Crafts/Projects

This last week I decided to take on making 4 Christmas stockings for the family. It was a lot of fun and it was nice to have something seperate from being a mom and wife. I love those things of course but I need my own thing too. Anyway, has anyone else taken on a project or craft they would like to share?

  • Those are adorable! Great job :)

  • Thank you :) it felt nice to do something other then the norm. I have to thank Pinterest for the idea and patterns. Love that website :)

  • @kendy20‌ that looks great! I like those colors!
I traced the pattern on the lining of them so I could sew right on that. Otherwise they probably wouldn't of turned out that way!

  • I love those stockings!! I wish work would slow down and baby would stop teething so I could do something crafty. I'm loving y'all's stuff and it's giving me the itch to get creative!
  • Those are great!! I was googling how to do this today - I have no sewing skills whatsoever so I'm trying to figure it out.

  • Really cute stockings.

I've been working on some blocks for my nephews and my son. I've been using the wood burner for the designs though now i need to paint them.

I haven't been in the mood to sew but my mom wants something that I have to sew. I'm thinking over thanksgiving pulling out the sewing machine.

  • I've been knitting scarf and messing up a lot for about a month now. I'm going to start knitting a baby hat here soon.

  • @mymommyplace‌ there are some great tutorials on Pinterest. I did outside fabric (burlap) another layer of burlap then two layers of lining. On the top lining I traced the pattern so I could just sew on that line. It made it sooo much easier! Here's the tutorial I used. It has a pattern too.

  • DD (2.5) and I made a table centerpiece for my parents with a big vase and small little tree bulbs and in the center a flameless candle. I finished it off by wrapping some twine around the middle.
I was about to attach a pic but I had deleted it : (

I want to make block puzzles (different pictures on each side) but i'm not sure what paint to use that's safe for babies. She puts everything in her mouth. What are you using? I like the idea of just burning the wood...

    Isabella & Julian & and now #3!
  • I am knitting an infinity scarf for baby, and also working on an embroidery hoop for a friend. I am hosting a wine glass painting event tomorrow night for my local mom's club. And this weekend my friend and I are making ornaments (we do this every year).

  • Those are adorable! I'm so not crafty but I've been trying. I just did this (can't post pics from my computer because I'm technologically challenged and I don't have the app on my phone).

    Loving all the projects!
@flockofmoosen‌ what a cute idea!! Would be fun to get moms together and make ornaments or crafts. I thought about getting moms together to do freezer meals or even a Pinterest party. Bring the project you've been wanting to do and supplies and work on it with friends.

Saw this cute idea on Pinterest the other day and just ordered a burlap table runner to do it on from etsy. It says give thanks in the middle:

I was thinking of using either a vegetable stain or food safe dyes. But I might use some accent acrylic paint on areas not likely to be chewed (like the flowers). They do say that the reds and yellows fade quickest and to cover with a protective coat of gloss. Not sure what I'm going to do in that case either.

  • All my crafting lately has been with DD. She loves making yarn pom poms, bendy dolls from pipe cleaners and wooden beads, and anything with the leaves we collected on fall walks. I owe her a trip to the craft store for cooperating at DS's 6 month appointment yesterday, so maybe we will start some holiday crafting. Perk of being up for the day at 5 am is extra Pinterest time!

  • I want to make those handprint turkeys on the table runner but what kind of paint could I use that would be safe and not wash off?

  • I've been tinkering with a few things diapers, a project a friend asked me to do, and up next are Christmas pjs for the boys. If those go smoothly I think I'm going to try making some sleep sacks for #2.

@bridetobe9132013‌ thanks! I'm going to redo mine, DH did a better job and I can't stand that lol

  • @kendy20‌ We are doing handprint reindeer ornaments and oh my! So hard!! While I was doing them I had to touch up a couple with the sponge brush because she moves fast and my husband was like but that takes away the skin texture. So he will now be helping and his stuff always turns out better than mine. I think I'm more of a get it done person. I will take a picture after her nap :)! Those mistletoes are sooo cute! I like both of them :)

  • @kendy20‌ thanks and very nice!!!

  • I'm working on a hair bow/head band organizer to hang on her wall. Will post a pic if it turns out!
  • Anyone know how to do this on a plate? Proper paint? How to protect it?
  • @bridetobe9132013‌ do have a place like color me mine or another pottery painting place near you?
  • Thanks to Pinterest, I got the idea to put DS hat and bracelet from the hospital in a globe ornament. And now I'm interested in re-doing my lamp shades. I like the whole mid-century design, but all that stuff is expensive. so I'm going to make lamp shades out of these fabrics...
