Hi ladies...
Well, AF came on Saturday. My OB said we could try again after one cycle, but I think we may wait though, I am very anxious to try again, I want a baby so badly, but I am so scared of something happening again. How long after your surgery did your doc tell you could try again. I guess I should mention that my tube was saved, but I am scared of there being scar tissue in that one tube that will lead to another ectopic. I wish there was a surefire way to tell which side I ovulated on. If you are TTC again how long did you wait, and if you are pg after an ectopic, how long did it take to get pg again? I realize that everyone is different, my doc seems to think it won't take very long, we got pg our first cycle with this one. TIA!
Re: If you have had an ectopic
Hi! I am an ectopic survivor too. I didn't have the surgery, I did the MXT shot. My RE said we can start trying after AF, but for awhile only wants me to try when I O from the left side. It can take a while for the tube to heal and smooth out. In a month or two I will get an HSG test to ensure the tube is clear.
Could you see if a RE will monitor you? As you know, ectopic pg is pretty scary and chances of having another are increased. If I didn't have a test to ensure no blockage and wasn't monitored to see which side I O'd, I would certainly wait a couple cycles to heal.
Good luck!
I'm glad I could give you some hope.
I hope you're doing ok
Hello fellow STLer! My aunt had and ectopic. She did loose her tube in theprocess. I'm not sure when her Dr told her to try again, but she was pregnant with in 6 months with my cousin and since than has gone on to have a second child, my Godson!

I got pregnant w/ my first baby (my m/c) on our first cycle trying. This one it took 4 cycles trying (6 months post m/c) My Dr told me most people are pregnant again w/in 6-9 months.

True that O pain/cramping can be misleading... but an ultrasound can tell you what side you are ovulating on pretty accurately and that is what my RE is doing for us. (note though, that there is a chance you can O on one side and the egg can travel to the opposite tube, but it is relatively rare)
I'm guessing since you lost your tube they're not suggesting and HSG, but since youre scared about the the other tube you may want to push for it. I did and I felt so much better knowing that the tubes were open. I wanted to do anything to make sure I didn't have to go through this again. Just a thought.
Anyway my Dr said try again asap, lots of people on PL were told 3 months though.
I still have my tube...
