I haven't even put on a ton of weight (19lbs at 30 weeks), and cellulite is popping up everywhere. I'm very active and drink a ton of water. Is this happening to anyone else? I almost cried getting out of my shower today. Will this go away?!?!
Cellulite is fat pockets pushed out between strong, fibrous weaves of collagenous tissue under the skin. Congratulations on having healthy tissues! :-D It's totally normal and perfectly healthy and most women have it all the time. Never allow anyone, including yourself, tell you that your perfectly functioning body is less valuable or worthy of praise. Seriously, never allow it. Ever. That said, after baby is born you can minimize the appearance of cellulite by returning to your pre-pregnancy weight usually. But regardless of what happens after baby is born, make sure you are loving yourself and respecting your body. Don't be afraid to talk to your doctor about a dwindling sense of self worth if it continues to bother you. There is support out there for women struggling with body image issues.
Oh my gosh this is happening to me too! I've gained 20 pounds, and all my pants still fit in the butt and legs, so I don't feel like I'm getting way bigger in those areas, but the cellulite is EVERYWHERE. It's horrible; I feel your pain. Everyone tells me I look great, and that I don't look like I'm gaining excess weight, but it's hard to feel that way when I look in the mirror and see so much cellulite all over my butt and legs. I'm also very active and drink a ton of water. I'm so glad I'm not the only one experiencing this.
I've gained 30 lbs at 30 weeks and have both new stretch marks (tummy) and new cellulite (thighs) I totally expected the stretch marks, because I get them from everything puberty (boobs) lifting weights (on back/shoulders), running (butt), drinking in my 20s (lower back) - also it's not like I've ever been fat - I've been between 118-130 from age 15-31. I think it is just a normal thing. Strivectin makes them much less noticeable. The cellulite I started getting on my butt when I turned 30, and now I have it on my thighs from pregnancy (although I also always had thin legs and now HAVE thighs from pregnancy so...). My mom tells me the cellulite will reduce as I lose the pregnancy weight, and if not, there are massages, creams and dermatological treatments that can be done.
Oh ya, ive only gained 18lbs but my butt and my legs r just walking cellulite sticks. I can't complain tho, it's one of the nicer side effects I've dealt with lol and because it's winter in New England, I can hide it. Plus so far (fingers crossed) I still only have stretch marks on my butt cheeks n my side boobs, which no one sees but DH anyways so let's hope that stays that way! I'll take cellulite I can work off/tighten up over all the other options anyday.. :-) gl n stay positive, it sucks for now but I'm sure u look great n just remember u can lose it later if u work hard :-)
Thanks guys! Glad I'm not the only one. I've always been very tall and athletic, and the cellulite is on my arms! That's probably why I'm so self conscious about it. I see it all the time. I'm hoping once the baby is born and I can get back to cross fit, I can get rid of it and lean back out.
Oh yes, I have always had a little but now it's so bad. I can see it through my leggings and workout pants. I am super self conscious about it. I havent even gained that much and people tell me I only look like I have a belly but the same as I was pre pregnancy everywhere else. I obviously don't feel that way and if they saw me naked they wouldn't either! it must be a pregnancy thing. But I am hoping I can lose it after baby is born!
Re: Cellulite?
3lbs? Holy crap. Now 19 sounds awful lol.
