Trying to Get Pregnant

2 days late!

Hi All,

This is my second message!
It's our first time we are TTC. We are on month 3! My first day of last period was 23rd October. I have very regular cycles - 28 days but last month was 26 days. I am two days late but test says negative... I live in Kenya and have two tests left! One is a simple HCG strip test and another is a clear blue... Please advise me on what I should take and when! I am super new to this and I'm freaking out a little...

Thank you! KS

  • Yes really! I'm getting a little pain here and there and I have no family and friends here at all... We are missionaries. We are far from civilisation and my brain is telling me to take another test all the time but I know I should wait...

Did you read the Newbie Blog at the top of our forum?  This is a great resource for TTC information.  Another great resource is FertilityFriend; you can learn how to chart your basal body temperature, cervical fluid/mucus, and pretty much anything else!

At this point, you should assume that you ovulated later than you are used to (or not at all!) and are not actually late.  If you are able to procure more home pregnancy tests, feel free to continue testing once a week until you get a positive pregnancy test, your period, or hit 60 days since the first day of your last menses.  Once you reach 60 days after the beginning of your last period, see a doctor to restart your cycle because you are likely stuck in the pre-ovulation phase, called the follicular phase.
Please note that due to the actions of TheBump and their parent company, XO Corporation, I no longer feel safe or comfortable posting regularly on this forum for my pregnancy journey.

If you would like to seek a community of women that can help you at any stage of your journey, please consider joining us at [OUR NEW HOME].

  • I just have to say the amount of snark on this board towards people sincerely looking for some feedback is a little off putting to say the least. It's not unheard of to test negative and have it not be accurate. I agree with the other ladies who said to wait a few days or a week before testing again.

I'm not saying that it's unheard of to test negative and be KU. But had she read the blog - she would not have asked this question.

  • Yup. I was expecting that. No input respected I suppose if you haven't been posting every day for months. I come here when I need to, looking for feedback, when I have time. I don't really care what my avatar looks like.

I've been using this app for about two weeks and I haven't got a clue how to use it! I'm literally living in the third world and I'm the only one here with an iPhone, although I don't know how to use it very well. I really am trying. I work in a slum and a children's orphanage and the little time I have to socialise I've been spending in here trying to learn haha!
  • Yikes. The first immediate response was "Really?" As if she was stupid for asking. Yes, after that, many nice responses. I've just seen it in many other posts as well. That's all I'm saying.

@hobbesgal‌ come here to use you? Message boards are used for support, guidance and feedback, right? If you don't want to respond to any questions I might pose that's fine. Cut me off as you put it, for whatever reason.

@Cythe‌ I do consider myself a part of it. I'm just fairly new to it and don't check it daily.

  • I use clue and I use P.D. I will download the other one you're all using too then. Maybe it will help me more :)
  • Got it.

  • I totally get how annoying it is to see questions that have been asked a million times or are clearly addressed in the newbie blog. Just seems in those cases, if you are annoyed by it, just don't respond.

  • You know what... Some of you are just plain rude and it's upsetting to think there are such people around. I'm so sorry nice offended some of you by asking for advice! I don't know why I even bothered... DELETING THE APP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would rather struggle alone than keep reading remarks from inconsiderate women whose hormones and emotions are going absolutely bonkers! I haven't been able to go on here much yet because unlike some of you I'm actually quite busy! A two year old girl was abandoned at a petrol station in our rural area this week and I have been looking after her and trying to do enquiries into why she was left there and by who... A little more important than coming on here!

It's quite a deterrent actually. Google "the bump rude" and you'll see plenty of people who get scared off based on the flaming. True story, bro.

Not at all, I don't do what I do for yays! I'm very thankful for the advise I got however I'm a little freaked out by the way people are talking to the other lay, who was actually being a little understanding to my need. I've been away from civilisation for nearly 9 months and I just don't like the way some girls can be a little bitchy. I didn't want my comment and question to cause her to get ridiculed.
  • Okay my bad... I suppose I'm the most hormonal out of all of us then hey!
  • It's just right now I feel like no one at all understand how I am feeling and I haven't got a clue what my body is doing, my husband is snoring next to me and I'm literally exhausted... All I wanted was a little encouragement and I have to actually had convos with people that speak my language for quite some time and anyways... Sorry! I better sleep... Forgiven?!

  • I've got one already yep! :)
  • Even when I'm agreeing or saying ok I got your perspective, it's met with a rude response.
