I voted because curiosity got the best of me,not because I think this poll is a good idea. I would rather I had not opened it, or never seen it. And yes, I do realize that it is my responsibility that I did anyway. I am not blaming anyone else for.my actions. I'm just sayin. Don't assume those 568 voters all like this idea.

I lost 10 pounds in the beginning and have gained 8 of it back. I'm kind of scared that I've gained so much back, but doc is happy. Cow status here I come and embracing it! LOL
I'm not a fan of the weight discussions; we should really just be focusing on eating nutritious foods (when possible/when MS and food aversions allow), being active when we can, and generally feeling good, well rested, and healthy. Whatever the numbers on the scale tell us beyond that is going to differ for each of us, and it makes me sad that it probably makes many of us (myself included) self conscious to have our own gains or losses benchmarked against one another. I hope that - despite an interest in this topic - we can all keep in perspective that "be healthy/feel good" means a lot more than any number on a scale.
Amen! I didn't find out through my entire first and won't be for this pregnancy either how much I gained/am gaining. I told my dr's office "just tell me if it's too much or too little and we'll work on it." Weight is such a sensitive topic for some. I know just knowing the ever growing number will freak me out. As someone who deals with anxiety anyway, I'm removing any temptation for more things to be anxious about! :-) Happy and healthy vibes to all of you!!!
There are 568 votes, which to me, says a lot of women want to participate in this kind of poll.
Take it or leave it, no personal opinion about it but sometimes numbers talk.
My participation in the poll had nothing to do with how I feel. I voted and still feel shitty. Just like everyone else I wanted to see where I was at and I am at the mid to higher range with less people in that category made me feel worse.

STFU.
Excuse me?! I've struggled with weight my ENTIRE life. I'm bone thin and due to my severe ms from my last 2 pregnancies I expressed my happiness for gaining weight because my ms has subsided. I've always wanted to gain weight to feel "normal" but then again what's normal? As long as my doc is happy with the weight I've put on then all is good. I apologize if I've offended as made clear by the "loves" your comment received.

See: "cow status." I mean, really? Given the number of women who have expressed their discomfort with what they're gaining, was that really the best word choice?
@somewheresublime86 I must agree that it was not and that's why I apologized for those I've offended. For being so skinny I suppose I was overly excited from my appt this Wednesday, but should've thought about my words before expressing them. Hope I'm forgiven!
Hi my names katie, I'm 19 weeks pregnantwith fourth and finally a girl! I have lost 2 stone due to severe MS wana gain badly! My BMI was a normal range for 5/5 28y and 10 stone! Is anyone else on complan?
I'm loving these answers. I am very aware that we all had different starting weights and are at different stages in our pregnancies. That being said, I think it is still really interesting to hear about how others have reacted to pregnancy. I started off my pregnancy with a BMI of 31 so was already quite overweight and have put on 10lbs so far. I am currently 20+4 (due April 1st) so am a few weeks ahead of some of you guys. Xxx
Can't we talk about food instead of the weight it translates into if it stays in our stomachs long enough...? Tonight we're having potrast and red potatoes... The scale can suck-it.
This topic tends to make me cry. I'm a first time mom who started out over weight. I've gained the whole 8-10 lbs my doctor wanted me to gain in the last 4 weeks. that wasn't a fun visit. So now I feel like I'm stressing and needing to lose weight but I've been so sick that I don't feel like I can do anything and I'm always hungry.
Wow! (Some people need anger management.) I'm 5'1, started at 113. This is my first. I'm 18 weeks and up 17 pounds. I don't like it much, but my husband loves how pregnancy has made my boobs grow, so because he's happy makes me happy. But I have switched from ice cream to a sorta gross spinach smoothy with the thought that will satisfy my ice cream craving. This baby loves cookies too. Thanks for the post.

You should seriously change your SN. Using your actual email is not smart. All of the crazies will start spamming your inbox.
Who does that? Wow.
Thank you. I didn't know it posts publicly. I can't figure out how to change it.
Last pregnancy I lost weight until about now, but I've gained 2 lbs in 17 weeks and can't complain as I'm still lower than I was last pregnancy! I was told last time to only gain 15-18 lbs and gained 15 but just want to be healthy for the baby
Me too I was a bit worried but spoke to my doc and he reassured me everything was fine. I also am overweight so this doesn't bother me... As long as baby is healthy I'm happy!

Some people need reading comprehension help.
Also, stellar shit-stirring! You're going to go over like a lead balloon!
Also also, you SERIOUSLY need to change your username. If you don't know why then there's no fucking hope for you on the Internet. Best just throw your computer/tablet/phone away.
I totally want to email dirty, dirty porn to this person.
@pblge - I know BabyCenter is a bad word around here, but Google told me they have a pretty useful tool for comparing your weight gain to healthy averages by pregnancy week.
I like to neurotically plug my numbers into this calculator every time I weigh myself.
* Bonus * - It even has a check box for twin pregnancies, so I don't feel extra huge, give up, and set off in search of a chocolate river, so I can drown myself a la Augustus Gloop.
I voted SS because home scale says 6 or 7. At my Dr. Appointment they were concerned I wasn't eating because they had a 11oz loss from the month before and a total of like one lb gained . I'm sticking to 6 or 7 gained. My home scale is pretty accurate and consistent. My weight has been all over the place at the drs. Two different office and two different scales. I was 18 weeks at my last appointment. I gained most of the 30 pounds last time at the end I am not concerned.

I made the decision at the beginning of my pregnancy that I didn't want to know "the number". So I told the nurse and ob that as long as I'm having healthy weight gain I don't want to know how much I've gained or the number on the scale.
I haven't gained weight yet but my shirts are definitely much tighter so it confuses mel. My doctor said yesterday, "we don't care about u and ur weight loss or gain we only Care about the baby" hah so I guess it's not a big deal, I was worried.
This post needs to die. Srsly. I know it's been said before but, every pregnancy is different. As long as you and your doctor/midwife is okay with your gain/loss you're fine. I feel like the only thing this post does is make others compare themselves to each other, which can totally screw with your already emotional brain. End rant.
I gained 2 pounds, found out during my 16 week visit. My doctor told me not to worry either way. If I haven't gained more weight (she wouldn't tell me how much - she said she don't want me to stressed) then she'll just encourage me to eat note. Again though, she said don't worry - every one is different, as long as baby is healthy, it's fine
