I came to the hospital at 5pm for my scheduled induction (38 weeks, mainly due to hypertension). I was given cervidil at 7pm to start ripening my cervix and was told to get some good rest because tomorrow will be a long day. Well needless to say it's after 3am and DH is snoring away while I'm wide awake because these contractions are kicking my ass!
I feel that I usually have a pretty high pain tolerance, so I'm feeling kind of disappointed in myself that I'm having such a hard time dealing with labor pains already. I planned on trying to go without an epidural, but it's only the beginning and I've already been given morphin to help. I'm starting to panic about tomorrow when they start me on pitocin and really get things going... How am I going to do this?!
On a good note, Baby Z has been doing amazing. Everyone keeps telling me that we have a very happy baby! I'm praying that we get to meet her tomorrow. I'm also excited because I'll finally be able to get this darn drain out of my side! If you don't remember, I had to have my gallbladder removed at 25 weeks. I had to keep the biliary drain in until delivery because they need to do an xray first and didn't want to expose LO to more radiation. Needless to say, this has been a pretty eventful first pregnancy and I'm so glad we're almost to the finish line!
*UPDATE*
Thanks everyone for the T&Ps and . supportive words! We're 24 hours in and I'm finally dilated 2cm. Thank goodness, I was starting to lose hope! They're about to move me back to L&D (I've been in OB special care) where they will most likely get me started on pitocin and start talking about when to break my water. Maybe this baby will still come today!
*UPDATE #2*
I ended up getting the epidural and I've been loving life ever since :-p It's been nice to finally get some sleep. Thankfully when I sat up to get the epidural, my water decided to break on its own! They checked me an hour ago and I was dilated to 4, just checked again and now I'm at 8. Woohoo! It's almost baby time!
*UPDATE #3*
Baby Zuli is here! She arrived at 5:32am after only 25 minutes of pushing and 1 very small tear. I'm so unbelievably thankful for the smooth, problem-free delivery. We did skin to skin immediately and she latched onto my breast right away

She's being difficult about it now but she's just as pooped as I am! Thank you all again, I can't wait for everyone else to have their babies!
Re: At the hospital for induction and already starting to panic. **UPDATE #3, SHE'S HERE!***
Thank you ladies, I'm starting to not feel so down on myself. I can do this!

Don't feel bad about wanting pain meds! Labor hurts darnnit! You could try walking about and such (if you haven't had an epidural) that can help.
When I went in for induction with my DS the cervidil started things going for me too. I didn't actually end up needing the pitocin.... so you may not need it.
T&P to you today!!
Deep breathing and making deep low sounds (I was seriously mooing like a cow), seemed to help me a lot.
FX that things move quickly today!

Trying to go pain free is good, but keep in mind you've been induced and have been given all sorts of medications to accelerate things, what you're experience might not be "normal" pain and there is no harm or shame in getting some assistance!
Birth ball- only one data point, but one of my friends said it was the only thing that helped her. Try all sorts of positions until you are (relatively) comfy!
Our #2 is on the way!
Don't stress about needing to take meds for the pain, it's what it's there for. I'm a big baby and I know for a fact I want as little pain as possible so I can focus more on the birth and not be panicking (cause I will panic!).
Hugs!
