Such a vicious cycle....

I posted about a month ago about MIL finally leaving abusive/general piece of crap FIL. She's been here for a month and just emailed us that she's bought a plane ticket to go back.

I'm trying to be really patient and supportive, even though I think her decision is total madness.

Anyone have advice or suggestions on how to help her? Is it enough just to make sure she knows she can always come back if it gets bad again?

    No way. Their culture is totally anti-anything to do with or acknowledge mental health issues.

    I feel so badly for DH and his sisters. He's furious with her for leaving.

    Oh no, I was rooting for her!!!  Still, it must be super scary to leave someone after being with them so long, and in your older years.  I hope someday she works up the courage and self-love to leave him for good.
