Peppermint mocha coffee creamer decrease supply?

edited November 2014 in Breastfeeding
I know it's probably a dumb question, but has anyone had this happen? I don't use pure peppermint for anything, and I'll stay away from candy canes and other peppermint goodies this Christmas but a sweetened morning coffee a few times a week would make my MOTN feeds more bearable! TIA.

ETA: I've read the kelleymom page about herbs. I actually want anecdotal answers LOL.

I'm gonna say no - I find it hard to believe coffee creamer would have real peppermint (or, if it does, enough to affect supply). FWIW, I had candy canes and such last Christmas and didn't see any effect on supply. Maybe just don't drink large amounts of peppermint tea.

I will say, I went on a peppermint patty binge for a couple days, and I swear it did affect my supply. I'm glad to hear there is no peppermint in peppermint flavored coffee creamer ;)

  • Thanks. In another duh moment, I checked the ingredients after posting this question and I didn't even see peppermint listed LOL.
  • On an unrelated note--isn't it a little ironic that peppermint creamer doesn't contain the one ingredient it claims to be?

I learned through the Cloth Diaper board that store bought pumpkin spice creamer doesn't contain pumpkin so I'm not sure why I thought peppermint mocha would be different!

That's because it's pumpkin SPICE flavor, not PUMPKIN flavor.... People get so bent out of shape about this but just realize what the name says... Pumpkin SPICE is a combo of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves etc...

Something I didn't know until this year but definitely didn't stop me from drinking pumpkin spice lattes LOL.

Yes, I was so ignorant about how so many foods had artificial ingredients until I became pregnant.
