I just keep getting through one day at a time. Although I have a cold now and am going to try my damnedest to get enough pumped today for DH to feed tonight

I noticed that increased formula= decreased poops. LO poops one good one in the morning and then usually doesn't poop for the rest of the day.

@crawford411 I am in the same boat as you. Longest stretch was 3.5 hours.
Also, my cousin brought here two month old to the movie back in March and the baby slept the entire time.
