  • Guess who is shopping for beds and night stands?  MEEEEE

Any good info on a cheap scalloped headboard?

$500 for this puppy, but I don't love the color (rather have grey) or legs and reviews say it's good for the price but chinky.

$500 is pretty cheap. If you feel comfortable buying online and just going off reviews, try overstock. I think I am going to get James' twin beds on Overstock.

Also Joss&Main has lots of options around that price range (not sure on shipping)https://www.jossandmain.com/Beds~CL12.html#SKY7037

I know you said scalloped, but I am loving wingback right now. A bit more expensive though.
Whether it's in a first apartment or updated guest suite, this handmade wingback bed offers the perfect finishing touch for any space. Pair it with crisp she...

  • Insurance question.

I think we are going to switch to a Marketplace plan.  Open enrollment is 11/15/14 to 2/15/15.  I'm due 2/12 - do you think it would be better to switch now or wait until DD is born?  It's cutting it pretty freaking close with the birth date, but I had W a week or two early (how terrible that I don't remember).
Don't wait for the birth.  That could be a hot mess timing wise.  Just because you're early on one doesn't mean you'll be early or on-date next time.  Had a friend go almost two weeks over on #2 after #1 was two weeks early.

  • FFFC-I'm struggling with my toddler. He doesn't listen anymore and I swear since Abby was born the devil is in him. He sits in timeout a lot lately. I've taken days with just him to spend more time with him and tried to show him he's still important, but he acts like a jerk all.the.time.

  • DH gets home tonight after a week away and I really hope he'll take DD for a while on his own this weekend.  She and I are getting on one another's nerves.  I truly think this happens with kids, even this young.  I'm annoying the crap out of her, and she's returning the favor.

  • I was just accidentally sent an email basically calling me a superior and self serving bitch because I told our host that my kids don't need highchairs or special food for Thanksgiving weekend. Oh, and I'm 'hoarding' the baby because I said we don't need her to buy bottles.

    1) DD1 sits in a regular chair, so she doesn't need a highchair
    2) DD2 doesn't eat, so she doesn't need a highchair
    3) I would love it if DD2 would take a bottle and I didn't have to 'hoard' her

I can't decide how/if I want to let her know she sent the email to the wrong person on her contact list, let alone what to say about what she apparently thinks of me. Part of me wants to confront her and tell her how wrong she is, and the other part thinks I should just delete the email and let it slide as a vent she probably didn't mean.

I totally agree. DH gets 6 straight days off a month and those says he has DS alone for most of it. By the end of the stretch they are both ready to take a break from one another. One more reason why DS has started to go to an IHDC on Wednesdays.

A lot of people on Camden's BMB and IRL friends that had babies at the same time are starting solids. I'm over here like...NOPE! It's not even a "you should wait until 6 months" thing, it's a "I know how much extra work that is and I'd rather not right now" thing. Seriously, feeding a toddler solid food is enough work, I don't need to add the baby in early, too! I seriously may wait until he's 7 or 8 months old.
YES! So much more work and getting a toddler to eat is hard enough. Yes.

I would let it slide.  But then I would dream of sending a reply that says only,  "Ooops! :p"

Which one?  I'm inclined to do the cheapest because when we move in a couple years I'll want a different bed.  My linens are white, so I"m torn between the light gray and dark charcoal (where the rivets really stand out)

Oh, and I have a window behind my bed.  I'm thinking "C" would block it the least, and "D" the most.

The legs on "A" look nicer than the rest IMO, but I don't like any of them so who cares.

ETA: Oh haaay, look how the headboard continues down on A but cuts off at the pillow line on the others.  Hmm.

  • @Eastie156‌ I was just thinking about you and wondering how you were doing. Sorry to her your toddler isn't adjusting as well as you'd hoped. Jasper was the same way. I don't have a ton of advice, and the only thing that worked for us was just making sure we spent a bunch of one on one time with him, which it sounds like you're already doing. Hang in there! It will get better!

I like B, but I like darker colors (I have a black bed). And I think B looks shorter than C and would block the window the least. A is my second favorite but I like the trim being on the outside edge (like in B & C) better than the extra boarder of fabric. Can't go wrong though, all great options.

THT I like A.  We got a dark headboard, and I hate that it's so dark.  It really brought down the overall feel of our room.

ETA: I see you have a black frame now.  We went from no frame to a thick, solid, dark brown, so it was a drastic change.

I was all ready to buy a couple for James' (and one day Leo's) room and DH put the big veto on it because he thought it looked too stuffy for little boys. Boo-urns. So now I am going in a completely opposite direction with manly iron beds for them.

I think it's really dumb to not use all of your vacation days. I view them as part of my overall salary package, and believe that time off ultimately makes me a better worker. Yet I'm always encountering people who let them go to waste.

I have three personal days that I have to use before 1/1 or I lose them. But I'm in training until 1/5. I'm saving them in case one of the boys gets sick, because I don't have another option, but if they don't get sick I will probably lose out on them. It makes me sad, but I'm too nervous to miss a training day.

  • MIL "fired" me this week. I have still been working for her Pt on weekends and evenings because I can definitely still use the money. On the one hand I'm happy about it because I was essentially working 65 hours a week, plus taking care of the boys and maintaining the house. I'm looking forward to the freedom of not having to work for her, but this puts me right back on a super tight budget until at least next fall when I re-do the boys school/daycare situations.

We can only carry 1 years worth of vacation over to the new year, so I am technically losing the carryover of my 2013 unused vacation. I haven't touched the 5 weeks earned this year yet.

I likely won't have to worry about that next year with potential multiple surguries and such.
