Who has used pumping to induce labor?

I have been tryin it for the last 15 mins, and it totally sucks!  I think I am over it!  Dumb question, but am I wasting my colostrum?

Re: Who has used pumping to induce labor?

  • Oh my goodness, you are still here? Poor girl!

No, I didn't try pumping. I drank 3 cups of that Red Raspberry leaf tea, and went into labor that night.  Some say it's a myth, but it seemed to work for me! I bought it at Whole Foods if you are the try anything point :)

    Good luck!

  • Didn't work for me.  I don't think you're wasting colostrum...you'll have it when you need it.
  • Are they talking induction for you yet?

I tried everything...spicy foods, raspberry tea, pumping, sex, exercising, etc.  Nothing worked for me.  Still at 41 weeks, I was 0 cm dilated and 0% effaced!  Both times!  Was your DD late?  I'm soooo crossing my fingers that something happens soon for you!  You must be incredibly anxious!

  • Hey there,

You were my secret santa right!  I have been hoping to catch you on here! Thank you so much for the gift!  We can't wait to play it!

I hope something happens SOON for you...I know you have to be as miserable as I am, if not worse!  Lots of labor dust to you!

  • You can freeze any colostrum you pump and give it to your DC later! ?I hope you go into labor soon!

  • I can't remember exact numbers, but you should not pump more than a few minutes every 30 minutes. It doesn't necessarily work right away, but it is probably working, just slowly. If you do it non-stop, you could cause very hard contractions that can harm the baby.
  • I have a dr. appt tomorrow where she will strip my membranes.  We talked induction last time but she still wanted to wait.  I had an easy delivery last time and she doesn't want me to have to end up in a c-section.  I was 2 cm, 70% effaced 2 weeks ago so hopefully there is more progress by tomorrow.  DH starts his long stretch of work on Wed. so I am hoping I can convice her to induce me early that day so I don't have to worry about going into labor while he is gone.

I hope and pray that you go into labor tonight/tomorrow.  I have thought about you all day today!  I was hoping to come home tonight and see a post that you went into labor/had baby.

But, since you are still pg maybe tomorrow.  Eventually tomorrows will run out and you will have that baby.  He cant stay in there forever.  Luckily you are progressing some.  Good Luck tomorrow having your membranes stripped.  I hope it does the trick.  Lots of Labor Dust/Vibes/Thoughts to you.

  • No advice on the pumping - I just wanted to say hi, & 'come on out little guy!'
  • I had DD at 39 weeks.  So she wasn't as early as expected (4 months of bed rest) but at least she didn't hold out this long!
