Pediatricians

Looking for a pediatrician, anyone have recommendations? Ideally want a practice that is easy to get an appointment with and if there is an after hour situation some way of getting in touch to ask questions. Also someone who can respect the vaccine schedule that I would like to set for my child as well as not getting pill happy and prescribing a bunch of antibiotics. Staff should be friendly and professional, and office clean. Does that sound like an office any of you go to or know of?

Not sure what area you're looking for, but I use lake pediatrics in Denham Springs. I live in Denham though. I love them and get appointments very easily. I have never had to call after hours. I've brought my daughter to the lake after hours for those rare circumstances. I'm not much help, sorry!

Looking for Baton Rouge area, but how do you like going to a group affiliated with a hospital? Someone mentioned private practices offer a higher level of "customer service"? Any experience with that?

I use Mindy Calendaro at Baton Rouge general clinic. We are new to town. she was recommended by a local mom while I was on house hunting before we moved. I really love her! She's so caring. They stay open until 8pm and also have Saturday hours. She also handled all my child's specialist referrals with ease.

I used to use lake pediatrics in Denham . We used dr. Hart she was so sweet but omg the wait was terrible. I spent a minimum of two hours there every single time and they could never fit him in when he was sick. I use dr Lisa le at st. Elizabeth's pediatrics in prairieville. It's on hwy 73 by hwy 42 so it's technically prairieville but it's not far from Baton Rouge. They have been amazing and they fit my son in anytime he needs to be seen, plus my cousin is the medical assistant there and she's great with kids all the kids there love her and the parents too

We see Dr. Danny Wood at the Baton Rouge Clinic. Wait times are short and he is fantastic. Also very encouraging with breastfeeding, which is important to me. His nurses are responsive and gentle. I am not sure if he is accepting new patients but it is well worth a shot.

Lake Pediatrics on the corner of Perkins and YMCA plaza. It's right off of Siegan. If we can't get a same day appointment with our doctor there is always an appointment open with another doctor we can take. They are all great doctors.
Being affiliated with The Lake is great, they get the files for any hospital visits the next day or that day. And they have a network of specialist.

They also have the Lake After Hours in the same building that opens at 3pm on weekdays and I think 11am on weekends. They're the only on in BR that has a pediatrician there at all times. The other LAHs only have family care doctors.
They take Medicaid, have their own labs in office, and are super friendly. I can't recommend them enough.

Jennifer guidroz at the Baton Rouge clinic. She is great! Makes my son (3yo) feel comfortable and interacts with him, and will talk to you doctor to parent and also parent to parent since she has young children.
Danny wood is awesome and highly recommended (originally who I wanted to switch to after seeing him take care of my sisters 3 children) but he isn't taking new patients unless you are an already established family. Dr guidroz mimics her practice and style from dr wood.
