So I work in a professional office as a project manager. For our annual holiday/Christmas party this year, they decided to get suite tickets and cater dinner at a pro basketball game. I hate sports and so firstly I think this is a terrible idea for a holiday party! Also DH is gone so he can't join me, and I can't even drink... But my dad is a HUGE sports fan and I told this to my mom and she said I should invite my dad. The idea at first appalled me, who brings their dad to a holiday party?! But then who hosts holiday parties at pro sporting events? I know it would mean a lot to him, and he would have fun and enjoy the game, so now I'm torn....
I don't want it to seem childish or unprofessional since I am already the youngest in my office. There are two people a year older and the next oldest is 10 years older...
I would highly appreciate opinions.
Option A) don't go
Option

go alone or with a friend
Option C) go with dad
I'm between A and C... What do you guys think?
Re: NBR - holiday party dilemma, what would you do?
I think having the parties at sporting events are an awesome idea. That way their is something to do if the party is boring as hell instead of standing around with your finger up your ass.

You want to go since it’s work-related, and you don’t want to look like non-social.
I would tell everyone you work with how excited you are to be bringing your dad to the holiday party “…Since he loves sports so much, and my husband can’t go…” just to prepare them for his arrival. Once they know WHY he is going, they will probably not really care as much, or not care at all.
Go and have fun!
My BFP Chart
Also what dad doesn't love going to anything with their daughter, especially sports.
Have a lovely time
I also have friends that work at a larger bank and they have a rather large Christmas party. A few people that work there are single and bring friends and it's no big deal.
Really it all depends on the environment of your office.

That being said the girls that planned our high school reunion picked a baseball game. And nobody came. I had to lol at that. (Main girl that planned it also threw a fit she wasn't the senior year class president even more lol)
